George Bush has joined a methodist church just months before the elections. Obviously, he KNOWS he has to affiliated to some christian chuch to be elected (in all USA history there was only 1 catholic president, and virtually all others were filiated to traditional protestant denominations). However, he was never a particularly religious person. And I don´t see a problem in electing a white christian guy in a country where the majority of the people are white christians, why would the elect a muslim or an atheist. Not that I think presidents should be chosen by religion, but it´s clear that the ones from the predominant religion will always have a vantage, or would you be comfortable having a president or a prime minister who thinks it´s "normal" to be married with 12 wives and thinks killing a pagan is completely justifiable by the laws of God...

And what does it has to do with religion or specifically the catholic church? You´re mixing things up. No matter how many people have died because of the western attacks, at least every 4 years we have the right to kick the ass of anyone who is in the power, and if we don´t do is because we don´t want it. At least our women are treated like equal human beings and not like a freak animal who has to cover the entire face and cannot go out without the permission of her husband. We can go to a church, a sinagogue or just be in the internet writing in a blog on how detestable the church is and God doesn´t exist... And when you rape a girl you know that it´s YOU who is going to be punished and not the victim, this is called civilization, I don´t think Israelis or americans killing palestines is worse then an Iraqi president killing his OWN people. Have you ever thought that the islamic world is made of 1 billion people, a large part of which is at this moment STARVING because of the corruption of their own governments, and there are millions of muslim women that are treated like $h!t, and the worse of that is they don´t have ANY perpective of getting any better then that because that is their system and it´s considered an offense to change it. And the fact that 95% of the terrorists in the world are muslim is a phrase I quoted from a magazine National Geographic years ago, in an article which was written by a MUSLIM who was mourning about this sad fact. Westerns kill for money and for oil, easterns kill because of that and also because of religion.

From what I´ve seen they´re just reflecting the facts, sometimes with the typical tabloid exagerations. It´s not their fault if 95% of the terrorist in the world are muslim, and if every ocidental country that has a large muslim imigration community is facing problems with it. Plus, the tabloids are not slagging their religion at all.

Low attendence to church is a global phenomenon in the western world, not only in the catholic church. I read somewhere that in some escandinavian countries, even tough 80 to 90% of the people are baptized in a lutheran church, more then 50% of them don´t even believe in God and only 5% attend to church services. It seems that they are all going to shut the doors sooner or later and religion will become past in our western world, unless islam crosses over here, which I hope not.

It has nothing to do with religion, but every person is innocent until proven the contrary, that´s one of the basic principles of our civilization. Can you write down a list of priests who were PROVEN to be involved in this cases and were not punished by the church? Excommunion is an eternal sentence, wouldn´t it be unfair if one was punished and then discovered he was not guilty? Too bad I am not a catholic to fit in this typical religious-type. I just think anyone, from any religion, should be considered innocent until the contrary is proven.

Have these "allegations" been proved? I think one has to be considered inocent before the contrary is proven.

Well, in a topic which title is about an artist kicking the other artists arse chartwise you say you don´t care which one sold more? It doesn´t matter if you care or not, the message wasn´t even directed to you. Obviously Shakira fans are desperate to highlight her name from insignificant statistics like this, because they don´t have anything great to note from her recent album sales.

Isn´t a commercial album? Is this just an excuse to say the tracks are not good enough to sell? If she was doing alternative music or something experimental like Kate Bush then you could say it´s not commercial, but she is doing generical pop/rock, just isn´t good enough to sell by the loads... They had to re-release it to include a proper hit, and if you look at the fact ages after that song they still haven´t released anything else from it just shows that the label KNOWS nothing else from this album has the potential to be a hit. Plus, COADF is even less commercial if you consider USA don´t buy dance music. It´s a proper dance album and sold more then OF2, can´t remember any other dance album selling more then a million there recently...

This is the best thing you have to say, lol.... What a huge kick of ass Shakira is doing on Madonna. COADF sold 1.550.000 in USA without any airplay, and OF2 sold 1.460.000 with a record breaking airplay hit. In other countries where Hung Up has been as big as Hips... Madonna kicked her arse a lot. Sales of COADF on 1st week alone in UK are bigger then the total for OF2. 4x platinum in Europe and going, while OF2 struggled to reach is 1st platinum with a re-release and is already leaving the chart. WHAT A KICK OF ASS.

This is c**p. First, the chart run of ANOM on this post is from Hot 100, which counts both radio airplay AND digital sales. On the airplay chart, ANOM peaked at # 21... Then it doesn´t mention if it is from UK or USA, but I suppose its USA. Otherwise, Pink would appear with most recent hits like Who Knew which was way bigger then ANOM in UK radio.

Lol, and who cares about this list? So Shakira has a bazillion points with Hips Don´t Lie, and a few more songs, and what acurancy does it has? If you look at their site, it´s nothing official, and even fans votes are counted into the chart. Plus, if Hips Don´t Lie was all of that this album would have sold millions... The reason it spent so long in the charts and sold so many singles and downloads is because most people didn´t think it was worth buyng the album. In the USA, the re-issued version of the album has not even sold 1 million copies, with is something to be ashamed for an album that features "the biggest hit of the century", lol (Total album sales are just under 1.5 million there but it counts more then 500k which where sold of the original version). SO, after all this, her album sold around 3 million copies worldwide... what a big deal. I bet James Blunt will be pissed off and trade his 11 million copies of Back To Bedlam sold for the glory of being # 1 on mediatraffic song´s chart, lol. Hips was a novelty just like Asereje. Less then 300,000 copies sold in UK Less then 1,5 million sold in USA Pretty pathetic for an album that features such a huge hit and was release in 2 different versions.

Obviously everyone thinks the music they listen is good, otherwise they wouldn´t listen to it. I think my music taste is good, I don´t list to classical music even tough I should learn some, but in terms of "popular" music I listen to pretty much any genre, and I don´t care if an artist is considered cool or not by the media and ridiculous magazines specially from the UK... In the end, it all depends of my mood, what I´ve been listening too recently is Matisyahu, Nightwish, U2, Paul Van Dyk, Sixpence None The Richer, etc. I have some guilty pleasures, as I loved 90´s dance music and the spice girls, but I never admitted liking the spice girls EVER.

UK has a much bigger population, and also autralian chart doesn´t count downloads, so proportionally both countries are head to head, I think. The UK charts sales would be looking pathetic if it wasn´t for downloads.

Anyone knows the airplay chart of the week? (top 100)

This week it sold around 35k in USA. It´s really sinking like a rock. This album will be nowhere near as big as Stripped.

Society in general. They use to adopt the majoritary religion in each country, so as I live in a mainly catholic country most, if not all, masons I know are catholic and practicing. I´m almost sure they must have some type of religious/mystic meaning tough, but I don´t know if that´s the main point on being mason.
