Re JLS: Once upon a time some people said that about Take That, especially after Robbie left. Look how wrong they were. Re Spice Girls: No-one went to any of their sell out re-union gigs then ? Were the Arenas empty ? Was it just an elaborate media hoax ? :rolleyes:

EDIT: just checked Rihanna is, Alicia is the Sunday she's set to perform on X Factor :wub:. Maybe we could see Alicia get her long awaited first number 1 :o Do hope so. The song is gorgeous. Funny how we have 2 high profile songs about NYC (JaY Z and AK) out almost together... oh and don't forget the other one by (a new artist to me) Paloma Faith. :lol: What is it with New York at the moment :unsure:

I am begning to lose the will to bother looking in this forum (and some others) anymore :-( And I bet I'm not alone. Please can we stop the blatant and the implied 'dis'ing of certain artists (whether it is Leona, JLS, McFly or Robbie !) I know the mods etc have had to re-post the rules a number of times recemtly and threads have had to be closed. There seems to be some individuals that are trying to spoil it for the rest of us. You (and I suspect the Mods, Editors and Admins) know who you are.

So Spirit (deluxe) had a cover of Run and now we have an Oasis cover on Echo. what would be a good rock candidate for her to cover on next one ??! how about Led Zep stairway to heaven ? Or Queens Bo Rap....... operatic bit in the middle would be right up her street !!

And rumour has it Simon is going to help launch CC over in the States. will you then put CC into the same catogory as LL, JLS, SuBo etc ? No? thought not :unsure:

And perhaps GA have been sucessful because they worked hard at it after their initial boost from PSTR. Perhaps some of the artists from Pop Idol/XF that have done less well just didn''t work so hard. ....... which means the ones that have done well like Leona, Will Young, JLS etc have also worked hard and done their best with the promotional oportunities afforded them. I would suggest that CC has just shaded LL in the promotion stakes recently with her opportunity as a judge on the biggest show on UK TV..... and she has made the most of it, worked hard and that has led to her solo success. One side of the arguement will say both have had it handed to them on a plate the other side will say that they have both made the best they could of the opportunities given them.

Did you mean to put GA in your list ? didn't they come from X-Factor's predecessor pop idol or popstars the rivals, whatever it was called :kink:

MMH vs Happy. Very close on iTunes and BEP are catching slowly and could end up with iTunes no1 with combined sales on iTunes but when it comes to the official sales chart, other download sites and physicals are included. Does anyone have any info from the other sites ? and physical sales to-date ? Will Leona fair better in physicals come the weekend considering MMH is available on album so punters perhaps will buy the album rather than the single. could account for, what 5-10% of sales ?

BEP have closed the gap by 700 in a day and are now 5,400 behind. Also very close to equal on iTunes pop bars so its gonna be tight. Can they sell 5,400 more over next few days ? Could be all about physical sales come saturday when the early-ish Christmas shoppers hit the shops. IMO I think Leona will hang on, BEP need to be closing quicker. Go Leona :)

GaGa and/or RiRi have a really good chance of No1 as they both doing Xfactor. couple of weeks time I think. SuBo is on the week the finalist do their charity single performance in case she can't cope with being on with any real stars. Shakira could be a surprise No1 (or at least top 5) with Did It Again with her performance this Sunday on XF

I wonder what effect the X Factor factor can have on an unreleased song next week (Shakira's, Did it Again) ? oops sorry straying off topic...... I should move this into next weeks thread !

Can anyone please answer me a question or 2 ! Within itunes you can download individual album tracks and these sometime appear in the itunes pop bars and itunes chart. Is this a correct assumption on my part ? If 1 such track was very popular on iTunes but had not been released as a single at the time can it chart in the 'proper' chart or is it didcounted from main chart until such time that it is released as an official single ? Apologies Ben if this is slightly off topic but didn't know where to ask ? But I didn't add any smilies !

i think the X Factor factor will have worn off with a release date 4 weeks later. album will benefit and the track itself will shoot up iTunes into top5 maybe even higher but I'm assuming as its not released it can't chart in official singles chart as a result of iTunes sales ?

That could have been me typing your comment. Only difference is I believe the world has 4 goddesses not 3. Beyonce, Christina, Leona and Shakira. Although SheWolf and her new electro Pop style is putting her a bit too much like Madge so she may have to be demoted :-( but she's still a saint when it comes to her philanthropy :-) I know this is way off topic but hey, things are pretty dull midweek !!

Really upset by what i saw on AGT. Shakira mimiming/lip-syncing. surely not. I am struggling to understand why. Britney came on x factor or BGT not long back and lip-synced and it was awful and she was rightly criticised heavily for it. The same is likely to happen to Shakira ? It's a talent show and all the acts sing/dance live, Leona sung live (as always) and SuBo was live (but not good imo). Where has Shak's usual performing integrity gone ? I'm still in shock. I cling to the possibility that the reason it was mimed was that the show could or would not have her band on so it had to be a backing track. anyway, you are of course forgiven immediately Shakira, just please don't do it again !! :wub:

So much good new music out there and coming up...... Shak's She Wolf, Leona's Happy, The Saturdays, Beyonce.... to name but a few. I'm predicting Shewolf will hover for a while in or close to top 5 until after Jonathan Ross Friday week then go No 1. Anyway even if it doesn't, Gypsy will if she releases that. New albums from Shaki and Leona in next few weeks and Christina's is imminent. Can't wait

absolutely love Gypsy. Only Shakira could get the line 'only run with scissors if you want to get hurt' into a song ! just as quirky as the coffee machine comparison in She Wolf. Why Wait is tailor made for Shak's unique dancing style..... another 2 or 3 minutes of the drumming at the end when done live would be a treat :D

don't get me wrong please, I think it's just not my taste. I strongly believe that the song will be the song of the summer in Uk and Europe and a mega hit. It's unique and fresh, as all Shaki's songs are and will appeal to the whole dance scene and this time likely to capture the gay scene too. Look out Kylie and Britney !! Number 1 in UK and I bet lots of other places too !
