Perfect Illusion vs Perfect Celebrity
Out of Gaga's two "perfect" songs, which do you prefer?

The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
'Wouldn't Change a Thing' has never been a massive favourite of mine, although I do like it more now than I used to.

Mimi Webb & Meghan Trainor - Mind Reader
I think (for example) Faithless and Bebe Rexha is a lot more random 🤣 This sounds a lot like 'Espresso' in that clip.

I've known of Jive Bunny, but I think that's the first time I've ever knowingly heard it. And probably the last.

I'm so here for this! What happened with it not getting released here in 2008 was criminal and to this day I'm convinced they screwed themselves out of a top 5 hit (even though it's now a gold seller regardless and I think it's well-known enough that most people would assume it had been a UK single) Much as I was pleased to see the resurgence for 'Unwritten' last year, I did kind of wish at the time it had happened for 'Pocketful...' to get its moment in the sun.

Lorde - Virgin
At least she's not doing the whole "I'm not releasing it on CD to save the environment but here's a load of vinyls" thing again!
-
Aitch & Anne-Marie - LUV?
Oh no, don't make me whip out the Brenda gif again... !

Julian rates every 21st century Top 40 hit
I remember at the time that Milky track was everywhere and I thought it'd be a #1 contender, I was quite surprised to see it land as low as #8! Even today it feels fairly well-known.

UK #1 Singles Missing from Streaming Platforms
I had a look into this on PopActivism's Twitter as I've been wanting this in particular to become available, it seems like they've been trying to get it for years but the rights lie with one of the guys from Lucid - whether he's neglecting to respond or deliberately holding it back is anyone's guess!

Out of the "big 3" what is your next single choice?
Honestly I think any of these would make a good choice. I feel like 'Garden of Eden' makes the most sense though and could become a classic single for her, that chorus is big.

JADE - THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY! • 1st Album
They really should've just put it out straight after FUFN, I don't see how they think they're gonna get a hit bigger than that at this point.

What UK records does Kylie hold over Madonna?
She does now! (thanks to streaming bumping the numbers up) Although before streaming, the highest was 'Into The Groove' on 800-something-k.

Leona, and I don't even like her version at all.

- The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
'You'll Never Stop Me Loving You' is an absolute tune, although it does kind of feel like they're in a "we can make anybody a star" phase. 'It's Alright' never used to be a fave, but over recent times it's grown on me a fair bit. I suppose it's quite different for them, but in a discography so vast and so brilliant it falls by the wayside.- Big Songs That Were Ineligible For The Charts
This is from the Wikipedia page: The band originally planned to release the single in the UK as a two part CD set as well as a 12" vinyl release. However, several radio stations refused to play the single due to its lyrical content, which would prevent the song from charting highly. Undeterred, the band reshuffled the release into one 7-track enhanced EP for CD, which would be ineligible for the charts. They issued a statement via their official fan club website, which read: "The British Music Industry which has recently been championing disposable, facile pop and music which promotes homophobia, misogyny and violence has in it's [sic] infinite wisdom, taken offence to the lyrical content of our new single 'Special K'. "This combined with our ongoing dissatisfaction with the two CD system, since we feel it rips off genuine music fans, has forced us to take the decision to bypass the system completely. 'Special K' will therefore be released on one single, available at regular CD single price, and comprise of 8 items which will make it non chart eligible. "We feel this is the best deal for our fans and that it drives home the statement that we don't care about chart positions. "Take care and have respect for each other. Keep the faith and never let the sycophants and small minded people of this world get you down. Sincerely, Brian Molko Stefan Olsdal Steven Hewitt"- Big Songs That Were Ineligible For The Charts
It did chart at #55 though, was one format of it (like a vinyl) allowed or something? But yeah, I couldn't believe that at the time. I was expecting to see it appear in the top 10 that week and then it just didn't. I highly doubt it would have been, it was already on an album which had sold reasonably well and Christmas 2001 was very fierce competition-wise. I always imagined it'd be like a #4 at that time or something. I'm still pissed off at what happened with that though, as it's my favourite song of theirs! - The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
