  1. Well, Dido had 17 weeks at the top of the albums chart, but never reached the top in the singles chart, except for her sample in Eminem´s stan... I guess 17 weeks at #1 in albums makes her relevant enough. But that´s only until late october, when her new single reaches the top spot. :)

    # 170 in amazon UK, 2 months before the release. :)

Don´t Believe In Love was *officially* sent to radio stations today. AT THE SAME MINUTE it was added to the playlists of Capital FM, BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2... Wooohooo... This is so going to be huge!
  4. The song was officialy sent to radio stations today... Instantaneously added to Capital FM, BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2 playlist.... HIT!
  5. A relationship with a 13, or 14 years old might not be acceptable in society, but biologically it´s pretty normal. Such things vary from culture to culture, and it´s comprehensible that back when human beings life expectancy was like 25 years old, that people started to marry as soon as they achieved puberty. So in that sense, paedophilia might be considered imoral by society but it´s less of an "illness" then homossexuality is, because it still allows the reproduction, while a men feeling atracted only by other men can be considered a "failure" in human nature´s natural selection, cause it doesn´t lead people who pursuit that characteristic to pass their genes to the next generation.
  6. But the singles have not even entered Top 40, lol... Another act who flopped with a comeback single in a GH is the Spice Girls: #11 with headlines... releasing a GH album definitely isn´t a good idea, unless you have enough material to release a PROPER GH... it´s not any wannabe who had 2 or 3 albums out that should release a GH, that should be only for stablished artists. And part of the hype of a comeback is the whole talking about the new music. If it´s a GH, then there´s no proper new music, except a few new songs... which explains the complete lack of hype around Ana´s GH, which will be the same with Chrissy´s GH... She´s doomed.
  7. You wish. Dido would get Top 15 if she released an acoustic cover version of Macarena as a come back...

I was not talking about the lyrics, but the music itself... It just wouldn´t sound out of place in a Jonas Brothers or McFly album. Pink is playng safe with this, cause this song is just poorer repetition of anything she (or her producers) have done in recent years. Whoever thinks a "na na na" song like this can be taken seriously in music needs some music classes...
  9. Well, people are sayng the Sugababes must go top 3 with an awful song just because of their fanbase... If that´s the case, using the same logic, Dido should easily go # 1, since Sugababes never even had a million selling album in the UK???? I think this song has massive adult airplay. No wonder Pink or Sugababes fans are not going to like it. But there is enormous hype building up, and she is being promoted as a "cool" artist. She doesn´t even appear on the CD cover, took 5 years to followup her previous album, and worked with Brian Eno from U2, Mick Fleetwood (Fleetwood Mack) and Jon Brion, play all instruments in the studio... She´s the exact oposite of the typical UK pop: sexy picture on the CD cover, one new album every year, work with faceless pop producers... She´s the oposite of Girls Aloud and Sugababes, and I can see that her main fanbase is NOT in pop music forums... This album is already legendary before it´s even out...
  10. I think ALL sugababes songs are overrated. They never did anything better then average, they didn´t come close of classics like Wannabe or 2 Become 1.
  11. But Oasis songs always fall like a rock on the 2nd week.
  12. Tipparedade = Bubbling under chart easy like that
  13. Plus, it´s not a proper "comeback", since it´s a greatest hits album. It will not generate much hype as if it was a full studio album, so it´ll be much harder. But I think this song is miles better then Pink´s So What, which is rather dull.
  14. Yes, and it fact, Dido has 2 albums that sold 3 million each in the UK. She´s a more stablished artist then James Blunt, because he was following his debut album. Many artists achieve massive sales with their debut and fail with the followup, but after 2 massive albums, probabilities of a flop become much smaller. In fact, I think she could sell 1 million of this album in UK just out of hype and fanbase, no matter how bad the singles were. But if the 2nd single is as commercial as her previous stuff, maybe this can become her 3rd massive blockbuster. I think the song goes Top 5 easily, based on her name alone. The Verve also came back with a rather weak single after years, and still managed to peak in the Top 5 with the lead single and spend a few weeks inside the Top 10. Dido is more stablished then The Verve, and I think her chances of sucess are even bigger. I believe this single is an experiment. If it doesn´t work that well, she must have some more commercial stuff in hand for the 2nd or 3rd singles.

Why? Just because you don´t agree? Please, listen to So What and pay attention. That´s not to be taken serious... She´s the female version of the Jonas Brothers or McFly.

