  1. :P I just always hated Unfaithful. Her vocal on it was always painful to my ears. The only time I've listened to it since the time it was out was when she performed it on the X Factor with Matt Cardle for that very reason!! Although she did sound much better singing it there, but still, I'll never listen to the radio version again! Those times being tortured with it in summer 2006 were perfectly enough for me. If it comes on the radio it's a race against time to mute the radio/change the station/turn it off before the vocal starts - otherwise it's like "noooo!!!" *dies*... Ok, I'm being very overdramatic here now :D On SOS, she just sounds completely bored, which is a slight improvement. But really, neither would get anymore than like a 4/10 from me.
  2. The voting for this has been truly ridiculous. So many great songs already gone or now on the verge of going (Rogue Traders, The Automatic) while $h!t like Orson, Shakira, Snow Patrol and Rihanna remains! Seriously, I think some people have been taking stupid pills before they vote each round year. Rihanna FTW!1!11 With a song she's already improved the formula of like ten times since! What would that say, honestly? I think P!nk or Nelly Furtado are the only ones who can stop this calamity from happening, tbh :( Of those, I'd prefer Nelly. P!nk is rubbish.

I'm not too surprised about Birdy's success - it seems to be one of those songs that instantly causes a reaction in some people, judging by what the reaction was like when I heard Fearne play it a good few weeks ago. A bit like Someone Like You, I guess  Still pretty amazing though on such little airplay! Only XFM and the BBC have been playing it, according to CompareMyRadio, and neither that much. Or has it started picking up airplay somewhere else now? LOL boy? It's a girl :P
  4. The only other one I'd say is pretty is Rihanna, but I can see why people would think some of the other females left are. But they don't do much for me. Rihanna is drop dead sexy though, even though back then in 2006 I thought she was kinda ugly with her satellite dish forehead - she's really matured well into a woman!!! Corinne is just gorgeous though, especially in this video  J2OLBhVua5c Gorgeous voice, gorgeous woman! You should be all be ashamed! I suppose Put Your Records On isn't her *best* though, but it's still great. I just can't believe she's gone from like hardly any votes to 10 votes in one round
  5. Next piece of ear rape that needs to leave - Shakira! :( at Corinne. And with such a huge % too! This is embarrassing - only Chico has been more hated in one round!! You're all just jealous because she's absolutely stunning and you're all ugly.

