  1. Well, I hate football, but it doesn´t matter what he said, teams will give the job for someone who is competent, regardless of their ideas in life... They´re not paid to be philosophers, they just need to make the team win...
  2. That´s pathetic. She has not even released anything this yeard already. Corinne Bailey Rae won "best song of the year" for "Put Your Records On", which is from 2009... These awards are just random.
  3. Dido is the least promoted so far... But everything can change if they are leaving all promo left for the last days. Still I don´t think it´ll happen, cause that´s 2 weeks before her album release. Realistically, I´d say Beyonce will chart higher.

Dido and her label are really doing the worse job possible with this album. What a load of sh*&&*(*( they´re doing! Just 9 days away from the single release and there isn´t even a video out! This song just HAS to flop! General reception from the public was really bad, and even some fans disliked it. And she wants to suceed with this unprofessional promo?
  5. At least, Dido is putting a deluxe edition of her album out on the same date as the "normal" version. That´s more honest to the fans. I reckon it´s not Duffy´s fault, tough, record labels are doing this with everyone to cash in the maximum as possible. I wonder if Duffy´s followup album will be as big as her first one. Cause I really lost the count, this decade, how many artists broke with an enormous sucess with their first mainstream album that it looked like they would enter the all time pop pantheon, but then just followed it with something that sold 1/3rd or even less. The list is enormous: James Blunt, David Gray, Scissor Sisters, Keane, Killers, Maroon 5, etc. They all had a breaktrough album that sold so much it seemed like there was simply no stopping them, but then followed it with an album that was just "moderately" sucessful. So far, Dido has been the only one who followed a truly massive album with a second album with practically equal sales. She doesn´t really have the obrigation to have another huge album this time around (and I think she won´t), cause she already had 2, when most artists simply can past the "difficult second album..." test. It seems that many artists are getting to big with just 1 album this days due to immense hype they receive. But after the 2nd album, they just aren´t "hot news" anymore, and magazines and Radio 1 will just start to crazily promote someone newer, and then the hype fades. In the old days, being sucessful for a longer period ensured artists bigger sales, cause their credibility would just grow. Now, sales aren´t based on credibility, just hype, and things are working the contrary: the older you are, the more albums you´ve released, the more your hype is fading, so less interesting you are. To have 2 back-to-back 3 million sellers in UK is already enough for her to leave her mark in music. Dido never really enjoyed being a "celebrity", altough she pretty much did her job in the past performing on TV shows and doing interviews. She´s older now, and 4 years out of the spotlight might have made her even more "camera shy", plus, with the death of her father it seems that she became even more melancholic. If you look at new pictures she looks a lot thinner compared to her "No Angel" days, and she hardly appears smiling in the videos like she used to be in the past. I think Dido won´t really move a finger to make this album a sucess. If it just happens "magically", then it´s okay, but if it demands her any exposure or hard work, I think she´s not going for it.
  6. ^ So if that person you meet becomes your future husband/wife, you will have to remember this song for your entire life even if you dislike it, lol...

To chart, Anastacia just needs her single to be advertised. Any recognizeable artists with a single advertised on itunes will sell enough to enter the Top 100, I reckon.
  8. Overstaged posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Yeah, isn´t that true? Yet it has been #1 on itunes in random places like Italy, Greece, Spain, and other countries where Dido is not as big as she is in the UK. Without any TV performance, any music video, and any promo after all ^_^ Plus, she is an albums act. What´s the point buyng a single track when she has credibility enough to sell her entire album? I myself wouldn´t buy it. I´d save my credits for buyngs singles from acts with less credibility...

If you had brains you´d have noticed her album is Top 20 more then a month before its official release, and the album´s lead single has not been release yet... The track that appears there is just because it´s given away with album pre-orders. The lead single of the album is busy reaching Top 10´s, and even a few #1´s in other countries where it´s released, before it arrives in the UK by the end of the month, when promotion has properly started. The Snow Patrol album is release almost a month before Dido´s, anyway. It doesn´t matter because both Snow Patrol and Dido´s albums are going to be massive, no matter who sells the most. They´re the kind of act who can get people pre-ordering their albums before they even hear it, because they´re not just media freaks who get instant sucess from appearing in a TV show, then plummet.
  10. This sounds like a Celine Dion track... It could be huge in USA, but I don´t think it will be big in UK. Probably a Top 10 debut, then plummet.
  11. Hmmm I love it... And me thinks it´s a dead cert Top 5.

