that is true and I agree. I'm just saddened it was an album of covers rather than something new and original

she's pretty big in Russia and middle east and huge in Mexico (amongst many other places). not many UK or US acts can boast the same. And she has also done some songs in Portugese so that helps with the Brazilian market too. I'm trying to think of somewhere she is little known but can't at the moment though I'm not sure she's done much in the Chinese or Japanese market (biggest in the world currently ?)

how about winner doing a cover of White Flag.......... it would make PeterJB's day, a Dido song back in the charts :heehee: or perhaps everyone not involved with XFactor should release their own versions of White Flag, a symbol of their surrender of the Christmas number 1 spot to X Factor forever :no:

Pretty much the same :-( Looking at sales patterns over the week for the last 2 or 3 number one albums and using that to predict The Boils sales by end of week it looks likely to be just over 400k (which is what HMV peeps were saying). it really depends on the Christmas shoppers and this Saturdays sales.

RiRi will overtake SuBo for number 10 spot by tomorrow (or sooner) :)

Sadly 287k in UK but at least we're not as deaf as the US market where she'll sell 390k. Am I the only one who can't bear to listen to her vile, grating, wailing voice ?

Total sales is an ok indicator for any given time period but it makes comparing songs across decades tricky due to overall changes to total sales. Perhaps use a singles total sales over its time in the top 75 compared to the average top 75 chart single sales over the same period. So: Quality = SALES during stay in top 75 divided by average sales for same period. An 'average' song will have a value of 1. Poorly performing songs will have values below 1. best songs will be the higest number but always above 1 Only trouble is someone needs to supply the total sales for the period (ie every week since records began !!!) so we can devide it by 75 to get the average sales
