  1. Part 1 & Part 2 CDs are both now £1.99 each on amazon.co.uk. Slightly lower prices might convince a few more people to buy and boost week 1 physical sales?
  2. (In alphabetical order!) Automatic Love Better The Devil You Know Closer (From 'Aphrodite' - NOT the B-side from Finer Feelings) Flower Got To Be Certain If You Were With Me Now On A Night Like This The One Turn It Into Love What Do I Have To Do
  3. However, her only 90s #1 album was a greatest hits album, rather than a studio album (and before anyone suggests otherwise, although Enjoy Yourself had a minor resurgence at the start of 1990, it only made it back to #2.)

With it now being more commonplace for producers to obtain a credit on singles, I wonder exactly how many top 20 singles from the 1980s, and early 1990s could have been attributed to 'Stock Aitken Waterman.' I think they might even give Cliff Richard a run for his money, or would certainly be in the top three, behind Cliff/Elvis?
  5. Me too - and I haven't had a *proper* Kylie goose-bumpy moment for many a year (says the person who wasn't overly impressed with the first several listens of CGYOOMH!) I'm also loving the instrumental version that has been doing the rounds on YouTube etc.
  6. Kylie - Finer Feelings (1992) Kylie & Nick Cave - Where The Wild Roses Grow (1995)
  7. About 300k more than it deserves to
  8. Don't forget the backing tracks as well - both the instrumentals and backing tracks certainly provide a unique insight into the SAW production process, with the main vocals stripped away.
  9. Most of Kylie's singles from the PWL days have now been added to iTunes as EPs. I think there may be one or two other remix bundles which are due to be added later in the week, but there's plenty to be going on with.
  10. All of Kylie's PWL albums were added to iTunes in April 2009. The addition of all her PWL era singles, with remixes, instrumentals, backing tracks etc. - ie: just about everything in existence (plus some that have never been released before on any format) are expected to be added to iTunes over the next week or two (this may as soon as next Monday - 8th June.) Search for Jason Donovan on iTunes for an idea of the extent of tracks/mixes that will be available (these were made available a couple of weeks ago), and get your credit card ready!

Stock / Aitken / Waterman must be quite high up this particular list too?
  12. And without PWL I doubt very much that we would even be discussing this today...
  13. In no particular order of merit (just alphabetical): Better The Devil You Know Finer Feelings Got To Be Certain If You Were With Me Now In Your Eyes On A Night Like This What Do I Have To Do What Kind Of Fool (Heard All That Before) Wouldn't Change A Thing + one space left for when they finally decide to release 'The One' as a single . . .
  14. Nice look - I like it! (PS: Shouldn't it be Thom Yorke, though?)

Update: 8 of these magazines, from 1995 - 1999, have now been snapped up. Just over 30, spread from 1991 - 1994 remain, if anybody is still interested. All reasonable offers considered.

As per title, see Link: Free Download: Music Week 2008 Planner Warning: The file is a 9Mb+ PDF, and so it may take a while to download (depending on the speed of your connection.) Hopefully somebody might find it useful?

I did want to try and find a home for all of them, but would consider splitting as it's not like it's a full set or anything. . . There were more than I thought for 1995: 18 March 22 April 8 July 23 September 23 December Then for 1997: 18 January For 1998: 22 August and finally for 1999: 13 March Any good?

Does anybody collect these? I have about 35 from between 1991 and 1994 with one or two others from 1995 - 1999, about 40 in total. After a bit of a new year spring clean, I'm looking to try and find a new home for them - is anybody interested?
  19. Link to the article on mse: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/site/bank-charges-song 'New' Lyrics: This is a song for anyone who’s currently spending their leisure time trying to get their bank charges back – Rubbish! It’s a long hard road and I wish the best of luck to you, and I hope my story inspires you in your times of need. Cos I fought the Lloyds and the Lloyds lost They even paid the interest and the court costs At first they sent me letters saying ‘Dear Sir/Madam, get lost’ But I fought the Lloyds and the Lloyds lost At first I tried to call them, they made me listen to Elton John I even went along in person and they said, “sorry Sir but the first rule of banking is the bank is never wrong” So I crawl home, turn the web and mitchell on Open up Mozilla and go to MoneySavingExpert.com Where they made my heart beat far faster With their talk of the banking charter Yeah I fought the Lloyds, but I could have had Barclays And I've noticed HSBC has been getting a little bit sarky It's time us clients to alliance and lets just show them who's boss Cos I didn't think I'd win but, guess what? Lloyds lost! Oh... uh oh uh oh oh uh oh oh oh overdraft Oh... uh oh uh oh oh uh oh oh oh no I’m overdrawn But life got so much better... When I logged on and saw those sexy little template letters... It’s us against the banks, time to sign that petition And play this song outside your local branch till they listen Come on you bankers! Give us our cash Cos we won’t stop singing till we get it all back Yeah I fought the Lloyds and you can do it too Tell the listening bank it's time to listen to you At first they'll send you letters saying ‘you don't have a clue’ But I fought the Lloyds and so can you I fought the Lloyds were gonna win but they didn’t They say it’s fair to charge thirty quid, but it isn’t I fought the Lloyds were for the journey, but they’re not Cos I fought the Lloyds and the Lloyds lost.
  20. Following Eva Cassidy & Katie Melua hitting the top of the chart totally unexpectedly prior to Christmas, is there likely to be another shock on the cards next week when this single, as promoted by the website moneysavingexpert.com (which has 1.6m subscribers to whom a weekly promotional email is sent), is released? It's a dodgy cover of the old Clash song, but is meant to raise awareness of rip-off Britain in the the shape of excessive bank charges. It would only take a relatively small proportion of the regular users of moneysavingexpert.com's subscribers to have pre-ordered this track (for just 50p) for it to chart quite high, and who knows - it may go all the way with very little other serious competition at this time of year?

Thanks again for the excellent commentary. Entertaining and informative, as ever. (and as always more prompt than James Masterton!)
