Acording to christianity anyone who does not serve God is a devil worshiper, there´s no mid-term, a well educated atheist and an ignorant ritualistic satanist are devil worshipers the same way.

Satan is not a particular name, it´s an adjective, as is Devil, and other words oftenly used to describe the immaginary horned monster that is the "evil god" that will sent people to a place full of fire, etc etc etc... It´s not a name, it´s an adjective. Jesus has refered to one of his apostles as a "devil" because he betrayed him... In other passage when the apostle Peter is tryng to convince Jesus to escape his sacrifice, Jesus says the famous phrase "get behind me SATAN", wow, he was not using the word Satan to refer a mitological horned monster, but one of his own chosen disciples.

I don´t agree human beings are the worst creatures in the planet... You can´t pick things in nature and just say "this is good, this is bad". Nature doesn´t have judgement or morals, this only started with the human race, just to say humans are evil you are already using a moral judgement from humanity, which is contraditory.

Agree, and not to mention slavery was also common among african nations before they were colonized by Europe, tribes enslaved each other it was common, so they´d have to apologise to themselves? Racism exist from white to black people just like it exist among different black groups in Africa. That´s exactly the reason... I don´t need to point japanese and chinese to say foreigner... Americans and british are foreigner to me too. We´re not talking about the japanese nation itself but just about something that is happening there, just like we talk in many other threads about stuff that happen in Britain, USA, etc. It´s mad to say we can´t condemn a particular vile action just because it happened in a different culture and it must be xenophobia.

The difference is that a fish and a mammal are completely different animals (unlike someone pointed above that sharks and dolphins were extremely similar - just because of their exterior "fish" apperence), when in fact mammals have a brain much more developed the reptiles, fishes, and other inferior animals like insects. People feel more empathy for them for the same reasons you feel (or should feel) more empathy for a hungry human being then for a hungry dog... I don´t think westerns have more respect for animals then easterns. For an hindu person, killing and eating a cow would be a scandal, just like touching a pig for a jew would be a moral disaster. The thing is, everytime we make criticism about something that is happening somewhere in the world you will come and point to other stuff happening in our own countries/cultures. Just like we have to be silent about it because people kill foxes in UK. I didn´t see anyone supporting this attitude here.

The topic was a reaction for "the way they kill the animals". I´m sure that if you post a video of a cow being killed in the most painful way and slowly just for fun or superstition would upset people the same way... If they have to be killed then do it quickly and not for fun.

It´s no snobbery, and why you have to be so rude, to be honest I think you go to over the top with your political correctness, that sees every criticism to another country or culture as some type of vile prejudice. When you have a cancer you will want to go to a doctor or use some vegetable from China or India? Herbal remedies existed a lot longer than modern medicine just like horses existed a lot longer then cars... And I don´t see the relation to killing dolphins, are they used as herbal remedies? The thing is we´re not discussing about simply killing an animal, but the fact they have to cause the maximum pain and torture to it and for unjustified reasons. I´m not sayng traditional medicine is useless, it´s not, but I´d never use it instead of scientifically proven treatment when I have conditions.

I don´t agree killing an animal for medicine purpouses is the same as killing just for fun and causing the maximum pain as possible. I don´t put "herbalist traditions" in the same level as real medicine, be it western or not.

But I think it´s better to see fields destroyed by us then see fields serving to nothing... Imagine vast tropical forests existing on Mars or in Jupiter... would be useful for nothing. None of these vegetables will ever write a symphony or a sonet. We should preserve them only for our own good because without us they wouldn´t be worth at all. Why is everyone worried because of the global warming, if the entire planet is covered with water life will go on and evolve, and adapt itself... since most of the living species on this planet are extint it´s only natural that the current ones will be extinct too and give place to the next ones... We are not worried because of the forests, the cute animals, and stuff... We are only worried because of ourselves. So what in 2 million years this planet might be water only and there will be marvellous new types of aquatic animals and vegetables of all colours, but who cares, we won´t be here to see it and our species is damned. And by the way I don´t think dinosaurs ever been intelligent/clever, neither wales or dolphins, they just to what every animals do, sleep, have sex, eat, give birth, get old, die... What makes our species important is the stuff we do in between these ones that evert animal does.

Because if we were reptiles you would ask "why not mammals?", and it´s obvious that the more primitive animals have to exist for longer then the ones evolved from them. And then reptiles are not so able to adapt themselves to different ambients like us because of their body temperature. The planet doesn´t need manking, as far as I know it doesn´t need any type of life, life just exists, it´s not necessary to exist life, why do the universe exists? It´s not necessary at all, I mean, it´s useful for us, but if we weren´t here this planet would be nothing but a rock floating in the nothing.

It´s very easy to blame all their actions on the ocident... in fact, i´m not scared of it cause the probability of a western citizen to be victim of one of these attacks is one in a billion. Plus, we were talking about muslim states (not paralell - terrorist - organizations) and how they act with their own people - which are their biggest victims.

I´d say the contrary, the christian right in America is a puppet, not GWB is a puppet of them. Remember he only "convert" just when he entered to his politic life... You can´t be elected in USA with a christian identity. He cares about religion just the same as any average ocidental person does.

Hmmmm.... sounds a bit like conspiracy theory. I still believe we have negative effect in nature. We destroyed huge areas of forests and replace them with industry. Nature has to respond someday. I think 0.5% is a LOT when it comes to nature stuff. It´s not only about how much CO2 we emit, but also how much green areas we have devasted, which means less CO2 being naturally absorved.

Thinks like that happen in USA sometimes... They´re justice is so obsessed with reparing any damage, moral or physical, that it comes to absurds like this and ends up punishing the victim more then the evil maker. I heard of cases of people who invaded mansions just to be bitten by dogs and get indenizations.

But popular artists and the media with "power to direct public´s opinion" walk hand in hand... teenagers and kids are certainly influenced by MTV and stuff. Remember it was reported recently in a BBC humour show they throwed a Bible in the garbage... Well, I´m all for freedom to express your ideas in an artistic way but I somehow doubt they´d have courage to do the same with a Kuran. In the UK it´s fashionable to dislike christianity, and popular artists and the media walk hand in hand. They drive public opinion, and also, it´s usually the media who choses which artists will be popular and which will remain unknown. Of course I´m not deluded thinking we have 100% of freedom in the ocident... but be honest, it´s not comparable to the situation in practically ALL islamic countries. In countries like Saudi Arabia you can´t even express an opinion contrary to islam publically... and that includes being atheist or having a different religion. You just have to keep these ideas on your mind and don´t talk to anyone. HARDLY the same situation as you have in UK and US, right? In fact, in the UK if you profess the majoritary stablished religion you´ll likely to receive more criticism then if you are in a minority group or an atheist. This is a direct result of how our cultures have been developed... Even tough every religion has been used as a strategy by the secular power in history of every civilization, in the phylosophic essence of christianity secular power and church are completely distinct things, and no person at all has a permission to take on violent acts to spread the religion. While in islam is a totally different paradigm. Religion and state are the same thing in this culture, there is no such separation. Power is given to the authority to "defend" its religion. Things such as religious freedom, or freedom of speech will never be possible in an islamic nation. Bring on the racism allegations, but it´s not the matter.... Islam is a religion of more then 1 billion people, black, asian, white, european, etc. It has nothing to do with race.
