  1. no surprises that i think its rubbish, as was that performance.

have they got it wrong again asks scherz... well if its a defining track they are after, their signature track, then yes. itll appeal to the fans and the fans only.

the sats have been managed appalingly... they need a houshold track that they are known for... maybe 'up' and 'just cant get enough' were along those lines but still didnt quite make it.

  2. Well, the reason why I personally understand the football hater is

because the whole world cup football nowadays is totally boring, weak bull$h!t!

I remember the great world cup '98 or euro 2000 when almost every country

played the game on a very high level - it really was a joy and unforgetable!

Now, more and more people are watching and focusing on these kind of tournaments

but the football itself gets worse and worse! :puke2:

Someone who's normally never interested in footy and then watches some of these games

in this tournaments will first fall asleep and then never ever watch it again - seriously!

.... but then again id suggest the tornaments of 1970, 74, 78, in patricular were outstanding...i watched them back then. i agree though that as wages have gone up, the standard has gone down. theres too much hype, too much time on tv given to this half arsed game. im in broad agreement.

  3. Absolutley brilliant.

The only downside I see is in the alliance, because let's face it, the Daleks would never ally with anyone no matter how at threat they are :heehee:

... and im guessing that thats where the alliance will fall down.

  4. didnt like the initial premis of getting all the doctors enemies together...

    ... but

... it worked! so far its sober ant imho tackled a dodgy premis very well... i enjoyed it, time and space scenes, shocks, loads of storylines... i give it a massive

  5. Nathan really is a scumbag!

..... but a great character for a soap. ive always liked the bad boys, makes entertaining tv. jr ewing, den watts, marcus tandy (eldorado!...pmsl)

  6. After his speech overnight, I would say your about your leader have shown up that he is nothing more than a "false godhead".

Obama has singularly failed, as a statesman, to address the oil spillage catastrophy in the Gulf of Mexico. I would have expected a President in his position to have adopted a more statesman-like role, encouraging 'across-industry' cooperation to address the problem and bring this gusher under control, but no, all we get is more finger pointing, hysterical rhetoric and blatant threats. Setting aside the fact that the American culpability in this disaster is being totally ignored by Obama, BP (or "British Petroleum" as he deliberately and knowingly incorrectly calls them), since the two companies which were actually involved in the drilling (on BP's behalf) were the SWISS company Transocean and the AMERICAN company Halliburton.

But have you heard him criticise them? I haven't.

It would fit in with his anti-British agenda. BP have grudgingly from the outset accepted their responsibilities and obligations with regard to the compensation issues and clean-up etc, yet still we get negative pressure and threats from the White House, when true leadership would be much more appropriate and helpful in finding a solution to this awesome technical problem.

It is ironic that the very person that Obama dislikes so much, Winston Churchill (he had previously suspected that the British Army of Churchill's time was involved in the torture of his father during the Mau Mau rebellion; Hence on Day 1 on taking office he discarded the bust of Winston Churchill that was in the Oval Office), would have by now pulled together a panel of 'oil-industry and environmental' experts tasked with solving this problem and formulating measures that would regulate exploration and extraction methods, preventing further incidents occurring in the future - I wonder if Obama will get the message - or will it just be yet more threats and pressure.

Sorry, but this smacks of lets drive BP to go bust, so good old US owned Exxon can benefit (whom as I posted earlier gave the Democrats a significant amount towards their Election kitty). Hence his speech last night mentioned absolutely zero about amending all Oil producer's procedures & policies in the Seas around the USA as it was all about knocking BP.

Obama's rheoteric of "Seizing the moment," invoking World War II vets and the moon landing and stating that this disaster is the environmental 9/11, when 4 times as much is polluted from the Gulf of Niger by US Oil companies is breathtakingly insular. But then again I guess he ignores that, as his predecessors ignored (& supported US companies) over Bhophal is to be expected as the Rwandan genocide never happened did it in America's eyes.

As Morrissey once put it America Is Not The World & the Manic Street Preachers once put it If White America Told The Truth For One Day Its World Would Fall Apart.

In short Money talks & Bull$h!t walks. Whilst the UK is now getting a timely reminder in understanding why America is hated for its sheer arrogance in significant potions of the world.

Sad times, as I really thought Obama had more class than this, but I was wrong.

    splendid post richard! :)

and why didnt i get that? drive out bp from a very rich oilfield so american companies can benefit... doh!

  7. The funny thing is I mostly do agree with you about last night's episode Rob, I've said it was terrible. But I said that because I'm objective and not because I've decided I'm already going to hate it like you. If you have such contempt for EastEnders that you refuse to even call it by its NAME, I don't understand why you keep watching and commenting. It strikes me as really sad that you're wasting your time watching something you obviously don't care for at all.

