Why do people always have to relate UFOs with life outside of the planet???? UFOs are nothing but Unidentified Flying Objetc... You saw an object flying and you don´t know what it is. People see that everyday. I myself have seen 2 times. I could have thought they were aliens, but most likely its a normal object that I couldn´t identify. But maybe the increase in UFO´s appearences have something to do with the increase in drugs use?

I agree that her 2nd album was not as strong as her debut, but still a great album. The reason why LFR sold pretty much the same as No Angel is because No Angel was so damn great that almost everyone who bought it just HAD to buy the followup. With the new album, I believe she might sell very well on her name alone. I know several people will buy it even without hearing a song off it. Dido is one of the few artists that can sell to pretty much any public. I know people who bought Dido´s albums and also enjoy AC/DC or Kraftwerk. And at the same time, mummies and daddies who only listen to "adult" music. She´s been trough every public, from teenagers to old people, male, female, straight, gay, etc. That has been the key of her sucess so far. I just hope she manages to keep it with her new album.

Not huge, not flop... it seems that Sugababes and Girls Aloud always sell to the same restricted market.

That´s just personal opinion anyway. Dido has nothing to do with James Blunt by the way. But I mean in relative terms. One who likes Pink Floyd or AC/DC can say that Dido is simply dull and boring. But come one, somebody who likes Pink, Sugababes, Girls Aloud, Britney, is not in a serious position to say anything about a serious pop artist - that is Dido. There is no dispute that she is musically superior then teenage discartable pop.

And how does it makes her terminally dull??? By not being a local UK act making discartable pop that will be forgotten in 15 minutes... she is aclaimed worldwide and has released 2 of the best albums of this decade. She is critically aclaimed in places where people have not even heard about Girls Aloud or Sugababes.

TBH I don´t think the lead single will make much difference for 1st week sales. It will only make a difference to its stayng power. Sucess in november/december is a given, cause even if the first single is not very good (very hard, since she only releases good stuff) it will sell... Imagine how many people will buy it as gifts???? Out of the 2.8 million who bought Life For Rent, and 3 million who bought No Angel, imagine how many would be buyng this album even without hearing its first single???? I mean, she is a credible artist, her music has a continuity. It´s not like she needs a blockbuster hit to make people buy her album, people will buy only on her name and their trust in her past material. Plus, Sony/BMG has already announced she is their biggest hope for this year. They´ll put so much money into promoting this. Expect she will be EVERYWHERE by the time the album is released, cause Sony BMG is already planning mammoth promotion. To those who said it will sell less then 100k or even just 100k in its debut week, honestly, I think it´s just wishful thinking. But realistically, even a hater will admit she´ll do more then that.

How on earth can someone say Dido is dull and await for a Take That, Pink, Anastacia, Britney, U2´s albums... U2´s last album was pathetic (altough I love their older albums). Plus, even if Dido is "dull" that doesn´t keep her from having massive sales. She´s sold almost 6 million copies in UK with just 2 albums released. How many artists do that? I think there is no other artist in UK history to sell 6 million with its first 2 albums. 1 million for this album is a given, even if it underperforms a lot.

And did that help anything on her musical career??? No. In fact, she was the least sucessful solo spice girl, and the spices comeback with Headlines flopped its arse off. A huge celebrity in the papers, a joke at record sales. I can´t imagine how anyone even considers talking about Liberty X or Atomic Kitten in this album wars thread. They´d both be so damn lucky if their albums can sell 50,000 copies...

Her last album opened with 400k. This time I think she can repeat the feat or even best it, because it´s being released on november, with a much warmer market. (Life For Rent was released in September). I´d say around 450k opening week, although total sales should be less then her previous albums. If she releases an underperforming single, then I´d say around 200k, but I don´t see many chances of she coming anywhere lower then 150k in fact, just on the vacuum of her previous records.

Guns N Roses are not seriously releasing... they are scheduled every year, but the album never comes out. Kelly Clarkson and Britney are not serious contenders. Their previous albums flopped horribly, and with teeny music, the tendency is to get smaller and smaller after each album. Dido will shif 1.5 million with ease IF she really releases the bloody album. Wether she goes any further then this, depends on how popular her new music will be. But if its being released in november, and she´s coming out of 2 blockbuster albums, 1.5 million is a given even without a radio smash. Wether she becomes the best seller of the year, depends only on how Duffy and Coldplay will sell from now on, and if she scores radio smashes. If she has a hitsingle as big a White Flag, then she should beat her own record by having the quickest 2 million seller ever in UK history. If the new singles are big flops without much radio aceptance, then she will just finish between 1-1.5 million ,which is already massive comparing to other female artists. I don´t see many of the others on the list being big competition, at least in UK. They should all do well, but not bloody massive. Pink will only do well if its a slow burner: artists like her never sell like hotcakes in just a few weeks. She needs many hits off an album to warm up an audience. I´d say she will sell about 300k by the end of this year, and will continue to sell trough 2009 if she scores more hits. Wether her album will be a big seller or not, depend on how many hits she can score in a sequence.

