Westlife - Gravity [& New Single Safe]
I expect they inevitably will but I can see it only serving to continue their decline with their constantly-dwindling album sales. Am I the only one who thought Syco had the right idea re:Westlife? They're a totally irrelevant band now as someone so rightly pointed out earlier, so might as well just turn them into some more successful Daniel O'Donnell-type. There's really no market for them on the singles chart anymore. Albums chart = yes, because of their loony fanbase who think they're actually good and don't realise every Westlife album sounds the same as the last.

No new entries in the top 20 last week.
Not sure what you mean about 1994 only having six new entries in the top 40 each week - it had a lot more than that! Admittedly not as many as 1995-1998 when the chart was at its fastest in that respect but it was nowhere near as slow as now. It was the late 80s when the chart started speeding up in terms of new entries... I don't like having a new #1 every week (though at the time it was happening in 2000 I really didn't mind at all!) but I loved the late 90s/early 00s in terms of chart speed. Yeah, there was an awful lot of new entries but it was ever varied, you could actually sit down and listen to the top 40 and hear songs you had never heard before, it felt like every type of music fan had their say even if it was just some metal song charting at #33 or something - the good times of the chart for me! Though I'm probably a bit biased as I started listening to the top 40 in 1998. If I started listening in the 70s/80s perhaps I'd hate that time more as it would have been a big change from what I knew, but as far as I was concerned at the time it was the only way the chart could be! I guess in terms of following the chart it's "easier" to keep up (though way more boring IMO) but in terms of variety it's nowhere near what it once was when the chart was faster. We're more like the Hot 100 now if anything. I used to be able to say hand on heart that the UK had the best chart in the world, now I don't think I can really. Probably because our chart always felt like it had its own identity before but now it feels too similar to the Hot 100/ARIA charts, etc, musically. And yeah, I do blame that on downloads slowing down the chart and taking away the rash of new entries, meaning only the big pop radio hits can really do damage now in most cases...

iTunes Chart: March 2011 (II)
Really? I didn't think it was getting any video rotation at all! It wasn't even the top 100 on the TV airplay chart last week according to this :o But this is really good if true. Call me delusional perhaps but the fact that it's risen so much from music channel rotation suggests there's still hope for it peaking yet :D

iTunes Chart: March 2011 (II)
Yeah, it's pretty baffling. I thought it would be a top 10 hit, but clearly it wasn't meant to be :( But to be honest, I don't think releasing the video so late helped, and then a video that doesn't exactly lend itself well to normal music channel play (although I have no doubt it being slightly controversial helped it to climb faster than it would have if the video was more normal)... Also, it probably would have done better if it was the 1st single off the album. After two commercial flop singles here, radio stations would have been much more reluctant to support All of the Lights no matter how good it is. Sad, but these days if you don't have a hit with the 1st single off an album then everything else from the album is screwed in most cases. It really sucks that it's like that, but oh well! But yes, please stay in the top 40 this time! Otherwise Kanye will probably win the award for #41-75 peaker that should have been top 40 for the second year in a row, after the aforementioned Runaway's tragic flop :nocheer:

Yeah, I can do it every other day (unless anyone else has any other complaints and wants it to go on for longer? I know one person says it's going too fast but nobody else seems to mind too much... but speak now if so!) Not sure if I'll be able to get them up in the morning though but I guess that doesn't really matter too much! More like early/late evening is more likely for my schedule.

iTunes Chart: March 2011 (II)
Yes, it's 59p. But that doesn't explain why All of the Lights has shot (back) up so much in the last couple of days. Like on Wednesday it was #70-something, now it's #40 again? Have I missed something? Not that I'm complaining - it just seems very random when I would have expected it to go into terminal decline now (as it was starting to)...

I doubt the George Michael one will do much. Have you guys actually heard it? I like George a lot but it's atrocious! A total insult to the brilliant original. I haven't heard many positive comments about it from anywhere either tbh. So really, at best there'll only be three Comic Relief songs buzzing around at the top.