... but ive told you millions of times... i WANT to like it, i did for many years, i even watched the omnibus on sundays too! because i WAS good. atm i dip in and out, i watched last night because there was no emmerdale, im interested in seeing lucas get whats coming to him, but tbh all the other storylines are just

the problem is with soaps is that storylines change daily, one day they might be great, the next it can be dire.. my frustration with the london soap is that it is mostly dire when it should be great, like it used to be.

maybe you are right, maybe i should stop living in the past and give up on the london soap all together. but im a telly adict, i like my no brainers to chill out too of an evening .

  8. It's not any kind of put down, because the fact is that it is a London soap. You just sound petty repeatedly using that.

And I'm pretty sure Stacey was being sarcastic with her order. Maybe you missed that...

calling it the london soap shows my contempt for it without resorting to the usual adjectives.

nope...thats why i said 'ridiculous one hand, on the other an unfunny joke'... it fell flat.

now that is what i thought of last nights show. i dont have to defend/bicker about it any further, you might not agree...but hey ho, so what.

  9. Why do you keep calling it 'the london soap'? Just call it EE. And of all the things in it which push the boundaries of credibility I hardly think having an Indian at lunch is one of them.

    its a polite put down....

you think its credible that a guy for a bet got stacey for a lunch/meal/banquet (just WHAT did stacey order? that was a joke wasnt it? 6 curries?... yeah right, ridiculous on one hand, on the other an unfunny joke). then forked out for all 4 of them ... the whole scene was nonsense, uncredible, rubbish.

  10. I agree... same with Depeche.... but the UK critics are an unforgiving bunch, so classic albums like The Colour of Spring and Spirit of Eden will never be given the respect and honours they deserve because of what was released before them, which I, too, like a lot.

Depeche are the obvious ones, really... what other British band has been so consciously ignored by the awards panels over the years? This is despite continuing to release brilliant music? Where's the lifetime achievement awards? I mean, it's the band's 30th year this year and still..... nothing. Perhaps the Brits got it right giving, ahem, the Spice Girls those Lifetime Achievement accolades

i take your point although depeches earlier pop stuff put me off them! lol, then by the mid 80's i was 'growing up' with a wife n family so i stopped taking as much interest. depeche mode then passed me by.

  11. Danny is utterly appalling. Glenda's not an awful lot better. I have also decided the Darren/Random Ditzy Girl to be annoying - her reactions were very off, far too quickly switched from "you bast*rd" to "AWWW I love you smudgekins".

Ryan wining and dining the Slaters, including drunk lech Mo, partly made up for it all though.

ive never rated gynis barber, always thought she was a very poor actress and got parst for her looks more then her acting ability.

as for that ridiculous ryan storyline, its another huge AS IF... who tf has a lage indian meal for lunch? as if the others would be invited, as if he wouldnt just say 'no im not paying for everyone', as if he would, as for mo constantly going on... if a bloke of that age made such lewd suggestions to a young girl ryans age there would be public outcry, quite rightly so too.

    bloody ridiculous.

ill read the papers for when lucas gets it... until then ill not be watching the london soap.

  12. no...but he should stop going on and on. as has already been mentioned, america isnt exactly without blame in the past. i didnt hear any american president then going on and on, wanting to 'kick ass' when american firms 'accidents' abroad caused death, injury, pollution etc. he might be calling it the worst environmental disaster in american history.... but ONLY on american shores! totally ignoring americas sponsored environmental disasters abroad.
  13. Talk Talk - criminally underrated in this country - very much like Depeche Mode... a band who have never ever been forgiven for their earlier, poppier direction to the degree that their later work, which in my mind is easily as great as Blue Nile, even Radiohead, is overlooked.

nowt wrong with their earlier poppy stuff russ, some of the best chart material of the 80's imho.

  14. Soap all round seems to be having an off patch at the minute. Emmerdale was poor towards the end of last week (not seen this week's yet) and Hollyoaks had their worst episode in about a month yesterday. Summer filler storylines taking over.

i dont watch hollyoaks, only half watch corrie and 'the london soap', emmerdale has always been patchy, but doesnt irritate me like the others do when they are poor. if emmerdale did irritate me like the other two main soaps do...id stop watching.

  15. Boring, badly-executed episode tonight, thanks in no small part to Danny and Roxy as well as some very bizarre direction and scripting.

glad its not just me then, cos i watched it for the first time in a couple of weeks and thought it was utter rubbish.

i would like to see lucas get his comuppance...
