24th November Releases!
I suppose the Killers will open with more then 300,000 copies of their album sold... they hype is immense! Guns N Roses have a huge fanbase, however the music on the new album is almost unlistenable, plus this isn´t even the real Guns N Roses, it´s just a sickened version of Axl Rose with some random musicians. Velvet Revolver was more "Guns N Roses" then this new G´N´R.

What's up with these "deluxe editions"?
So basically, there´s to reasons to re-release an album: 1) your flopping and none of the album tracks is good enough to become a hit, so you need to add more commercial songs. ie: Shakira, with a pop/rock album, had to add the commercial "Hips Don´t Lie" to make Oral Fixation sell. 2) your album has already sold $h!tloads and every possible track has already been a single. So why not add more tracks to be singles and sell a bit more? ie: Rihanna, Amy Winehouse, Duffy... In other words, either if it flops or suceeds, it seems that all pop albums are going to be re-released at some point...

Proposition 8 Passed...
Hmmm you just get deeply ofended by someone sayng gay people are more likely to listen to Madonna and less likely to enjoy football, yet you seem to like a text that pretty much stereotypes gay people as being designers and hair stylists only worried with fashion and stuff. And the most offensive of all, in one paragraph links gay people directly to prostitution, as being objects used by straight males to do what they can´t do with their wives!!! Sorry, but I don´t understand how gay people can feel comfortable reading this junk, being stereotyped as fashion/sex machines.

Proposition 8 Passed...
How do you put Martin Luther King at the same place of some random hater on an internet forum??? You talk about people in the past who were actually fighting for THEIR rights, not just oposition every other group of humanity that was not with them. The politically-correct-gay idiots from this forum (which I beleive is not representative of the whole gay movement in the world) are just about hating anyone else who doesn´t curve to their own ideas in life. It´s not like they just want their place in the sun, they just want to destroy anyone else.

Proposition 8 Passed...
The mouth speaks what the heart is full of. I´m really sorry for you, hope you get a real life someday. How can someone who admitely hates an entire group of humanity speak anything about "homophobia" or any type of hate at all??? Get a life... When you become a decent human being you can start criticizing other people´s prejudices... I thank God everyday my life is not based on hate... Hope you can experience that one day.

Proposition 8 Passed...
What can I say, it´s just gross generalization. The nazis didn´t justify their need to kill gays (aswell as jews, blacks, gipsys, etc) on religion. The neonazis who appear on the news here and there killing gay people also aren´t particularly religious, neither the random jamaican rappers whose lyrics have been posted here. So it´s just gross generalization... there´s no argument against something that is only wishful thinking. People who hate religion find it easier to blame everything on religion, yet when they see hate groups that are not linked to religion at all they will just shut their eyes, as usual, and deny the truth. It´s easier to find an expiatory lamb...

Proposition 8 Passed...
You could win a nobel prize in medicine if you could prove this old myth.... I don´t have a G-spot behind my arse, I can tell I don´t have an orgasm when I evacuate, or either when I have to do a prostate exam. And by the way, women don´t have a prostate, yet some of them like to do anal sex. In fact, I suppose women are more likely to have passive anal sex then heterossexual male, so it´s pretty much a fact that liking anal sex has nothing to do with your prostate. After all, the prostate is present for all men - straigh, bissexual or gay - so if it´s really a "G-Spot" that should be stimulated by anal sex, then anal sex would be pleasureable for ALL men - not just gays or bissexuals, which just proves the myth is bollocks. And after all, the prostate gland is really linked to male sexual pleasure - as it is stimulated on REAL sex, which envolves the sexual organs, also known as pen*s and vagina. Just because it´s placed behind your back doesn´t mean it should be stimulated from there, and after all it´s even risky to do it...

What's up with these "deluxe editions"?
Some don´t announce, but it´s very predictable... Who can´t tell that the Beyonce cash cow won´t be re-releasing her new album sometime in 2009....

What's up with these "deluxe editions"?
Maybe it´s a precedent because it´s not usual for re-issues do debut at #1, and also because Leona´s Deluxe Edition only contains to extra tracks: Forgive Me, which is months old and was on the american version of her album, and her cover version of Run. It just couldn´t have been more of a cash-in. At least, other Deluxe Editions, like Amy Winehouse, included loads of extra material: new songs, videos, live versions, etc. Leona´s is just cheap, cheap, cheap material, that is suceeding because the british sheep have seen her on X-Factor, and like robots go there and buy it... (even tough most of them must already have the original version of the album).