I guess I don't mind doing the rest of them until Daniel gets back if no one else will... He's unbanned a week today? So that means I'd have to do up to 1996, right?

Oh noes :o It's been nice having you as a host danielGaGa. And whatever smutty things you've done I won't think any less of you :) Who is taking over then? It better be decided now to avoid any confusion! I suppose it does go fast, but most people here are on here every day, so every other day isn't that bad, really. I prefer this to a long, drawn-out week anyway where nobody ever votes in the second half of it.

LEAST Favourite of 2006s best selling singles
It's not just the winner though. The top 3 will consist of any three of those acts. Gnarls Barkley will come 4th or 5th (as is always the usual glass ceiling for male songs in these kinds of competition). I'm too observant to not know how this site works by now :D I agree that Crazy should win though. It's been my favourite the whole way through, while I've watched most of my other faves drop like flies :( But I do really like Maneater, so I'd be quite fine with that winning.

The only surprise left is MCR, Snow Patrol and MAYBE Orson (although I think this was bland enough to slip under the radar, so I'm not that surprised). The rest I did expect to still be here at this time, yes. I'd only say it goes against the BuzzJack stereotype if either Gnarls Barkley or Take That (as My Chemical Romance, Orson and Snow Patrol clearly will be out probably in the next 3 rounds) wins. But it's obviously going to be a victory for either Nelly Furtado, P!nk, Rihanna and perhaps Shakira is in with a shout too. Not going against any stereotype. BuzzJack doesn't hate male acts so much they won't let them slip into the bottom of the top 10 or so of these kind of things! I agree that 2009 was more predictable though. But to be honest I was more surprised with some of the songs that were did well in 2007 and 2008 then here.

You're not missing anything with 2 Unlimited anyway. I always thought it was a load of absolute noise. Culture Beat was similar but at least they had a decent melody as well (in my opinion, of course) - hence why I far prefer it! I agree that All That She Wants is TERRIBLE. And could they have been any more desperate combining europop and reggae crossover (two genres that were quite popular at the time) to get a hit? Honestly. I thought Ace of Base were quite good in the late 90s though (basically when the UK started shunning them )

#2s, and #3s  Some of the best hits of the 90s stalled at #3 IMO! Oh, and I forgot to say before, but YES(!) at Jimmy Nail making it through to the wildcard round. We need this man in the final! :D :P

Now this is a crap year! Nothing I really love here, but a few I like... +15 Gabrielle - Dreams Lovely song, but in any other year it wouldn't come close to top really +12 Culture Beat - Mr Vain Great 90s dance song, corny rap aside. Far prefer it to 2 Unlimited tbh... +10 Meat Loaf - I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) I do like this but I can't listen to it often for obvious reasons. Still, not hard to see why it was so big +8 The Bluebells - Young At Heart +6 Freddie Mercury - Living On My Own +5 George Michael and Queen with Lisa Stansfield - Five Live – EP +4 Take That - Pray +3 UB40 - (I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You +2 2 Unlimited - No Limit +1 Mr Blobby - Mr Blobby Thank you for keeping the song below off Xmas #1, Blobby! -2 Take That - Babe Utterly dire. I don't mind most of their 90s singles but this was truly scraping the barrel, only getting to #1 at all because anything they put their name would have back in this little stretch

Let's face it, this poll was a joke as soon as JCB went, let alone losing the likes of From Paris To Berlin, Beep, SexyBack, Irreplaceable, Put Your Records On and Voodoo Child after. So Monster going is quite expected after all that. DISASTER. Enjoy your mediocre final 10, BuzzJack; you could have had it so much better :(

No new entries in the top 20 last week.
I remember it happening in early 2008 at least once, too. Gosh, that was a boring time. And I remember there were a few threads on here complaining about how slow the singles chart was back then. I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread popping up about that now actually, though I have seen some complaining (including from me) in various other threads like the Sunday Chart Predictions, etc. Having just checked, it was two straight weeks of no new entries in the top 20 in late February/early March (01/03/08 and 08/03/08). Funnily enough, the second week of that also had a non-moving top 6. It seems like that's the ultimate sign of a slow period for new entries :D It happened once or twice when new releases were allowed to enter a week before their physical release on downloads alone back in 2006, too, but before that you'd probably have to go back to 1994, I'd guess. No.