There's 119 songs reduced to 59p, lol. Nobody's going to waste their life writing them all out  Sorry! The most popular are Lights, I Gotta Feeling, Poison, Chasing Cars, Teenage Dirtbag, Rude Boy, Sweet Child O' Mine, Let It Rain, Lose Yourself, The Man Who Can't Be Moved, Gangsta's Paradise, Check It Out, Upside Down... And yes, it is being advertised on the home page: http://i54.tinypic.com/315xvtk.png
  7. There's hardly "lots" of female numbers ones in 1996. Only a few Spice Girls ones, Gina G, and then two from the Fugees (which has males in it, but is mostly sung by Lauryn). And both of George Michael's #1s in 1996 are superb, by the way. I think at least one The Prodigy song will qualify. Spice Girls will get lots of hate and probably the votes will be split because they have three songs, and I don't see Gina G or Fugees qualifying (as much as I love both of the latter #1s!)... and I think The Prodigy will get lots of high votes (a bit like The KLF this round). 1999 is okay... but 1997 and 1998 have the best years for #1s for me. I'm really surprised how alternative this is so far  I didn't think The KLF or The Clash had a chance of qualifying. 1992 is much better for the female pop fans though!
  8. Mint Royale has actually had TWO more top 20 hits. Let's not forget this underrated gem from 2000, a #15 hit at the time (even though everyone already has, except 6Music and Absolute Radio apparently :D)! dlDr4J5Q790 I've always hated this definition of one hit wonder, anyway. I prefer to go by my own judgement. I mean, using this method, Babylon Zoo isn't a 90s one-hit wonder! Right. Can anybody name their other top 20 hit? (well, I can, but that's not the point).
  9. Definitely One True Voice - Shakespeare's Way With Words! Not only horrible with truly CRINGE lyrics but also ridiculously dated. If you have Laffy Taffy (which is indeed one of the worst songs of the 00s), then you have to have some Soulja Boy surely?! And something by 50 Cent. I'd also throw in: Victoria Beckham - A Mind Of Its Own (even though its attempt at sincere really makes me laugh muchly) Jennifer Lopez - Get Right (for that grating trumpet loop which is enough to make any person want to smash something) Sid Owen - Good Thing Going (horrible cod-reggae from this buffoon clearly too inspired by Martine McCutcheon) Aaron Carter - anything!! (I can't just pick one... Aaron's Party and Not Too Young Not Too Old are especially awful though) The Vengaboys - Cheekah Bow Wow Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend Madonna - American Life I just realised most of these are from the first 5 years of the decade. Whoops! DJ Otzi had far worse songs than Hey Baby, by the way! (which was actually quite good in comparison to others I've heard by him). Although most of his songs are in German so I really don't remember what song has what title as I know nothing about the language. [/nothelpful]
  10. LOL, bull$h!t exclusion laws? Okay then. Yes, it's technically a #1 in both decades, but for me it's totally tied to the 70s. At least with The Clash you can somewhat give it a pass considering it peaked a lot higher on second release (similar to something like Sonique, which was released in 1998 but was re-released in 2000 and got to #1), and actually probably sold more in the 90s anyway. Totally different to Queen who sold more in the 70s. I would just be annoyed if Queen qualified (which they will anyway) over something else that is actually 90s in every way so I'm not going to contribute any points to help that happen. Simple as. Like I said, it's just my opinion. Get over it. You can all vote for Queen all you want, I was just saying why *I* didn't.
  11. Why? I refuse to vote for Bohemian Rhapsody on principle because it's a 1970s #1, and These Are The Days of Our Lives isn't worthy of a vote solely for it anyway. Although The Clash is also an older song, but at least it wasn't #1 before like Queen, so it wouldn't look so strange qualifying in a 90s #1s rate unlike that. Just my opinion :D
  12. *sigh* Adamski missing out to crappy Snap! is a low blow, but not unexpected. I'm surprised it came 5th though. And thank god Vanilla Ice didn't beat anything GOOD. Not bad results overall - fabulous winner, and Beats International/Madonna are worthy qualifiers also. +15 U2 - The Fly <<< The best U2 song by far. +12 The KLF featuring The Children of the Revolution - 3AM Eternal +10 The Clash - Should I Stay Or Should I Go +8 Vic Reeves & The Wonder Stuff - Dizzy +6 George Michael & Elton John - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me +5 Enigma - Sadness Part 1 +4 Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You +3 Cher - The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss) +2 Queen - Innuendo +1 Chesney Hawkes - The One And Only -2 Color Me Badd - I Wanna Sex You Up <<< This piece of crap was #1 the day I was born :puke2:
  13. Unfaithful, because I genuinely hate the piano after playing the DAMN THING for so many years of my life
  14. Yay! 1991 is SO much better than 1990, despite Bryan Adams hogging the top spot for 16 weeks. Some real brilliant #1s there. But I think the best #1s from 1991 don't get much airplay these days  I'm really not sure what will happen there. I guess MJ might win (which would be crap!!!)

Hype Squad has been deleted :o I hadn't got a chance to buy it yet! So outrageous. Is it still on Amazon?

Not OTT at all. OTT would be if I was ENRAGED with the charts. Not relatively minor annoyance (which is, essentially, just a period of boredom I experience in following the charts... I'm starting to get one now if I'm being perfectly honest, but I'll stick it out for a few weeks). Really, it's no more OTT than not watching a show because you don't like the current storyline or something. Really, it's the complete opposite of OTT. It's totally normal for people to get annoyed by things they take an interest in. If you don't then perhaps you're not human

Oh, I wasn't trying to be rude or imply anything. In my own (slightly backwards) way I was actually giving you some friendly advice. But fair enough. I probably never would have been able to stop between like 1999-2003. Gosh, I was obsessive in those days :D Kinda funny looking back. I think the best thing that ever happened (for me personally) to take my interest away from charts a bit was I found another interest I liked just as much (following tennis). It's hard to balance obsessing over two things whilst doing both in large quantities! Anyway, enough off-topicness [/lifestoryover].