Battle of albums on Nov 17th... who´s gonna top the UK chart
I understand that many people don´t like Dido, however I can´t get the fact some people rave about the idea of Leona Lewis being #1 again. What does this add to the chart at all??? It´s just another marketing trick that worked well. The charts become more and more predictable with stuff like this topping. It just takes a robot puppet to do a song on X-Factor and release a single next week and Simon Cowell gets another instant #1 hit. I would even prefer Beyonce or Nickelback (even tough I detest their music) to be #1. At least it would be an "old fashioned" number one: artists who made songs and became popular trough public aclaim. With mass media getting more and more powerfull, the #1´s become more and more predictable. It´s just whatever puppet that gets shown on X-Factor or does some "charity". I don´t even remember when was the last time we had a "serious" Christmas number one. Christmas used to be a major event on the charts... the most popular artists of the country were fighting head to head to see who was going to have the most popular song. I remember the Spice Girls having the X-mas number one 2 consecutive years. How memorable is that? They achieved legendary status in just a few months of activity.... Those were the days for the charts. Now, when it comes Christmas it´s not even funny to bet who´s gonna be #1. Whoever it is, it´s gonna be the winner of X-Factor or another reality TV show. Someone who was anonymous in the previous weeks, suddenly hits the #1 on the most important week of the year. People like Leona, Westlife, Girls Aloud, etc have ruined all the fun there was in the UK charts. I´m not sayng that just because Dido flopped (cause she would flop with or without Leona, and in fact she´s even lucky to get #2 at this time of the year with such low sales...), but even during all these years that Dido has been absent of the music universe, the battle for the #1 has been just a battle for who can appear on most TV shows possible... I miss the time of slow building hits that conquered the public through being really catchy. I can´t almost understand why Dido seems to be sick of this industry so that she even refuses to do a TV show.

Battle of albums on Nov 17th... who´s gonna top the UK chart
Well, I still stick to what I said, that if Safe Trip Home was properly promoted it would have a huge opening week. Beyonce is on course for #8 after one of the biggest hits of the year... Dido on course for #2 after a "ghost" release. Really shows the potential she has. I just didn´t see the fact that the album would be unpromoted was coming. However, Dido remains the biggest selling female artist of the week. Simon Cowell and X-Factor gets the #1. I stand by my opinion that, regardless of being boring or not, Dido is a real artist. Leona, Pink, Girls Aloud, Sugababes, etc, are just marketing puppets. Beautiful people used to sell products that are done by people who are too ugly to appear on TV.

Battle of albums on Nov 17th... who´s gonna top the UK chart
Well, in this case, I can say Dido didn´t suceed because she didn´t WANT TO... Still, I can´t think of many UK females who, after a 5 year absence from the media, would still be able to comeback with a Top 3 album in November without doing ANY promo. Do you think if Leona took 5 years off and came back without promo she would even be recognized??? What about Pink???? You compare people whose only purpouse in life seem to be achieve fame and sucess, to someone who doesn´t even botter... Pink did better then Dido, yes, with a HUGE hit that was #1 and played everywhere. It just proves my point that pop puppets needs 10 times more exposure to sell the same as real artists would. With a hit as big as "So What" or "If I Were A Boy", and promotion as good as Beyonce/Pink do, Dido would shift 10 times more then them... It´s a proven fact by her older albums stats. It´s not my attitude towards Dido that changed, but it´s Dido´s attitude towards sucess and fame which changed. I think she´s finished as a popstar... Not because the flop of this album only. There´s several artists who recovered from flops worse then this and became bigger again. But it´s like Dido doesn´t want to. I can´t imagine she working hard to have another sucessful album again. Plus, by the time she releases a 4th or 5th album, she will already be in her 40´s. If she really wanted to gain her sucess back, she would with easy. If this album is able to shift 70k copies with NO promotion, then if she did at least 3 big TV shows and had put some remixes of the lead single out (like every popstar does), and leaked the video for it in time, BEFORE the single was out, she would shift 200k with easy... But for your information, DBIL didn´t even had remixes or a b-side, and its video was sent to music channels almost weeks AFTER the song was already released, and at this moment she still haven´t performed it live in the UK. 70k would be massive with such low effort. I doubt any of your pop puppets like Leona and Pink would be able to score that...

Battle of albums on Nov 17th... who´s gonna top the UK chart
Yes. No, but apparently is just schedule. She is doing 3 minutes interviews in random radio stations in continental Europe, where she doesn´t even perform, just talk. In USA she has done 3 big TV appearences. Apparently, she thought the United Kingdom was her "guaranteed" market and she needed no promo there. The irony is the album is heading for #1 in many european countries, where it will probably chart higher then the UK. Nothing special, it´s good but not like No Angel and Life For Rent. Not many single-worthy tracks. DBIL was one of the most commercial tracks... If that couldn´t peak higher then #54, then anything else will strugle to even enter Top 200. Honestly, I think Dido is finished as a popstar.

