iTunes Chart // August III - September I
It's Bank Holiday Monday so people should be downloading more today, Sugababes could well be #1 in a few hours.

PREDICT: Girls Aloud - Untouchable
I'm surprised it didn't make top10 considering they are supposed to be at their peak now as an active group, Cheryl is supposedly the most popular woman in the entire universe, they are on tour at the moment and it's the 3rd single off the album, not the 4th or 5th. Plus, it doesn't take that much to get into the top10 at the moment. Maybe the fact it isn't a very generic, catchy song? It's also baffling that as soon as X Factor ended they have gone backwards.

US Billboard Top 200 Albums - (with sales)
Thanks. Nice to see Adele -19 will get gold certified in the US.

Hits Daily Double - US Top 50 Albums
I didn't think Lily was #1 material in the US, she has more of a cult following than to outsell Grammy winners etc.
-
Hits Daily Double Lily possible bb200#1
36% is already in and Taylor Swift has 50k at #1, so you are telling me she will only sell about 30k for the remaining 70% of the building chart?

Hits Daily Double Lily possible bb200#1
Spirit was only released last year lol, it's not like it is the highest album debut for a British female in 10 years or something.

Take That 'Up All Night' [New Video]
It's crap, they are not good when they go out of their comfort zone and the fans and record buying public don't embrace it when they try to be Beatles-lite. They are really only good at soaring ballads, thanks to Morrisons "Shine" is also $h!te too.

Billboard Top 200 - 1 January 2009
Why hasn't lady Gaga sold more albums when she's doing so well on the hot100? Good to see P!nk go up on the album front, she was another strange one to not do anywhere near as well as on the hot100 with her album.

German Top 100 Singles/Albums Chart
I thought Take That were huge in Germany? It's supposed to be their '2nd home', right? I guess the German fans don't buy en masse like they do in the UK, because to be fair "Greatest Day" is pretty bland to launch a new album, they obviously need more than that.

Ban XF sales from the Xmas chart
Another idea is a rule that the show cannot be broadcasted for more than 2 years consecutively, it is time for a break from the X Factor and its chart monopoly, but that doesn't mean a total axe. It should come back in 2010.

51st Grammy Nominations - Lots of Brit Nominations !!
Bit of a shock that Leona didn't score more nods than Duffy and Adele...I guess the committee views her as a manufactured puppet despite her success and voice.

ARIA Charts - 08/12/08
Pink is huge in Australia. Looking at this weeks chart British *pop* acts aren't very popular in Australia really, are they?

Highest First Week Album Sales (1987-2008)
Wow, Robbie sold that much in 1 week of Intensive Care only 3 years ago, you wonder why he's totally off the radar now.

Early Sales
I think the fact "Be Here Now" is the fastest selling album of all time shows how name alone sells albums, it doesn't even have to be that good an album. The Take That album is big example of that too. I much prefer seeing how an album sells and its positions over its entire chart life rather than in the first few weeks thanks to aggressive marketing campaigns and the Christmas retail bonanza. I also like to see how an album sells globally rather than in the UK, if you concentrate mostly in the UK with a release it will sell a lot more than if an act is spreading themselves more thinly around the world. Coldplay is an example that counters that model, they do well in the US, UK and everywhere else.

Early Sales
So "Be Here Now" and "X&Y" have scored higher first week sales then....I doubt any album will top "Be Here Now".

Are too many new albums released in the run up to Xmas?
Subjective much?

Where will Leona Lewis - "Run" chart?
There is a bit of a hindrance on it as it's already on an album that went to #1 a week ago, the sales will be cut from what it would've been had it been out before the album. It might be #1 because it's a quiet week but I don't foresee major sales, maybe 45-50k.
-
Where will Leona Lewis - "Run" chart?
It's such a cynical move on Simon Cowell's part though...weeks ago they could see that Forgive Me wasn't doing as amazingly well on airplay and pre-orders as they thought so they rushed this out and made sure she got on the X Factor to perform it. Who releases 2 singles in the space of 2 weeks?
-
Where will Leona Lewis - "Run" chart?
I'd say #8 and album re-issue going to #7. The Snow Patrol original might also go up. I very much doubt it will be another Bleeding Love, it's just a glorified Live Lounge cover version at the end of the day, not a proper single.

iTunes Download Chart November '08
Don't think it makes much of a difference to their overall iTunes position, it seems the only decent sales figures are in the top10 and when you consider the minute popularity bar existing for songs outside the top20 it is probably equivalent to 1/4 of a dash on the bar extra.

iTunes Download Chart November '08
I don't think I can be bothered with the iTunes chart now, there are loads of big download sites as well as physical sales, the only interesting part of the iTunes chart is whoever gets to #1...other than that it only gives a feint indication for the real chart.

iTunes Download Chart November '08
I wonder what this will mean to the midweeks? X Factor must be selling a huge amount of physicals to stay at #1 then. And let's not forget that Beyonce was only about #3 on iTunes when the first midweeks came out.

iTunes Download Chart November '08
Well once you get to this evening then Leona will have to be top5 on iTunes if she wants a shot at a hit single this Sunday.
-
iTunes Download Chart November '08
The popularity bars are not as static as you think, yesterday Hero was hugely ahead of everyone else, now Beyonce is very close to matching it.

iTunes Download Chart November '08
I think Leona could be #2 on Sunday though, she is out on physicals and she's blatantly going to be at least top3 on iTunes once she has peaked.
