  2. Her official website suggests YLM to be new single. Under the World News section there is an entry for June 18th about her recent run of live performances of it around the US.
  3. Looks like EoF era will definitely be her most successful in UK. A couple more weeks and ESoM will catch up with the chart run of No One !! Wow, didn't expect that !!
  4. Live. The clarity, power and emotion of it is awesome. Studio version is nice too but in a different way, fresher, less dramatic, more vibrabant

Except Waka Waka surely. fun, 'ESC-style meets african rhythm' piece of catchy dance-pop. In the words of Wyclef.......... "Go Shaki, Go Shaki"

TSWaBH, ESoM, Fallin', No One and a track with BLK JCK (Black Jacks) I didn't recognise Love that top 2 are Christina  and Alicia  . Does anyone have access to any sales info to see how far apart they are ? edit: Did a bit of research............ BLK JKS and Alicia Keys will be performing on stage at the FIFA World Cup Kick Off Celebration Concert. Together they will sing “Too Late For Mama” by South African legend, the late Brenda Fassie. Fassie was an unapologetic champion of life in the townships, and her controversial lifestyle made her a people’s champion as well. She was called “The Madonna of the Townships” by Time Magazine in 2001, 3 years before her untimely death in 2004.
  7. Brilliant choice of song by Fifa (or whoever). A song that seems to cross boundaries, a potentially truly international hit.Love it. shooting up itunes :)

The Concert was last night. Opening ceremony is on at 1pm today. These are not the same things, though Shakira will be at the opening singing Waka Waka. Pleased to see so much love for Shakira in here  She stole the show last night, though Alicia was her usual brilliant self too.

Official World cup song: (edit: oops just read Bray's next message. maybe I is wrong. I thought it was official but hey........ ) Waka Waka - Shakira featuring an African groups who's name escapes me.... something like 'freshlyground' :D But it won't be a summer hit. my vote goes for 'Put it in a love song' Alicia and Bey (if her label pull their finger out and release it !)

She's apparently just confirmed/announced it today. Don't know how far she is. From eonline: Alicia Keys Baby News! Thu., May. 27, 2010 8:00 PM PDT by Marc Malkin Bryan Bedder/Getty Images Alicia Keys is in a baby state of mind. After much speculation, the Grammy-winning songbird's rep confirms she is pregnant with her and producer Swizz Beatz's first child. And that's not all… The couple is also engaged to be married later this year. This is the first child for 29-year-old Keys. Swizz Beatz, 31, has two sons from previous relationships. Keys' current four-month-long Freedom Tour wraps up on June 4. She'll also perform at the Fifa World Cup's kickoff concert on June 10 in South Africa. Congrats to Alicia  Anyone wanna guess what he or she might be called ?
  14. ^ Is that her female version of the expression "I'm the Daddy !" ??

no announcement that I saw. Only superstar to announce or confirm pregnancy I know of is Alicia Keys :D
  16. This is what she does best.
  17. #1. It's Kylie. She could sing the alphabet backwards to the tune of God Save The Queen and it would get to number 1 :P Edit: And that would still be better than some of the urban clogging up the top 10
  18. will someone please post a link or PM me the link ? I tried searching but so far I've only found the snippets :(
  19. The live (and broken down, with Linda Perry on Piano (of Hurt fame)) version is on the Hope for Haiti (or was it Help for Haiti) album. If you like the studio version you really should download the live one. It is awesome. just one of those moments..... like when she did Oh Mother on her Back to Basics tour. (just my humble opinion of course !)

I missed Bray's comment correcting me in last weeks thread when I thought Platinum collection was #10 so no surprise I thought it was now 7  Oh and I missed your comment in the Alicia AF saying the same late last week  ............. Must have been the alcohol intake :P .... or the hangover B). Anyway, I got the message now :hithead: so you can STOP SHOUTING. LOL No its not :heehee: :dancing:
  21. Oops !! I didn't spot TEoF leap frogging PC last week. i was daft enough to assume that as PC had been moving up (20)and TEoF moving slowly down (at 21) that when first of the MW reports came out with Alicia at 10, with nothing to identify which album, it was PC.

Lots of reasons there why I NEVER listen to R1 anymore and haven't for years (never convinced they weren't racist when they refused to play Shakira 4 years ago so to hear they may still be airing maybe racist attitudes sickens me)

Too much Urban staying too long in top 10 ? Could it be the iTunes affect ? 12 to 20 year olds hitting iTunes and just downloading the top 10 once a month or even every week. Just makes sure they have all the latest most popular tunes on their iPhones/iTouches, keep up with their mates. Was surprised when i heard this from one such 20yr old !! Just a thought ?

Wow at Alicia getting #7 with her platinum collection. Lots of new fans wanting her back catalogue after hearing Element of Freedom or the singles from it. Really is a golden time for her over hear in the UK....... or should that be a Platinum time !? :)
  25. just watched the friday/saturday morning show on catch-up telly. loved TSWaBH. I love that she changes things around a bit, uses artistic license. she just such a natural. agree with you Jonjo, hope it boosts her up the album chart. Also saw on the 'Over the Rainbow search for Dorothy' final that the 'Dorothy's' who already eliminated did there version of Empire state of mind. They sang it pretty well, shame the piano wasn't anywhere need Alicia's standard though !! Wonder if this will push up ESoM sales too ?
