  1. To be honest, if it gets close, I'm firmly in camp Jessie J. It'd be really something amazing to see a song stay at #1 for three weeks whilst fending off strong competition each week rather than just staying there by default as not much else is out, which tends to be what happens these days. And if she did do it, I have no idea how anybody could call it "boring", but whatever, some people probably still would. Apparently a new #1 cruising to a clear victory is more exciting than an old #1 having to tussle to retain the top spot. But it's not even a battle, at the moment, obviously, so that's fairly irrelevant for now. I still expect a comfortable victory for Gaga this week - though not quite as huge as some others seem to think judging by a few posts I've seen in the sales thread!

 Your borderline allergy to any song lasting more than a week at #1 is very strange. Does it really kill you inside that much? You should try moving to Japan. They seem to have a new #1 every week. I'd like to see what goes on to cause that over there - I can only assume they must be using our old late 90s/early 00s model and front-loading everything to the top. And NOTHING is a bigger injustice than Westlife's 14 #1s. Their entire career is a disgrace, let's be honest.
  3. Her lead is only decreasing because she sold SO much in her first few hours that she was never going to be able to maintain. It will probably stabalise a bit more soon - she'll still get the official #1, I'd say.
  4. I'm not saying anything! I don't really like eurodance at all, anyway, except some of the earlier stuff in the late 80s/90s like The Real McCoy (listened to Another Night yesterday, still sounds amazing!), Culture Beat, Black Box, Gala, Corona. I haven't liked much eurodance since about 2000
  5. It's ok! I was being slightly overdramatic (or perhaps a lot). It would still hurt if it went before Cascada though. I feel sorry for the other 7 songs that have already lost out, too, leaving before that.
  6. CASCADA. Eugh just p*** off! Total $h!t of the highest order. And no, you people are NOT getting rid of Ne-Yo. Go gang up on someone else with a penis ffs, there's plenty left! :arrr: So Sick is great.
  7. A person in great despair begging. I hope this isn't your usual reaction in that scenario. You ain't ever getting to heaven like that.
  8. Kleerup does not have a fanny. And there was nothing fun about Diddy trying to make MORE money off a dead man's name, putting $h!tty rent-a-rappers on his old raps. It was disgraceful.
  9. Cascada again. I am soooooo tired of voting for this horrible, horrible piece of trashy eurodance. Can the next person who votes please vote for Cascada so it can be tied first? Thanks.
  10. Guys, lighten up! Put on some New Kids on the Block (or other American boyband of ur choice).
  11. Really? Honestly, both sides are being ridiculous. As I said, it's not IMPOSSIBLE for her to come back (it's been done before, the Mariah example noted above is the obvious one in recent years) but it will be an uphill struggle. And thus it's stupid to suggest she will have any chance of a #1 hit with this song when she needs to re-establish herself first. This quickly turned from a sensible discussion into something altogether more childish in the space of like 10 minutes...
  12. She's had two consecutive flop eras in a row. Well, Rebirth did get her a #1 hit, but album sales were low, so maybe you could say that was minorly successful depending on your perspective, but Brave was an undoubtable flop. Radio (and I'm talking specifically Radio 1) may be reluctant to playlist her (they've done it to many acts in the past after they were unsuccessful for a bit) and thus she needs to get them back on her side. And I never said it was impossible for it to get top 10. I was only arguing against the claim it would get to #1! It's not going to happen. I can only think of Cher who kinda did that, but Cher actually never drastically lost support - she made her "comeback" way back in the 80s and was always at least somewhat successful since then (although Believe was still undoubtedly a massive hit compared to everything she did before that).
  13. Because she needs to get everything (the media, the public etc) back on her side first! If On The Floor gets top 10, then the next single will probably get more support from the important places (because radios naturally react to the level of popularity) and things can build from there. And you can't compare it to unknown/new artists as they never lost the support in the first place... There are not many examples of acts coming back with a #1 hit after drastically losing support before. In fact, I can't think of any at all, but maybe someone else can?
  14. You do realise Mariah had to put out It's Like That (a modest hit) before getting to her big comeback hit (We Belong Together)? The way I see it, J-Lo is in the same boat Mariah was in then. On The Floor needs to re-establish herself in the music scene by getting top 10 in most of the important territories and that would be a huge accomplishment. Then she can perhaps build on that afterwards. But I would be surprised if she got a massive #1 straight off the bat when she practically has to build her music career back upwards from the ground again.

    #5.
  16. Not necessarily, as it got to #1 again in January. Whose to say it couldn't have done that without the X Factor, eh? :P It's actually pretty much a fact that The Time only got to #1 because of the X Factor - it wasn't even top 5 on iTunes before the performance, and after the week of the performance it didn't get any higher than #3. It's not the X Factor performance that's relevant, anyway. I just had to laugh at the delusion that BEPs are some mega band this era and everyone here is failing to realise that, when they've had an average-selling #1 single which was outsold quite comfortably by all the first 3 singles from The E.N.D., and an album that has struggled to get anywhere considering Elephunk, Monkey Business and The E.N.D. were ALL million sellers. So saying that people are underpredicting this song just because they expect it to only get top 10 is slightly baffling. It's pretty clear there's less interest in the BEPs this era than last. I mean, even you as the biggest loon for them on Buzzjack could probably see they're not doing as well as expected this era, right?
