tony martin was a farmer, farners had firearms as much as they have tractors... martin didnt go out and buy an illegal firearm, it was part of his 'tools of the trade', bought before and need to register them. he just didnt. im firmly on tony martins side, there is no comparison between him and a inner city council estate. he lived i the middle of nowhere.

... (again, as you have dodged this point)... they DO through much higher income taxes anyway...
  3. i was thinking of posting something about this, glad you have scott because you put it so much better... you have covered the points i was thinking of.. on the news headline bit he was talking with some geezer and phil redmond! wtf?.. thought he was pure socialist.

... and thats my point, as i see it its just another way of overtaxing people who want to get on, as if these arnt already paying more tax being high earners.

no one said everybody goes on the dole by choice... i doubt any do after working so long. its just an analogy for discussions sake.

  7. not bothered, id delete gaga! (and i like gaga, but her vids aint owt special)
  8. videos?... i only remember totp performances. i dont remember any purpose created film/vid.
  9. great choices guys :)
  10. ok, forget the popularist lists compiled by the public whos tastes are often subject to debate! lol, as most of us dont really agree with that channel 4 comilation, lets list the vids here that were really good for artistic interpretation... so... please no bo-rap, no thriller, yes they were good but in essence werent the best for artistic merit. (id argue that thrillers success has as much to do with hype and hard sell marketing as anything else). remember, this is retro... so no gaga! but i might turn a blind eye to any more recent vids that REALLY were cutting edge... (white stripes 7 nation army for eg) heres one of the very early great videos, from one of the greatest inovators we have produced... david bowie 'ashes to ashes' iA96hI016p8&feature=related another of my personal favs, visage 'fade to grey' UMPC8QJF6sI i read somewhere that this next offering was the first purpose made promo film for a single. i cannot varify this now, and its very dated! however at the time it was cutting edge as were the act performing it... the yardbirds 'for your love' (1965) AI5lyUGhTH8 over to you guys, i know many of you know some great vids by more obscure artists
  11. ..... i dont know why it didnt twig, although i wouldnt have recognised where the sample came from (dispite having it on vinyl), i should have guessed it was pinched. the style is a classic early/mid 60's r n b riff..... which probably came of an american blues track prior to that.
  12. and just for a prime example of contradiction... "The Vatican says ordaining women is "grave" as is sex abuse, but denied it was equating the two." how tf does that work? it clearly IS equating the two...
  13. ... and equates it to child sex abuse! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-10658162 so is ordinating women catholic bishops a crime as grave as child sex abuse? or is this a loaded question? (but nontheless a pertainant question)
  14. yes... i was alive in 66! lol.

..but the person on £200k would be paying considerably more tax anyway, thats my argument. nothing else we all buy is effectively means tested... a gallon of petrol costs the same for an unemployed person as a billionairre, loaf of bread, bottle of wine whatever. how would it work anyway? you might get two people working alongside eachother, one graduated, the other didnt...they earned their way up by hard work... both on the same wage but one would be paying more tax, would graduates be on a taxmans database? personally speaking, id sooner know what im going to be paying, not pay an indeterminate figure for an indeterminate time.
  16. i didnt like bread.... but this is sad news.

yeah i know it replaces tuition fees hmm... im not so sure that because someones worked damn hard both at uni then at work they should carry on paying beyond what they cost, thats really what i meant by extra tax,.wheres the incentive to get on if youre gonna be taxed beyond what they cost? theyll already be on a higher tax bracket anyway.. as i understand it, even if they are unemployed atm, they dont have to pay back anything until they earn over a certain ammount.. i might be wrong, i dunno,
  18. thanks... tbh i cant tell alot of later girls aloud tracks apart...lol

dont know how it would work... its an assumption that all graduates will get jobs, not all do, what about women when they stop work to have/look after kids? i reckon the current sytems best, you pay back exactly what you borrow. an extra tax on graduates could last alot longer and cost them more.

another great week on (imho) the uks best soap, the nice twists and new depths plummed by nathan.. what a great twist that was! framing someone else for the murder! faye as well... i can believe that, her usefulness in emmerdale is pretty thin since mark was killed. very brave of them too tackling older male virginity, why not? i know at least two in their 40's...hold on, ones 50!
  21. i cant pretend to be upset by someone i barely knew nor particually liked... he was only a year older then me...

have you a link? i could pin it in resources
  23. @ russ.... "lady gargoyle" .... so bloody obvious, so apt! lets face it, shows like this are popularity contests of little merit, most of the best artistic vids were made for acts that never got huge chart success. pity, i dont believe for 1 second 'thriller' really was the best vid ever. lets face it, its a pastche of several b movie horror flicks.
  24. as someone said on a thread on ds regarding jacko... "he tore up the template set by the beatles, and ever since the emphisis has shifted to style over substance" .... pretty accurate id say.
  25. which ga track uses it?...
