I think the same. But at the same time, I´d be frustrated if she released another "White Flag", no matter how good it was. She´s not in it just for money and chart sucess. It doesn´t matter if the song doesn´t have massive sucess like White Flag, as long as she´s doing respectable stuff. Plus, these days artists are keeping the best for the 2nd or 3rd singles...

But if she came back with "White Flag pt. 2" everyone would criticize her for being repetitive... I´m glad she tried something different. She doesn´t need to release a classic song every time. Plus, I think this is just a warm up. There might be a 2nd single until the end of the year, and a classic Dido ballad would fit perfectly as a single in december.

It might be and illness and a crime at the same time... Feeling sexually atracted by children might be classified as "illness". People do not choose whom they are atracted by - if we go by what gay people say, at least. The problem is when they turn their desire into action... and there the "crime" starts. Imagine if we could be justified to abuse any person we ever felt atracted in life who didn´t feel the same way about us??? And by the way, I think there is no real treatment to make paedophiles stop feeling atracted by children - just like it doesn´t work for men who want to stop feeling atracted by other men, for example. People should just learn to control their insticts.

The new single is said to be leaking today or any time soon... A fan in her official forum says it was played today in Switzerland radio stations... Anyone heard it?

The male rappers who do anything to "get rich or die tryng..." and the female pop "divas" are 2 sides of the same coin. What´s with those female singers who are better known from their arses then they´re voices, do anything to date cool and rich guys, put no ideological content in their music, etc... What´s the difference between 50 Cent and Victoria Beckham, despite one being male, and the other female??? They´re both icons of the greed culture to me, and I don´t get why criticism should be confined only to black rappers. White celebrities have been playng this role since Marilyn Monroe, and it seems now people are started to be ofended that suddenly, black people are getting greed too... In fact, I think average male rappers put more effort and personality in their music then the average female "divas". Most of them are nothing but sexy "icons" used to promote the product developed by some ugly producer/songwriter whose body is not fit enough to be used in a videoclipe.

As you might have noticed, I´m a big Dido fan, but I didn´t like this new track so much. But I´m sure this isn´t one of the best tracks off the album... they wouldn´t give the best for free, right??? That would kill any chances of the track being a single in the future, so it´s sure that the album must have at least 4 tracks better then this (in order to be singles in the future...). The same with Coldplay, I didn´t like Violet Hill at all, but the album had much better tracks overall...

It´s called Look No Further, and it´s taken from the album Safe Trip Home, to be released in September 3rd!!! People who found White Flag or Thank You boring will find this unlistenable - it´s the first track in a Dido album that doesn´t even have guitars or beats on it. But the track is a grower and have nice melody/lyrics. But remember the new track is NOT the lead single from her new album. It´s like a gift to her fans, just like Coldplay did with Violet Hill, while Viva La Vida was the real lead single. The new single is supposed to be called "Don´t Believe In Love".

Well, the new track is very chill out... People who find songs like White Flag and Thank You "boring", will find this even worst, cause the song doens´t even have beats!!!! It´s an obvious cash in... to use a well known sample, and release the album rushed for the Christmas market. They should take their time and release in the middle of next year, instead of rushing it just for cash in.

So you think her direction change has nothing to do with the commercial bomb of the album???? Lol.... Kelly Clarkson "mix it up"? Please. Listen to Breakaway, Since U Been Gone, Because Of You, and her other hits. It´s nothing that Avril lavigne, Pink, Miley Cirus, Hilary Duff and thousands of other bright-eyed teenage blondes of the USA haven´t done 1000 times in the past...

Why not give recognition to artists that already make their music, instead of "encouraging" mainstream artist to go making their music??? Well, Kelly might be writing stuff but it probably going to be just fillers, or maybe she´s just doing the lyrics, which anyone without much music knowledge can do - specially because pop lyrics like her are very common sense, easy to make. But I don´t have any doubt that, to sell this album, her label will rely on melody and production by some big name of the industry, just like she did with Since U Been Gone and her other hits. She´s not the type of artist with credibility to sell on her songwriting skills alone - she proved with the flop of the last album. She needs a hit, done by professional hitmakers, like Since U Been Gone...

You mean, 2 million overshipped copies??? Obviously after coming from a massive blockbuster, record stores thought the she would have conquered enough "fans" to sell at least 1/6 of what the previous album did, no matter how poor the promotion and the quality of the music itself were. But they were fooled, and most of the shipped copies must be left in the shelves... :unsure: :unsure: The problem with Kelly is that in her last album she tried to write and be involved in the music as much as she could. This time around she will be smarter and pay someone else to do that job. <_<

That´s so true... Mariah´s Glitter and Victoria Beckham´s album are 2 examples of albums that went top 10, but finished with total sales around 50,000...