    BILLBOARD DIGITAL SONGS - TOP 50 -- 115 DIDO DON'T BELIEVE IN LOVE 10061 999 0 10061
  13. The fact that some people find it boring won´t keep it from sucess... Min you that it has been Top 10 on itunes in practically every country it has been released, except USA, and #1 in Italy and Greece! That´s with almost no airplay and no video. If it is released after promotion kicks in and a video is premiered, then it will have even bigger chances in UK. I just don´t see it missing the Top 5... the hype around a Dido comeback should be enough to Top 5, and now it´s really starting to have airplay (up #63>#25 on UK airplay chart).
  14. Nobody will be disapointed, unless it´s completely delluded to think Dido´s album would sell in just 6 weeks what Duffy has been selling for 12 months. That´s hardly a competition. Plus, it doesn´t matter how much it sells and where it ends up on year ends listing... Dido´s album is just going to have massive sales dead cert.
  15. Is this a serious competition? Duffy´s album has been selling the whole year, and it even has a re-release coming soon... Dido´s album will be released just 6 weeks before the end of the year. Even if Dido´s album was like the most sucessful release EVER, it wouldn´t be the top sellers of the year simply cause it has no time! Duffy will probably close this year with 2 million copies sold. To reach this amount in just 6 weeks, Dido´s album would need to sell an average 300,000 a week, which is just beyond human to expect. People forget that this is a low key album with small promotion.

