caine and charity, jimmy nicola... 2 forthcoming weddings..
  4. totally agree with you regarding athletes... real sportspeople who slog it out 24/7 365 to focus on an event that lasts minutes. thats devotion.
  5. yes.... if he was coming here to preach that homosexuality is evil... if he was coming here for other reasons then no. just because he doesnt agree with homosexuality doesnt make him a target for banning ..... otherwise all muslims would be banned too! oh and certain christians/jews/whoever but god supposed to be constant .... anyway, whatever 'god' is, it aint a fathomable concept to us mere humans. there FAR more going on in the universe, life, physics, chemistry, quantum physics, we are only begining to understand the small part of it. so to catagorise the concept of a god ... no matter which one (and just whos god is the 'real' one anyway?) in such basic terms is a flawed concept.
  6. in my excercise last year voting for each track in each year to determine my real fav years...1986 did very well thanks to obscure hits which i rated like 'driving away from home', 'radio africa', and the better known 'imagination' belouis some.
  7. thats an interesting take of the era billy, its good to have this perspective as most here either dont like the era (like me), like the indie scene, or watermans remnants.. :)

pity paddy wasnt dead ... crap character, too much airtime, too booooorrrring, about as hard as a cowpat. still quite good... but not to the standards of seriese 1 and 2.

well whether shes acting or not... imho she fits the part. but it matters not, i doubt she will be in it for long....emmerdale has had hundereds of families pass through over the years. only the dingles have stuck, the bartons might... i hope they do... but i doubt it.
  10. god as depicted on most of the old testiment is anything but one of love and forgiveness. hes a vile uncaring entity who would sooner wipe out nations in agony then use his oh so loving powers to show them a better way. and before you point to 'jesus' being sacrificed for our sins .... where is he now? oh yeah, back home with daddy... so in fact there was NO sacrifice!
  11. sounds like the rantings of a devout christian to me.... no i dont agree, there are indoctrination schools in most countries, does his condemnation of these only focus on muslim schools? i bet there are more christian/catholic schools then muslim in the uk/america/western europe. regarding the fatwa against rushdie 'giving the power of life and death to any inconsequencial muslim in the world'... well id suggest that historically thats already been done....... by christians! how many deaths have been committed by 'incosequential' christians in the name of 'god'?..
  12. of course, but as its only footy related i dont care. as it happens i agree with most here, if it doesnt impact on his ability to do the job then so what? ok hes a hypocrit.. but imho it aint worth thinking about.
  13. loved 'driving away from home (jims tune)' , never understood why subsequent releases failed to chart, its immaterial is possible a lost gem of the 80's.
  14. firstly, the ONLY ban on any march was by an extreme muslim group wanting to stick two fingers up at the british... <_< , so your point suggesting wrongly that we on here dont allow legitimate, ordinary muslim groups to protest is WRONG. secondly... nope of COURSE the effing pope shouldnt be allowed to preach homophobia... im dead against it. however, the catholic church is much stronger, deeply entrenched in our society then islam, i think itll be much harder to ban this.
  15. thats interesting, thanks for that info .... ps i like reading your posts, very informative :)

is she?.... think she plays the part just right, a timid newbie schoolgirl easy pickings for vile bullies. but shoving victorias head down the bog?.... i dont think so! mind you it was funny, and victoria (good actress) isnt a likeable character.
  17. i dont care, its footy and i hate footy.
  18. i think this is one case where spam IS allowed!
  19. oh i reckon a quarter of the northern hemisphere is directly effected by the gulf stream (north atlantic) this does have a strong knock on effect across the globe. the earths atmosphere is like i large three dimensional jelly with warm and cold bits, displace one bit here and it causese the whole entity to adjust displacing bits everywhere. ultimately the uks weather is driven by what happens in the west pacific! and how other factors effect the 'upstream events' before it arrives here.
  20. you surprise me, yet again you are the only one i know (as in knowlegable adult) who prefers this cover to dolly partons original. same with the (appropriately named) wet wet wets version of 'love is all around'.
  21. gotta fully agree, it would still sound contemporary today and is infinately better then most modern dance chart tracks.
  22. youre telling me! pretty awful chart really.. however i like 07. USURA - Open Your Mind ...... one of my first dance track favs.. 08. The Beloved - Sweet Harmony ...abit too soppy really 11. Duran Duran - Ordinary World .... splendid comeback single :) 12. East 17 - Deep ........ surprisingly i quite like this 14. Lulu - Independence .... arguably her best track! 18. The Shamen - Phorever People .... poor really 31. Stereo MC's - Step It Up .... ok 34. The Prodigy - Out Of Space :) great track!
  23. yes it does.... the gulf streams effects on our climate has a knock on effect around the whole northern hemisphere. climate is globally linked, air masses shift, a warmer northern europe doesnt just sit here. it effects the atmosphere from ground right upto space and has a knock on effect. our weathers patterns here in the uk are driven by many factors, from the mjo in the western pacific (tropical convection), to sea surface temps around the world, mountain torque , angular momentum, stratospheric warming/cooling, let alone the gulf stream and jet stream. our weather is determined on a three dimesional basis, not two. but a weakening of its effects will still cool down the north and equal more ice reforming. it IS a self regulating phenomina.
  24. oh i think that several people have taken it as a real possibility. i myself was grossly disappointed in this ridiculous film. ... erm... if the dilution of the sea water caused by warming does lead to the gulf stream being diverted .... then we would cool down here in the northern hemisphere and surely the polar ice caps would re-form thus allowing the gulf stream back?.. isnt it a self regulating phenominon?.. just one other point the doom mongers chose to ignore!
  25. good point, and probably true! if cowell cant make money out of copying them then why should this musical ignoramus pay any heed to them?..