DIDO - Safe Trip Home
It´s fallen to #2 on current midweeks. It was pretty obvious, considerin she was just 500 copies ahead even with all her pre-orders included. Now, after all pre-orders have been counted and the most die-hard fans have already bought it, the free fall starts. I won´t be surprised if the album ends up in lower Top 5 at the weekend, and has a chart run like 5-20-40-75 - out...

Battle of albums on Nov 17th... who´s gonna top the UK chart
Why? If she was just 500 copies ahead yesterday, even with her big pre-orders included, then it was pretty obvious that Leona would surpass her in a second. I won´t be surprised if her album ends at lower Top 5 by the end of the week. This album is a miserable flop.

Battle of albums on Nov 17th... who´s gonna top the UK chart
Anyway, the big irony of the week is that Dido´s album has been launched without any promo, after a media absence of 5 years, and with a flopping single that failed miserably at radio, yet she achieved to: 1) sell 2 times more in the first day as Beyonce, who has the current biggest hit of the moment and promoted her ass off. 2) sell on the 1st day almost the same as Sugababes album did in its first week entirely, despite the Sugas had an airplay #1 and promoted everywhere. So yeah, Dido has shown her potential is unique among pop females. It wouldn´t be fair to expect she would achieve the magical numbers that Life For Rent had without a mere TV appearence to back this album, and with the lead single being the lowest airplay hit of her entire career so far (even the 4th singles from her previous album had more airplay the DBIL...).

Battle of albums on Nov 17th... who´s gonna top the UK chart
And what has being upbeat to do with not being dull???? IMO, Beyonce and Britney are dull even with their upbeat tracks. Not everyone is a teenager who only listens to party music...
-
Well... I never expected this!
Don´t take this seriously. Before releasing X&Y, Chris Martin also said they would take more then a decade to come back, and would come back with an album of dance music. It turned out to be that they just took the typical 2-year-gap between albums and came with an album of usual Coldplay style. The guy is just joking.

DIDO - Safe Trip Home
Yes, but just 500 copies ahead Leona :( We cannot be sure at this time. Beyonce is no threat, tough. She´s flopping, at #8

Battle of albums on Nov 17th... who´s gonna top the UK chart
Dido is ahead in the midweeks, but just 500 copies separate her from Leona, the #2. Beyonce is no threat. She´s flopping. Like I said, she might have huge hits but isn´t credible enough to get people buyng the whole album...

DIDO - Safe Trip Home
Acording to projections, she´s going to beat Beyonce!!!
-
Battle of albums on Nov 17th... who´s gonna top the UK chart
Acording to early projections the UK´s biggest seller of the week will be the Now compilation (which doesn´t count to the main chart), with Dido heading for the #1 artist album. Not only Beyonce is not #1, but she is also behind Il Divo, only at #3... That would be a fantastic scenario, to see Beyonce failing miserably with a huge single and Dido going tops with an unpromoted album :)
-
Battle of albums on Nov 17th... who´s gonna top the UK chart
Acording to music week, Beyonce´s last studio album has not even sold 400,000 copies in the UK, what Dido´s last album sold in just 1 week. Even if Beyonce goes to #1, she won´t ever have the hugeness that Dido once had. Plus, I´m thinking everyone is downloading her song cause they think she´s not an album´s worth act, and with Dido it´s the inverse situation.
-
Battle of albums on Nov 17th... who´s gonna top the UK chart
Well, TBH, I think Leona, Duffy and Nickelback are out of question... Il Divo won´t have strong enough sales this week either to remain at #1 for a second week. The battle is in just for Beyonce and Dido. I still have hopes that DBIL wasn´t such a big flop after all... maybe people were just waiting for the album, cause they know Dido is worth the entire album, not just the single.

Battle of albums on Nov 17th... who´s gonna top the UK chart
HMV albums chart (it´s not the pre-orders chart, it´s the actual albums chart with pre-orders included): 01 DIDO 03 BEYONCE 11 NICKELBACK Amazon UK albums chart: 16 DIDO 37 NICKELBACK 110 BEYONCE Itunes UK: None of them is listed in the Top 100, but Dido was until yesterday, and she peaked at #14 more then a month ago. Remember all these pre-orders since many weeks ago are being added to the album´s first week sales. Dido also have a deluxe version of her album coming, which is counted separetaly for online retailers rankings, but will be added to the album´s total in the official chart. The ranking above are considering only the standard version of the album.