Predict: Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull - On The Floor
There wasn't much stopping it last week either :P Actually, I think Susan Boyle/Peter Kay's 2nd week could beat it at this point (depending on how actually amusing it is), but I wouldn't rule out J-Lo climbing to #1 the week after if that did happen.

I don't think the type of people voting in this (at least so far) are the types that would put an entire Gaga top 3 if we were voting for 2009, ha. Of course that might change as we get into the later years but right now most of the voters seem to have a very varied taste, and that's definitely being reflected in the results. I'm quite sure that Firestarter will do well, picking up a LOT of high votes and also plenty of casual votes mid-table to bottom. They'll easily at least get 200 points which should be enough to qualify, but I can see them getting much more and winning the group. The list of #1s in 1996 isn't that BJ-friendly bar 3 Spice Girls songs (which will be fairly split) and a Eurovision song IMO. But yeah, I don't see Breathe making it in. It's good though, but Firestarter is a candidate for my 15 in 1996, while Breathe would be more like mid-votes.

That 1992 chart furthers my belief that 1992 was an absolutely appalling year. En Vogue at #50 though  Oh my :o At least this means Adamski gets another chance. I hope Mariah doesn't get the same treatment in 1994. These damn HATERS. And why are people so worried The Prodigy won't make it through? In fact, I'm going to make a prediction: Firestarter will WIN the 1996 group. The only thing that might beat it is 2 Become 1, but it will be top four, no doubt.

:D Sorry! I've never been interested in that kind of stuff from Shakira (Whenever Wherever aside). I prefer her music that isn't so Latin-influenced. Monster is a great piece of mindless fun! We need more records like it tbh. Better that than stale tired pop any day of the week.

+15 Charles & Eddie - Would I Lie To You? Absolutely superb melody! +12 Shakespear's Sister - Stay Would have given this top but it will get loads of points anyway, unlike C&E. +10 Jimmy Nail - Ain't No Doubt Guilty pleasure. The bridge is great. +8 Boyz II Men - End Of The Road +6 The Shamen - Ebeneezer Goode +5 Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You +4 Tasmin Archer - Sleeping Satellite Rests somewhere between pleasant + boring. +3 Snap! - Rhythm Is A Dancer +2 Erasure - Abba-esque +1 Wet Wet Wet - Goodnight Girl -2 KWS - Please Don't Go Can't polish a turd indeed. Not a vintage year for #1s, but 1993 and 1994 are even worse if I recall.

I wasn't including featured appearances, otherwise you can add Run This Town and All of the Lights (which would probably be #1 in that case ) to my list of great Rihanna singles. Live Your Life is good but not great. If I Never See Your Face Again and Who's That Chick? are toe-curlingly bad.

Pon De Replay?! You've got to be kidding  Apart from a decent-ish beat it pretty much defines yawnfest. Still, at least it was a little different to some of the other tired R&B being pushed out at that time. Doesn't make it good though, and it really sounds laughable now thinking that was the first single of a megastar! Certainly no Baby One More Time or Vision of Love in terms of iconic debuts.

Russian Roulette is amazing. Such a risky comeback single too! At least it did well here, even if it typically flopped in America by Rihanna's standards  Take A Bow is lovely. It's all about the delivery. Totally makes the track that would be crap otherwise - "Puh-lease! Just cut it out" :D Those are 2 of my fave Rihanna singles!! Along with Disturbia, What's My Name? and Hard completing the top 5. Add Umbrella and that's all her great singles.