Her new music is very different from her previous albums. She´s not doing a rap or a hard rock song tough. But still you can say, either her stuff is predictable or innovative, she IS doing it. Britney, Rihanna or Girls Aloud are NOT doing music, it´s just their producers who make music for them... Their presence on the track makes minimal difference, since it´s not THEIR effort. That´s what I like about Dido, people can say her music is bad, but still it´s HERS, while Britney can go from a ballad to a urban track, but it´s just someone else´s music that happens to have a celebrity on vocals. It could have been sung by anyone... That´s what make artists like Dido to keep their fanbases from an album to the other. If I like her current album, I´ll look up for the next. But if I like the current Britney album, I´ll just check the credits to see who produced it, and then search for new things from that person. Other artists music quality varies based only on the producers/songwriters their labels choose them to do. That´s why I don´t get people sayng Dido´s not involved in it... With other artists you have labels telling them what producers to work, when to release, what type of attitude to have and even what clothes to wear. Dido is generally considered bland because people expect a clown in the pop scene, but she´s just a normal woman doing music. She just can´t change her personality just to fit her label´s plan...
  17. Overstaged posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
You sayng you don´t like her new music doesn´t mean she´s not involved in it in any way... That´s what I don´t get. You talk as if she´s done nothing with this album and is only her label doing everything. What did you expect? Dido to manufacture her CD´s with her own hands? How is the average pop singers more involved into their albums then Dido is? Most of them can´t even play a chord... Well, OBVIOUSLY artists like Madonna or Christina can show a much bigger chance from album to album then Dido. They just hire the producer of the moment and make a song that fits radio :D . I don´t see how is that being innovative or risky? She could just call Timbaland and say: make me a new single, then make a video like a $l*t, act controversial, and then you have the pop culture "impact". Who ever said Dido even WANTS to be a pop culture icon? To me, it´s clear that she hates to appear on TV and give interviews, etc, and she hates even more to see her personal life stamped on magazines. Then you say you´re not a hater but it´s hard to believe, because the arguments are so pointless it looks like you tried very hard to find something against Dido. Well, the recording of the album obviously finished a few months ago. What´s so wrong about it? Every artist takes a few months between finishing the album and putting it on sale... Then you say she´s cashing in the Christmas market. And what are all other artists doing? Britney released an album like 12 months ago, and she has a new album out very soon. THAT is what I say cash in: to rush release an album to take on the Xmas wave. Dido took 5 years to release this... ANYTHING but a cash in. And I don´t get your point when you ask: "where is Dido?". True that she´s not on X-Factor or Sctrictly Come Dancing, but how does that diminish herself as an artist? What did you expect her to do? She´s recorded an album and that´s it, she´s a musician not a clown or entertainer. And obviously, her new single is different from ANYTHING she´s done in the past... you sayng it´s just the same old makes me doubt you even hear it! Obviously she won´t cause a shock like Madonna or Christina with each of their era changes, but hey, she´s making HER music, not just hiring different producers to manufacture a new icon with each album...
  18. By the way, she is higher then Girls Aloud on airplay now... She is #25 (up from #63), and GA is #30... who would have thought? I think this easily jumps into the Top 10 in 1 or 2 weeks...
  19. Well, it´s 2 biggest competitors were Girls Aloud and Leona. Leona was put forward 1 or 2 weeks, and the Girls Aloud track will be released a week sooner, so it will not coincide anymore. Still, she´s an albums act and her biggest focus is not to produce singles hits. I mean, what´s the point having a #1 single and selling a mere 500,000 copies of the album? That´s hardly any money to be made from the singles market...
  20. Overstaged posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Well, she has modest airplay so far, and there´s not even a video out from this song... If she sells just a half of what her previous album did, that will already be massive. To be disapointed with sales of less then 400,000 in a week is just crazy. True that her last album sold 400,000 in one week, but that was an all time record for a female artist. She doesn´t need to beat a record with every release she has. It´s like you´d expect every Britney Spears album to open with more then a million copies in USA, just because "Oops!" did. Dido doesn´t need to sell as much as she did with LFR because the music is not as commercial this time around, and I don´t even think she is expecting this, otherwise she wouldn´t have spent 5 years to follow up her last album. Most mainstream pop singer would be forgotten if they took 5 years to follow an album, I believe ones like Rihanna would become almost anonymous. If Britney took 5 years to follow up Baby One More Time I think she would not be here today, cause all the hype would fade. But Dido is winner... She took 5 years and her comeback is still anticipated, even without any media appeal. You hardly see her on celebrity magazines, yet she´s still remembered only because of her music...

Are you just being crazily ironic on this? She spent more then 2 years making this album, and she not only wrote and sung but she has played several instruments during the sessions. Tracklisting done by her label? WTF are you talking? She was on control with everything... She is not Britney/Christina to just put her voice over a pre-recorded track she had no artistic involvement in... This is definitely NOT a record label cash-in, otherwise it would have been released 4 or 3 years ago, like the usual cash in artists who release a new album every year: Sugababes, Girls Aloud, Britney, etc. How can this be any manipulative? a woman taking 5 years to follow up a 10 million selling album... Sorry, but you just said bull$h!t. ^_^
  22. Overstaged posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Well, but it´s a random album track, not even a single! And obviously, the album is selling very well on pre-orders. There´s no way this can be considered a flop. But even if Grafton Street was #1 on itunes (which would be crazy, cause it´s not a single...) it wouldn´t be chart eligible anyway, cause it´s given with the album. By the way, Safe Trip Home is #9 on itunes Australia, #3 on France, and Grafton Street is #16 on itunes France. The album is out only on Nov 17th. Looks like Dido´s haters will be disapointed again at her sales...
  23. Safe Trip Home is available for pre-order in many countries at itunes now!!! You get the track Grafton Street in advance. In France, Grafton Street is already #16 on itunes, and Safe Trip Home is #3 on Top albums. In UK, Safe Trip Home is at #18!
  24. Overstaged posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Flop? The album is already # 18 more then a month and 1/2 before its release and you say it looks like flop? Even before real promotion starts and a video is out? This will sell $h!tloads...
  25. Then what´s the point in a poll when nobody has heard the album? It is not necessary to hear an album to predict how it will fare, you just have to look to airplay stats and the general hype.
