A song that’s a year old in the scheme of things isn’t really that old.

I don’t think the artists matter as much anymore. Artists like Harry, Okivia, Ariana can release and yes they will get no1 First week as people listen to the song and they stick around as the songs pushed on a lot of playlists and start off on a high level but it’s the songs now that matter and they are the ones that stay stable and are the big hits. (Taylor is the only one that goes against this trend albeit maybe her songs are decent but we are moving into the range of opinion at that point). As for the article it is a good article. I kind of looked at the 60k number as the general sales that’s needed to be no1 rather than literally 60k streams to be no1.

3rd Qualifying Rd The third qualifying round got underway tonight with bigger European leagues entering the league route including Olympiakos, Lyon, Sparta Prague, Union St and the team that have shocked everyone in European competition over the past few years Bodo/Glimt. While in the champions route the minnow leagues of European football continue to cancel each other out in their unlikely aim to reach the few group stage spots they get after playing 8 gruelling summertime games. Maybe that 5th spot shouldn’t go to the top 5 leagues and give one of these leagues a windfall. Albeit the result will be the same team being in from that league every season as they dominate it financially.

I always thought this, Dai Dai yes was a World Cup song which was lifted by this promo but it’s still new to the charts, is now elevated on big playlists by its increasing popularity and could continue to rise over the next few weeks and months.

I’m getting these images in my head of what straight pubs look like - full of people enjoying RMI with their hands in the air and discussing how great ‘Ordinary’ is. On a more serious note, I think music is like everything else so divided up in terms of people enjoying it and streaming being used by most people now that this is the way things are. It’s like big moment TV now rarely people watch things in mass events apart from a few exceptions.

How can you tell? Bryan’s and Frankie’s have been around decades whereas RMI is a year old, just because you aren’t a fan doesn’t mean others think the same. I think the guitar part at the start is rather memorable and nostalgic. Again, though, that’s just me.

It’s because people who were born in 2010 have prob never experienced cds and are now 16 so think it’s cool and retro to listen to them, same as with vinyl 15 years ago. Same with the kids who aren’t buying AirPods and want earphones or earphones with wires again.

You really are contradicting yourself now without realising it. You complain that RMI has ‘only’ done well in the UK/Ireland/ARIA and not the US and that it’s top of all the streaming playlists to demean it when in the US charts songs do well because a radio station plays them (and it likely paid by record labels to play them) and that counts towards the chart.

I do think he has taken them as far as he can if they aren’t going to invest in the squad.