It didn´t sold all that because the lead single... I think it would have bombed if the album wasn´t saved by "U+Ur Hand", specially in USA were it ended its first run in the Hot 200 with like 400k-ish sold. If it wasn´t for the 3rd single, the album would have been a massive flop, even worse then try This. So I predict the same now... Mediocre sales in the begining, and the sucess of the album depending on latter singles.
  17. The song is good, but there is no hype around her and releasing a Greatest Hits after only 3 studio albums is pathetic. I think she´ll flop just like Anastacia flopped with her Greatest Hits. Had this been a new studio album, I think it would suceed.

No, it´s just a commercial, manufactured and easily forgettable teenage pseudo-rock that makes Avril Lavinge sound like adult music. Dido is already hyped as comeback of the year. The Sun has an article on the new album... She worked with Jon Brion, and Brian Eno from U2. She´s a heavyweight, and taken seriously in music. Pink is not. "Safe Trip Home" is already tipped comeback of the year, as The Sun states 1 in every 5 houses in UK has a Dido album, and the new one is brilliant. Don´t Believe In Love is just a teaser. And it´s very hard in the ears for people used to listen to Disney acts, but "serious" artists always sell more albums then bubblegum acts. Remember an album is not only made of a single... And the sucess of a single not necessarily means a sucessful album. The singles charts is always filled with dull bubblegum pop, but some of that artists have small album sales. I don´t think "So What" will inspire many people to buy Pink´s albums. She will need a proper decent song as a 2nd single...
  19. Comparisons with White Flag or Here With Me are pointless... If Madonna had to make a track as good as Like A Prayer with every single, or Mariah had to make a track as good as Without You in every single, both of them would never had another number one in their careers. Not being better then Here With Me or White Flag doesn´t mean it won´t succeed. It´s better then most stuff that goes #1, and that´s what counts... But still, she´s an albums act. Millions buy her albums, so there´s not too much reason to crazily buy her singles, really...

Here´s a new article on The Sun! Hot! It says the album is amazing, most anticipated comeback of the year, and one in every 5 households in UK has a Dido album. Plus, it contains a small Dido interview on a video: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showb...icle1649561.ece
  21. Well, I think the song is awesome... But even if it wasn´t that good or commercial, The Verve was able to put their comeback single just on their name. And I think Dido has a bigger name then The Verve, so I´m hopeful.

Well, we´ve only heard 1 song of each, so isn´t it too soon to say which material is better??? I´m sure people are only voted in their personal "devotion" for each artists. Here´s my 2 cents: Anastacia´s new song is ok, but nothing special. The album might have an ok-ish 1st week, but it will need better singles to achieve good sales in the long run. Still, I think it will have better 1st week sales then Pink in the UK, altough it should sink quicker. Pink´s new song is beyond awful, almost unlistenable. Artistically, it´s value is null. It´s just a commercial cash-in in the same wave of the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, and other teenager $h!t that will be forgoteen in 10 weeks. And her "rock" attitude is laughable, since she sells to the same fans of Britney Spears. I thought this would flop but it´s doing great in the USA. But anyway, maybe the single will sink quick, and the sucess of the album in the long run will, again, depend on the followup singles, like what happened with I´m Not Dead. In the end, I think neither Pink or Anastacia will become trademark artists of 2008... This will be remembered as the year of Coldplay, Duffy, and Dido.

I didn´t like it so much first... But the song´s stuck in my head in the last 48 hours. Given proper exposure, it could be a massive hit.

She doesn´t really needs "singles" to sell... She sells because of the whole package, as she is taken serious in music. No Angel sold 4.2 million copies in USA in the back of just one song (Thank You, #3 in the Hot 100). The other singles have failed to even enter the Top 100. Life For Rent has sold 2.1 million copies in the USA in the back of a #18 hit (White Flag). White Flag reached its modest #18 peak there months after the album was already selling massive... And the other singles from that album failed to even enter the bubling under chart. But still it sold 2.1 million, while Rihanna is fighting to reach 1.7 million with an album with 7 massive hits, and a re-release. If you look at her discography, No Angel sold 13 million worldwide, and Life For Rent sold 10 million, each one of them in the back of just ONE worldwide hit (Thank You / White Flag). NONE of her other singles had global sucess, since they all failed to even enter the Hot 100 in the USA, and missed the charts in many countries... Dido is no Rihanna... She doesn´t need to force songs down people´s throats to get her albums selling like hotcakes. She has her public and that´s it. The new song is better then most things in pop today. I listened to it just a few times and it got stuck in my head. It has her personality, but at the same time is different from anything she has done. Plus, she doesn´t need to sell 10 million with each album she releases. What matters is she remains making high class music. If she was desperate for sucess, she would have released this album a few years ago (since it´s been 5 years since her last album). 5 years would be enough for most pop puppets to be completely forgotten, however, Dido still has hype surrounding her after 5 years without a new release... That´s massive and she deserves it.
