  1. :dancing: Here's something I created in honour of another UK Number 1 album KYLIE ALBUMS PAGE
  2. Kylie Audlist, that is (featured vocalist on: Kungs vs Cookin’ on 3 Burners - "This Girl") 2Y6Nne8RvaA It'll probably be a cold day in hell before Kylie Minogue reaches the top of the UK singles chart again, or indeed the top 10. Top 40 also seems a distant hope these days, although maybe the 'Ab Fab' track might just sneak in with the publicity surrounding the film?

It is current selling 12x its nearest challenger on itunes, so I would expect it to be at least 500k by the end of the week. However, both the Band Aid 20 & Band Aid 30 versions are very poor compared to the original Band Aid and Band Aid II versions from '84 & '89.
  4. Can anyone point me to the thread which indicates all the songs that wouldn't have charted if downloads had never been included in the charts  Seriously, though, while this topic may be of limited interest in the short term, while the inclusion of streaming is still new to everyone, surely we now just have to accept that the singles chart is now calculated using the current methods.

Just found this information: No 1 Facts & Feats The Westlife one was 'Unbreakable', and climbed from #196 to #1, also DJ Sammy and Yanou with Heaven climbed from #191 to #1 The biggest genuine jumps within the top 75 have been: (70 places) 72-02 It's The Way You Make Me Feel Steps (13.01.01) (66 places) 68-02 Addicted To Bass Puretone (12.01.02) (63 places) 74-11 Macarena Los Del Rio (20.07.96) (62 places) 66-04 Every Loser Wins Nick Berry (11.10.86) (61 places) 74-13 Star Trekkin' The Firm (13.06.87) (55 places) 62-07 Coming Up Paul McCartney (26.04.80) (51 places) 60-09 Only You Flying Pickets (03.12.83) Of these, Every Loser Wins, Star Trekkin' and Only You reached #1. All the rest peaked at #2. (There may have been others more recently than this)

I think that Steps' 'It's The Way You Make Me Feel' climbed from #72 to #2, if I remember correctly. Also, there was one Westlife song (can't remember which one) which climbed from c.# 200 to #1. Both instances were due to limited number of physical copies (CD singles mainly - remember them?) being sold in shops on the Saturday, before they were supposed to.
  7. Although the introduction of downloads, and now streaming, are indeed major milestones in the history of the UK singles chart, the move to having Sunday countdowns is the one that really stands out for me. It's difficult now to comprehend having to wait until the middle of the week, rather than Sunday, to hear the brand new singles chart countdown.
  8. Wasn't 'Teardrops' by Cecil Womack, rather than Bobby?
  9. What a ridiculous situation
  10. And it has also been made available to buy from Amazon for 99p (I've just done so) for those of us who are averse to using iTunes...
  11. It was still ridiculous in 2013!

I can fully understand songs being skipped due to their explicit nature or on the grounds of taste/decency. However, I would argue that so called 'fake' versions of songs should still be played on the Top 40 show if their sales have merited a place in the chart that week.
  13. Isn't it based on sales in the last 48 hours? - hence it would still be registering sales from an active period, even though the track was no longer available to buy?
  14. It must be top 100 (combined) by now - perhaps we'll see another return to the official end of week top 100 chart, for the chart that will be announced on 15th December? I wonder if it'll ever make it to the top 75?...
