Hadn't been playing Dire Straits and Lloyd Cole as much in the last couple of weeks so put them on and in anticaption of Saturday's concert I dug out the vinyl re-issue of the Saw Doctors' debut album. Most of the entries on the tracks chart have been explained in the albums commentary but a handful haven't. The Undertones were supporting the Saw Doctors at their Belfast show but there is another reason why Thrill me returns so high. A few weeks ago I mentioned the Northern Ireland broadcaster Gerry Anderson. Last week saw the 10th anniversaryy of his death and in tribute Radio Ulster broadcast a daily "Best of..." show which included clips of some of the track he used to play. Thrill Me was a regular on his playlist when it was released - in fact it was through Gerry's show that I found out that there was a limited pressing on 7" which I managed to get a copy of. The tracks by Chip Taylor, Dana Lyons and Henry McCullough are all ones I came to know through the show (the latter 2 I bought on CD at the time). Henry is the only Irishman to have played at the original Woodstock and later went on to play in Wings. Chip is best known as the writer of Wild Thing and Angel of The Morning.

The main attraction was Liam Gallagher performing the Definitely Maybe album along with a few other songs from that era. To kickstart the day a local tribute band - Roll With It - did an afternoon show at the Limelight venue in Belfast city centre. This was the very place that Oasis themselves played in 1994 - in fact they got word that Definitely Maybe had gone straight into the UK charts at number 1 as they prepared for that show. The tribute band recreated the setlist from that night before playing a few bonus tracks as an encore. Interestingly tickets to see the tribute band worked out at just over £12 including fees. The tickets for the original show were a mere £6.75. This week saw the announcement of 2 shows by Snow Patrol to coincide with the release of their new album. After managing to get a ticket for Belfast I dug out the only Snow Patrol album I have - Up To Now. I also managed to buy a ticket to see Bad Manners who are doing a few Irish shows later in the year. Some random tracks coming up on Spotify - Shaky, Propellorheads and Scooter.

With the news that Betty Boo has a new album available to pre-order it was time to go back and listen to a couple of her earlier ones. Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter both climb into the Top 10 and are almost joined by Shahboozey who dips slightly. Kid Kapichi were guests on the Chris McCausland show on ITV and performed Can Eu Hear Me on it. I was supposed to be going to see Madness in Belfast on Friday 9th but after the rioting in the city earlier in the week and a planned protest on the night of the gig I thought it might be safer to resell my ticket. Despite this One Step Beyond manages to enter the Top 50.

Good luck getting a response there! Myself and a couple of the regulars on UK Mix have been trying without success since this started happening. The contact us section seems to be unmonitored and emails keep bouncing back. The twitter account was handed over to the OCC at one stage. On Wednesday evening I tried one of the email addresses listed on the OCC website out of desperation. To my surprise not only did I get a reply within an hour, they have forwarded it on to someone at IRMA. Now I just have to hope they get back to me.

I also had a long overdue listen to another Charlie Landsborough album and having heard the new Black Star Riders track I had another listen to their most recent album (Why Are The Rats? was originally planned to appear on Wrong Side of Paradise). Bryan Adams also released a new single this week - it's OK but I don't know if it will repeat the success of some of his other songs. I've been hearing Good Luck Babe more and more over the last few weeks and it has really grown on me. I used the DJ option on Spotify during the week when I couldn't decide what album to listen to and a couple of the songs it threw up have made the chart.

The other album I dug out this week was U2's Joshua Tree which I haven't listened to for a long time. Some recent singles make the chart including Coldplay, Shahnoozey and Sabrina Carpenter. I'm going to see the Saw Doctors later at the end of August so they will be making an impression on the charts over the coming weeks. Sound Sham is their upcoming single. Although it isn't dropping until mid August it charts via the original version which appeared as a bonus track on the 1996 CD single for To Win Just Once. Speaking of new singles, Weird Al's latest Polka medley has been released and debuts at 34. Doing much better for him though is his mash up of Money For Nothing and the theme from The Beverly Hillbillies which came up as a suggested video on youtube when I watched Polkamania.

This one which weighs in at 3 hours 45 minutes was recommended on a Springsteen fan forum. Alisha's Attic and Sandi Thom popped up randomly on Spotify along with Rick Astley. I may have been cheering on Spain in the Euros but 3 Lions was everywhere and I do actually like it. Finally a random new entry at 38. Back in the early 2000s I used to listen every morning to the Gerry Anderson Show on BBC Radio Ulster. Sadly when I changed jobs in 2008 there was no radio in the new office so that stopped and that was the last time I got to listen to the show as Gerry died in Auguist 2014. However someone recently shared a fantastic youtube video on Facebook a few months ago - a recording of a full show from 2012. It turns out that there is an entire channel of recordings (all full shows) and there are over 700 shows on there with more being added. One of the great things about the programme was that Gerry chose the music and there was a lot of stuff played that you wouldn't otherwise here. Lambeg Rant Rap was one of those.

After focusing on the new album from Bon Jovi I went back to New Jersey And from the mid 90s two completely different acts - Scooter and Charlie Landsborough. While I had the record player on to listen to New Jersey I put on the vinyl edition of Live 75-85 as well. This week saw the release of the first single from the new Public Service Broadcasting album. After the disappointment of their last album this sounds like a return to form and I took a risk and preordered it on vinyl. The Mark Ambor song has grown on me after hearing it on the NI Hit 40 show and the other entry is there after rediscovering a YouTube video where Dutch DJ Gerard Ekdom lipsyncs to the song.

At the start he asked if Shaboozey could get a 6th week at number 1 - he already managed that last week. After Bl3ss / Camrinwatsin / Bbyclose he said that the song had climbed 7 places to 17 - in a manner of speaking it had, but over 2 charts, as last week it was at 21 where it had moved to from 24 the week before when Hix last presented the show. While these have a logical explanation the biggest mistake can't. At the end of the first set of future hits he played Tears by Perrie introducing it as her new single. The song was actually in the chart in each of the previous five weeks with a run of 24 - 27 - 22 - 23 - 29.

Since the start of the year I have noticed that DJ Hix has paid more attention to telling listeners about the songs movements but this for the most part is in the Top 20. It actually took longer than usual. Even allowing for what must be the poorest ever design of a website that the OCC have inflicted on us I discovered a couple of issues on my own spreadsheet. First on the singles chart Tyla / Gunna / Skillibeng - Jump seemed to reappear on the spreadsheet for no apparent reason (though I did discover that it had been titled as Jumped instead of Jump during it's 4 week run). Also bizarrely there seemed to be an entry on the spreadsheet for Chappell Roan for a song which didn't actually exist and Charli XCX - Boys also randomly reappeared. I've checked through my posts here and everything seems to be in order so I don't know what happened. I have now ammended the Jump / Jumped mixup. Next was the album chart. The OCC website has Nursery Rhymes by CoComelon as a non mover at 27. On my spreadsheet I seem to have been allocating these to CoComelon Essentials. Upon checking, the latter album has made a single entry to the Top 100. Nursery Rhymes entered the chart in week 9 at 89. The following week Essentials entered at 50 while Nursery Rhymes fell out. Neither appeared in week 11 and Nursery Rhymes returned in week 12 and has been there ever since. **Currently in the process of correcting the previous posts**
