interesting drama.... but theyve forgot the funny bits.
  3. oops.... only just noticed this! lol.. *smacks mushies wrist* thats it in a nutshell...they produced cheesy pop, aimed at the young. it hadnt the quality that earlier teenybop bands had (duran duran, t rex, slade etc) who produced their own music. i prefer the jazz pop acts (only just) at least they were real groups, producing their own music. in a nutshell.... i hate S/A/W generally because they 1) created soul-less cheesy pop for kids, and 2) were old men creating a total product, a karaoke act. .... like ive already said, pop should be youth lead (facilitated by old buggers maybe) the ideas should come off the ground floor, youth, identity, ideas, new sounds. toms right, you cannot 'convert us' because our musical tastes are far more sophisticated then S/A/Ws three minute product. did they ruin music?... well just look at the legacy of their brief chart domination... they were the first to make karaoke pop acceptable and we have had it ever since. real pop is now called 'indie', which it ISNT.
  4. i do it for most posters birthdays who post mainly in retro/perspectives... its because like me i reckon they probably dont check the birthday thread in the lounge ...especialy as its jokey header is offputting. *most posters = regulars whos birthdays i see at the bottom... though i often dont check that so some go unnoticed!
  5. exhausted i guess, then the cold water induced a coma type thing... i just hope hes still down there!

m8, no offence but i dont give a $h!te about films! i watch an occassional film, im no film buff, so this is new to me. ive seen and like 'abyss'. but im just not bothered about modern films that do rely all too much on visuals, corny scripts and special effects. gimmie film noir anyday.
  7. header says it all.... congrats in reaching 38 .. i first knew you when you were 32... you were young, you are now middle aged! only 2 years before your eyesight and short term memory starts to fade...
  8. lol... you are doing (correctly i might add) to corrie what i often do to eastenders... it was utter pants.... though im sick of joe, hope hes gone for good. all that panicing and wimpering, his beady eyes and shifty face... lord knows what a love child between him and gail 'no chin' would have looked like.
  9. over made up bimbos imho.... twas funny though when that ugly scottish guy got all the lights out by round 2
  10. indeed, however theres more too it then that. children are being brought up inside a religion... especially those outside christianity. jews, hindus, muslims etc are 'given' their religion as much as they are given their name and ethnicity. it is part of their identity and culture, therefore religion is here to stay :( , itll never be dropped (like it should be).
  11. how does the catholic church explain paedophile preists?.... i mean, if its against gods will how come ironically, so many are paedos? doesnt that prove that it cant be 'cured' by prayer?... oh god... just realised, does this mean god accepts the existance of paedophiles? or does it prove that god doesnt exist?... i wonder which!!!!!! pmsl.
  12. indeed, dexys are known for that goddamn awful 'come on eileen' and at a pinch 'jackie wilson says' but their far superior 'geno' which also was #1 (so SHOULD be remembered) is largely forgotten. also rate 'there there my dear', 'show me' but my fav was their first 'dance stance' ('burn it down ' on searching for the young soul rebels).
  13. .... the statistics show the january was the warmest for 30 years (globally). that means 30 years ago it was just as warm.....

im pretty close to agreeing with you on this jark.. i dont dislike him as much as you appear to, but he is a one trick pony and his joke character is now wearing thin... but it was a funny but farciacal recent exit. as for the aaron storyline, this is what emmerdale does.... 'holds' storylines whilst others take precidence. his trip to holland is the perfect excuse to rest it.
  15. there should be an american style 'statute of limitations'... 27 years later is utterly ridiculous whether they sound the same or not.
  16. sad news this morning that one of our foremost jazz musicians has died aged 82. cant say im big on jazz but i LOVED 'african waltz', his only chart him from 1962.

it can get off earth!!! it used to... use their imagination and visit foreign planets (a gravel pit in surrey as a rule  ). i dont care about the script because the visuals carried it for me, besides i havnt seen other films so its pretty new to me (the storyline) except its a direct update of the american indian wars. i wouldnt have been surprised if they had a battle (slaughter) on a place called 'sand creek' , or 'mountain meadows'.
  18. her fav record was 'telstar' ..... :(
  19. actually they had 6 hits... all low charters 'broken land' was my fav track of 1988, although tbh that wasnt hard (from my perspective).
  20. totally agree russ about the lotus eaters 'first picture of you', splendid pop song, as you say 'joyous'.

i had to lol last night, shadracks antics destroying their home was hilarious.... if not completely daft!
  22. leading on from that, surely 2 decent law abiding gay people are much less 'sinfull' then many hetro's?... if you take the bible literally isnt any sexual act outside striaght married sex sinfull?.. that would then include masturbation, oral sex, and many other innoccuous , normal, healthy, acts.. and how tf can god punish someone for their GIVEN sexuality?... how many people have been converted to 'straights' by earnest prayer?... NONE! therefore god clearly has no problem with gays.
  23. scott made the original assertion, however, factually drugs cheats in uk athletics are rocking horse $h!te m8... less then 0.5% .
  24. yep, gotta agree with cope/teardrops/orange juice. all did much better then the tracks they are known for. one of my fav all time tracks was the teardrop explodes first track 'when i dream'..
  25. absoltely, the beach boys only got credible when they dropped that awful 'surf sound'.. but that credibility seemed to be concentrated on 'pet sounds', before and after that were they really that good?..