Whenever I get annoyed with the charts, I get a grip on reality, realise it's just a f***ing chart, and just quit following them, only checking the chart casually every Sunday. But I don't discuss it anywhere, or go looking at midweeks or on iTunes every day. I guess if you don't have good self control this can be hard to do though :D There have only been two times I've gotten to that point in the last few years though - in early 2007 I got pissed off with the general crappy quality of the charts so stopped following them for a good few months. I was only roped back in to see how Umbrella was doing the week of its release, and kind of stayed following it to keep tracking it. The other time was actually only last year. I quit taking as much interest in them from about May to July(-ish) but then somehow stumbled back in for reasons I've forgotten now! I don't think there was any reasons actually. Withdrawal symptoms maybe?! Just kidding.

LOL, I'm sorry but that's a terrible excuse. There's TWO EPs linking to buy the single right at the top. The public aren't THAT stupid (well, maybe a few of them are, but not as many as you seem to think). Or maybe you could go outside and stop following the iTunes chart so obsessively for a week if it bothers you that much? :P Sorry (again). Couldn't resist. But the point is true.
  21. Both are utter $h!t. But SOS's worst sin is that it's just totally limp and so pedestrian compared to almost every other dance-pop song Rihanna put out afterwards. I fail to understand why anybody would even listen to it anymore tbh. While Unfaithful is actual ear rape :puke2: But yeah, they both should have gone ages ago. And I agree with nicco - I'm gutted Irreplaceable is gone :(
  22. I'm the same with the late 90s. Which I'm very excited to get to in this game, as sad as that might make me sound - although I'll probably be annoyed when certain songs that don't get much airplay these days don't get the votes they deserve because people don't remember them. As for this year, I listen to my top four often. All great songs. Though I was very surprised when I found out a few years ago that A Little Time was a #1 hit. And I was also surprised to learn that Don't Marry Her only got to #8 as it's one of the songs I associate with 1996 from my childhood. But that's going way off-topic! By the way, that reminds me - are you going to be using the same system all the way through? Because by the late 90s ('96 onwards) the number of #1s increases dramatically. Although I suppose that also means there's more songs to potentially dislike, as well. It's going to be hard to vote for only 10 songs though in those years, for me :(
  23. +15 Adamski featuring Seal - Killer +12 Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U +10 Beats International - Dub Be Good To Me +8 The Beautiful South - A Little Time +6 Englandneworder - World In Motion +5 Madonna - Vogue +4 The Steve Miller Band - The Joker +3 Bombalurina - Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikina +2 Snap! - The Power +1 Maria McKee - Show Me Heaven -2 Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby Not a bad year at all for #1s.

Yes, that one was quite hyped up as the big all-American star battle. They were easily five of the biggest exports from there at the time. An equivalent battle now would definitely send BuzzJack into meltdown, ha. I was expecting an Eminem victory there, though, even if it was a rank song... but Eminem was at the peak of his popularity here and was pretty much guaranteed a #1 with every lead single. I think I was expecting a U2 victory, but I was generally quite musically/media clueless at the time and didn't even know who Cher or George Michael were, let alone their songs, before they charted. George Michael did have the 'controversial' video though so I don't blame you for coming to that conclusion (U2 had Boyzone in their video though!!). Alanis did ridiculously well to get to #5 in that week. Yep, I think it's the oldest top 5 ever, though don't quote me on that! Amazing really.

Here's the BuzzJack midweek thread for that week: (or the last part of it, it had to be split up due to all the discussion!) http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=104531
