iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 17th February 2013
I wonder how many other weeks have produced three (or more) different iTunes number ones, like this week? Not too many, I suspect....

Upcoming Promo & Releases
Has Kylie's new single, released this week, been mentioned? It's good to see that it is already outselling its namesake on the itunes chart  : 251. Kylie Minogue - Whistle (feat. Múm) 259. Flo Rida - Whistle

It's not very often there's such a close three way battle for the number one single. It's been fascinating all week, and it still could be any one of the three that tops the chart. It will also be very interesting to see the MW sales reports on Monday to see exactly how close it was.

UK Million Sellers Book (November)
Reading this thread made me dig through my old books, and I found one from 2002 called 'Top 100 Singles', published for the 50th anniversary of the NME, and detailing the best-selling 100 singles in the UK. There were 76 million sellers, although judging by some discussions on this subject there may have been some innaccuracies.

iTunes Weekly Thread: W/C 7th October 2012
The Swedish House Mafia track appears to be gradually catching up Adele's Skyfall already on today's iTunes chart updates (now at 0.9000) - wouldn't it be ironic if another big midweek release failed to reach number 1 in its first full week? (although with the James Bond film not out for a few weeks yet, it could still make it in a later week even if it does miss out this week.) PS: Why is Adele's name in block capitals on iTunes? I'm sure this must've been covered before, but it's passed me by.

Ultimate 1200 Number Ones
Selecting 20 songs from the 100 was relatively easy - putting them into some sort of order was nigh on impossible, but I've had a go: 30 Pet Shop Boys “It’s A Sin” 25 ABBA “The Winner Takes It All” 22 Kylie Minogue "I Should Be So Lucky" 20 Dead or Alive "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" 18 The Human League "Don't You Want Me" 16 Kylie Minogue “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” 14 The KLF feat. "Flower" gets a release date
Any news on where Flower charted in the latest UK singles chart - surely it must be somewhere in the top 200 after spending much of the week in the iTunes Top 100?

UK's Top 60 Best Selling Singles Of The 1960's
Does anyone have an accurate cumulative sales figure for "You'll Never Walk Alone"? Perhaps its recent resurgence might take it up towards or even over the 1,000,000 mark in the next week or two? I suspect that it might get a mention or two in Monday's chart reports.

Kylie At BBC Proms 2012
I would love to to see Kylie secure another #1 album with this release, but I just can't see it. The pre-Xmas run in will already be in full swing, and sales levels will be much higher than they are at present. A proper new studio album might have had half a chance, but I really don't see this release hitting the top spot (hope I'm wrong.)

Ultimate 1200 Number Ones
I really enjoyed choosing from this week's list - there are some real classic number one singles in there! I can't help feeling, though, that my selections tend to help the songs from the last millennium at the expense of post-2000 number ones! 30 ABBA "The Winner Takes It All" 25 Fern Kinney "Together We Are Beautiful" 22 Jason Donovan "Too Many Broken Hearts" 20 Britney Spears "Oops!... I Did It Again" 18 Billy Joel "Uptown Girl" 16 Marvin Gaye "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" 14 Baddiel, Skinner and The Lightning Seeds "Three Lions" 13 Eurythmics "There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart)" 12 Madonna "Hung Up" 11 The Prodigy "Firestarter" 10 Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody" 09 Dusty Springfield "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" 08 The Three Degrees "When Will I See You Again" 07 The Spencer Davis Group "Keep On Running" 06 Roy Orbison "Only the Lonely (Know How I Feel)" 05 Feargal Sharkey "A Good Heart" 04 Robson & Jerome "I Believe/Up on the Roof" 03 The Communards "Don't Leave Me This Way" 02 My Chemical Romance "Welcome to the Black Parade" 01 Herman's Hermits "I'm Into Something Good" -02 = Cliff Richard "The Millennium Prayer"

iTunes Weekly Thread: W/C 26th August 2012
I don't watch the X Factor, and so I haven't heard the song in question, but I am now aware of it charting based on downloads since Saturday. However, it is a very sad indictment of music reality television, and the music industry/charts in general, if a song that people want to buy is pulled and is no longer available. And record companies wonder why consumers are becoming disillusioned and their revenue streams are no longer as profitable as they once were.

Spotlight - Let it snow
I like Kylie's interpretation of Let It Snow (probably even more so than Santa Baby too for that matter) It's good to have some Christmas classics, Kylie-style, for the festive period.