What makes you think Kelly Clarkson has a bigger fanbase then Dido??? Dido had two consistent, back to back, million selling albums that topped 10 and 12 million worldwide respectively... Kelly Clarkson had a massive worldwide smash of 12 million, followed by an album that strugled to achieve 1 million worldwide sales. That´s what you call "FANBASE"???? With Madonna and Mariah, no arguing, since they´re around since decades... altough Mariah´s fanbase in UK is not particularly big since ages. And are you seriously sayng that the reason Britney, Madonna, Mariah and Kelly´s last albums flopped because of them having a BIGGER FANBASE??? What the heck... A bigger fanbase will NEVER be a cause of smaller sales. Even if fans are not pleased, they will buy an album... Every Madonna or Britney addict have bought their last albums even if they thought it sucked! They´re fans, and fans collect stuff from their idols. To blame the poor sales of the above mentioned albums of fanbase, period of the year released, lack of promo, etc, is just denyng the obvious truth: the musical material featured there was pure $h!t, and no one with minimal musical knowledge would ever take that seriously, so not even the heavyweight name of the artist was enough to ensure decent sales. Just listen to Give It To Me? What the heck was she thinking??? If that´s the quality of a single from that album, I wonder how are the filler tracks, or even the b-sides. It´s HIDEOUS. Please... to say Madonna, Britney and Kelly have no promotion has got to be a joke. Dido released an album in the rush to christmas (well, not at all since it came out in september but was consistent enough to stay around the top 3 until february of the following year), and even after selling 5 million copies until the end of the year, it still had strenght to sell another 5 million worldwide in the rest of its run... Far from being a Christmas-only sucess. I believe when an artist is coming from a huge selling album and has a consistent fanbase, it does well in its first few weeks even without much promo, because of fanbase. When an artist goes from a 12 million seller to a 950k seller you can´t really talk much about "fanbase". Talk about a fever that passed quick... People who demand much promo and a big hit to buy an album are not really "fans", they are just eventual buyer. A "fan" would buy an album even without hearing the songs.

But aparently, it´s the FANS who hate the new song... which means it might not be very pleasent to the general public...

It does not make my opinion more valid, but the fact that Dido´s music is taken seriously in a much wider audience then Sugas/Girls Aloud means its more credible. I have a point when I can´t stand people sayng Dido is "dull" or "boring". People find it "boring" because they can´t stand their favourite divas doing 500k at best, while someone with absolutely no shine and glamour can shift millions of copies worldwide. Me, and millions of others find her music exciting. In fact, I find any real music exciting. Not karaoke songs sung by three models over a pre-recorded track they bought from Xenomania.

I have not heard it, but hell, reading this topic makes me thing the reception is overwhelmingly bad. Sugababes were never huge at all. They´re not the type of act who can sell nice amounts just on fanbase. Considering their last era wasn´t that big, then this might become the final backlash of their career.

That´s the problem with rushing a new album every year. They should take their time to produce decent material, like serious artists do, without caring about the year calendar...

But why should it be hard??? All they need to do is take a week or two and sit their butts in a studio chairs to add their vocals, to an already finished musical background...

Comparing Dido with Britney, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Anastacia, etc, is not comparing like with like. Each artist has its different areas of work. Dido is a singer/songwriter, and that´s it. Obviously, someone who expects a circus show or a dance number will find it boring... On the other hands, Britney is a performing act. She is all to do with dancing, wearing different clothes for each song in the tour, giving the press what they want (scandals), etc. But she´s no songwriter, and her quality as a singer is questionable. It´s not a fair comparison at all. It´s like comparing a singer with an actress, or a sportsman with a desginer. It´s not comparing like with like cause they´re in different types of work, which requires different types of talent. Honestly, we can´t even compare Dido´s songwriting habilities with the ones like Britney or Pink, for a very simple reason: Dido makes her music, wether is dull or not. Britney and Pink are just stage acts, but they have professional hitmakers behind her music. Their input in songwriting is minimal. They might be just responsible for the lyrics (which are stupid anyway, any 13 year old school girl can write verses like the average pop song) and get their name alongside someone like Linda Perry, Max Martin, Danja, Glen Ballard, etc. So in the end, "dull" is who compares different types of art to say Dido is boring. Compare Dido to other singer/songwriters, not with dancers or entertaining acts. But, for some reason, the "etertaining act" model has been failing badly in the last years... maybe it´s the internet, youtube, that makes people find other types of entertainment so they don´t need to buy these artists material. But look at the record sales of current Madonna, Mariah Carey and Britney, Kelly Clarkson releases... it´s laughable. I mean, Britney´s last album have not even sold 1.8 million worldwide. That´s less then the sales of Dido´s last album in the USA alone. And Kelly Clarkson, I wonder if her last album even crossed the million mark worldwide... In USA I know it´s stuck with like 700k. On the other hand, when you look at the sales of Coldplay, Amy Winehouse or Duffy, and Alicia Keys in the USA... you see people are interested in "music only" acts, rather then performing divas. That´s why I think the time is suitable for a new Dido release. SonyBMG has already noticed it and is putting loads of money into promoting it... The era of performatic pop acts is fading since the Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys in the 90´s, and the backlash in Madonna, Mariah, Kelly Clarkson anb Britney sales just shows it...