I think Coldplay will end up with it. In much less space of time, they have sold almost 800k, but they still have more singles to come. Lost will be a huge hit when it´s released, but I can´t see Duffy having more big hits from now on... By the Christmas time, Coldplay will have hits on the radio that will lift their sales to the roof. Dido is a chance too. Life For Rent was the quickest album EVER to make the 2 million mark in UK sales. She is not an ordinary act, she is one that can sell a ridiculously high amount of copies in a relatively short time.

It´s just ridiculous that people think of the psycological suffering of a kid who feels like being from the oposite sex, yet they think there is no problem is "suspending" puberty until they´re 17... Hell, ya, a 17 year old person who has NOT passed trough puberty is surely going to have a very nice life in HighSchool... It´s bloody pathetic to talk about gender as being like a style of clothes you choses and/or change whenever you want. You are just born with it, just accept... I would like to be a few pounds bigger, to weight a bit less, to have blue eyes, etc... I just have to accept myself the way I was f***ing born. It´s sickening that these news encourage people to go trough surgery to change their physical characteristics instead of working out to accept themselves the way they are. And IMO it should be criminal to even consider sex change surgeries to children or adolescents... what happens if when I´m adult I want my pen*s back??? No you can´t just take it off and put it again whenever you want, like a plastic doll. So just let the people grow up until they become adult enough to consciently decide to mutilate themselves. Hell, don´t even talk about the suffering of these kids on school... they´re obviously going to suffer 100 times more by being a 16 years old adolescent with the voice of a 5 years old kid... or being pointed by kids in the school as the one who got his pen*s mutilated. Obviously this doesn´t apply to hermafroditism, which is a biological disfunction. But as far as I know, hermafrodites are born with the 2 genders, and they just have to choose one out of them. It´s a completely different case when one is born 100% male or 100% female, but just "feels" like not being it. A childrens personality is not completely developed, and if the mind is not completely in harmony with the body, changing minds is easier and less painful then artificially changing your own body.

And don´t rule out Coldplay... Their album has already sold 800k in just a few weeks, and if Lost becomes the huge hit I believe it will be, it will make sales skyrocket.

Well, I think Duffy might end up higher, only because it´s been around since ages, and Dido´s album will have only 2 months. I know Dido´s new album might not be as huge as her first 2, but come on, flopping??? There is no real possibility for that. Coming from 2 albums that sold 3 million, and releasing in November, this album just doesn´t have any REAL chances of selling anywhere lower then 1 million in the UK - which would not be as good as her first 2 albums, but still enough to lead 99% of other females stars in the dust. I reckon Dido´s 3rd album will be inside the top 10 or even Top 5 of 2008 even if she releases a lead single with no sucess and minimal promotion. She won´t do a "James Blunt". Don´t forget she has passed the "difficult 2nd album" test. By making her 2nd album sell almost the same as her debut she has proven herself not to be just a "fever" or a one album artist. Plus, Sony/BMG will put tons of money into promoting this, cause they know she is their biggest hope of the year. I reckon Duffy and Amy Winehouse won´t be such hugesellers with their next albums. If you look back in history, for artists who had massive selling debuts, Dido is the only exception to achieve the same sales with her 2nd album. Even the Spice Girls, who were a massive fever, after selling 3 million with "Spice" could only sell a 1.7 million with "Spiceworld". Alanis sold 3 million with "Jagged Little Pill" and her 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th albums COMBINED have not matched that already. Shania Twain also sold 3 million with "Come On Over" and her followup wasn´t even a Top 3 hit. Dido´s back to back 3-million-sellers is a rare feat in UK music history, if not unique, so her 3rd album will sell 1 million with much ease just on the vacuum of this sucess.

PS: the piece of work was not only exposed in the guatemalean bienal of art, but it ended up winning a prize...

I don´t know what the law says in his country, but I suppose it´s not criminal there... Otherwise, it wouldn´t have been repeated many times this form of "art". Obviously the guy has no real artistic talent and benefits from the controversy generated to make a name for himself. Well, obviously dogs die in the streets everyday, and so human beings die of hunger every minute in the world.... What shocks me is not the death of a particular animal, but the fact people admire suffering and get pleased with it as a form of "art". Look at the people walking around in the video. I wonder how come nobody had the idea of hand the dog some food...

It´s not one cases... They´re hundreads. Just like in ANY profession where people have direct contact with kids. Mentioning paedophilia when speaking against religion is completely stupid... as if any religion have ever supported it. And NO, paedophilia among clergymen is not more usual then among secular/lay people. Any well informed person knows that. My aunt is a psycologist and she deals with kids who have suffered abuse... most of them were abused by their own parents, some of them by doctors, teachers, brothers, cousins, etc. She´s still to hear any case about a priest/clergyman. Most of child abusers are drug or alcohol addicts, and not the typical church-goer or priest-like.