  17. You mean the same Black Eyed Peas who lucked their way to #1 with The Time on the back of an X Factor performance and weak competition, when they had been out for four weeks before whilst only peaking at #6, and that was with a video already out and getting airplay? I don't begrudge them it, but The Time only took off after that, let's face it. Without that it would have likely only peaked at around #3. Stop acting like they're super massive this era when they're only having mediocre success. Even with the X Factor performance it hardly went to Meet Me Halfway levels, did it? Nobody underpredicted The Time, anyway - like I said, it was lucky to get #1 at all, so anybody predicting top 5 was pretty much correct. And besides, a lot of people did predict #1.
  18. Sorry, but that makes no sense. They have to keep the same time period all the time for the sake of fairness, and just because Gaga got to #1 in 5 hours does not mean the time period is 5 hours, lol. Most new songs do not get to #1 that fast - it varies but the average is probably about 1 day. Some can take up to 2 though, but it's very rare for any to take more than that (although Champion did this week - just, as it got to #1 on Tuesday morning - and Price Tag did, too, funnily enough, but those are the first ones in quite a while, and Price Tag was actually behind in the first midweeks too which suggests it IS 48 hours or less [Chipmunk was ahead, mind, but he did have physical sales too, I believe, and the gap was very small on Monday night between him and Jessie, so that would have cut the lead from Jessie who is only out on downloads]). Gaga is an exception because the song is selling so fast it's already outselling everyone else while it's been out MUCH less time. That's why it got to #1 in 5 hours, because it's simply very very popular right now. Besides, the #1 would be changing all the time if the time period was THAT narrow anyway, not to mention the rest of the chart would be all over the place. It's definitely between 24-72 hours. It's too fast to be any higher, and too slow for it to be any lower. Most people here seem to agree on 48 hours for various reasons, some of which have been stated here already.
  19. LOL, I just went trawling through my post history to find that supposed altercation and it wasn't that bad! I think I was quite pleasant that time, to be fair, considering. http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...p;#entry3357719 You might be mixing it up with this one, where I was quite rude, though. I must have been peed off on this day for some reason, or just in a foul mood for nothing specific. http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...p;#entry3389814 :D
  20. You misunderstood. I was talking more about the lower new entries when I said they usually peak positions-wise on Monday nights (if you're referring to my post). If a song gets to #1 before 48 hours, it means it's sold more than anyone else in the same time frame with less hours on it. So, Gaga was #1 in like 5 hours, I believe, which means she sold more in those 5 hours than Chipmunk and Jessie J did in the previous 48 hours (as they've been available the entire week). It's highly likely, though, that Gaga's sales will be at their highest in the iTunes time period (at least for this week) on Sunday afternoon, before her sales from today drop off. But that might not necessarily show in the pop bars as it's all measured relative to the #1, and Gaga's bar will always be the same size.
  21. :o When have I done anything to you? I've always been quite nice to/about you! I even gave you a 10 in my rate, I think (though that was ages ago now). I seriously need to work on trying to soften some of my posts, though, when I'm replying to someone like that. I recall doing it to Klumzee(?) not long ago, too.
  22. I feel bad now like I just spewed some massive bile at you only for you to come back with a nice "okay :)" Didn't mean to sound rude - it just annoys me when people don't understand something I say or think something totally different to what I meant (although I don't think I help sometimes).
  23. Misunderstood? Maybe. Reading too much into a simple comment? Most definitely. I said the song would probably explode when the video is released because most of their singles have had a massive boost at that time, and since this single is selling poorly at the moment it's hardly wrong to assume that the video would give it an even bigger boost (position-wise) than a song of theirs that is already high up in the charts. Do you disagree with that? I'm not sure how you can, really. It seems fairly basic to me. I'm not blaming any success on a video or saying anyone is being brainwashed into buying it. A video is basic, valid promotion like anything else and the Black Eyed Peas are good at benefitting from that because they get a lot of video airplay, and I'm certainly far from bitter about it. Just stating a simple fact. If they climb up the charts without a video, then great for them, but frankly I don't care THAT much either way, so I have no idea how you got that from my post. Honestly, you assume things way too much. Some people might make comments like that if that scenario does happen, but I for one couldn't care less.
  24. Umm, I was talking about THIS country. I don't care about Australia, to be perfectly honest. And I know that... I don't hate every Black Eyed Peas song (in fact, I love some of them, like Request + Line, Don't Phunk With My Heart, Where Is The Love?). Like I said, it's only really this album it's started to get on my nerves. And I'm pretty sure I didn't say anything about their level of success in relation to this vocoder mess
  25. Am I the only one who cries inside whenever will.i.am tries to sing (and not out of joy)? His vocoder mess makes every BEPs song sound so cheesy. I thought it was just the sample that made The Time (Dirty Bit) sound like that but after listening to this I suddenly realise it wasn't. Sigh. I swear it wasn't this horrible on The E.N.D., but then again his singing parts were a lot faster on The E.N.D. songs compared to the two singles off this so far. This will probably explode once the video gets released. They could release a video of them sitting on stools while they stare into space and the music video channels will still play it all the time. JLS and Rihanna are in the same boat there. So it's hard to say. I guess it depends on timing of the video release, too. Maybe just inside/outside the top 10?
