Markus Tolksdorf has credited you on his page for sharing charts from 1991 to 1995 (his page has been down for a few years now). I'm guessing he had the same concerns about that chart that I did and excluded it from his page but I'll except it as is. Mystery solved. Thanks for sharing.

Where did you get this chart from? Is it from you or someone who used to watch the chart during this time and made notes of it or is it from a youtube video clip where the ET idents and logos are clearly visible or some other source? You've labeled the chart "MTV's Braun European Top 20" and date stamped it with the date 921226 which happens to be the only chart missing in Markus Tolksdorf's archive. However, the chart clearly looks very different from the catalogue of ET charts archived. The missing chart dated 921226 is believed to be a Best of 1992 chart but it is just as likely that no chart was shown that week.

Are we sure that this is an actual edition of European Top 20 Best of 1992 Chart? I don't dispute the order of the entries here as they were often presented with a somewhat illogical order (chart performance wise) but all the same always contained songs that actually charted in that year. Four of the twenty songs in this list didn't actually chart. There are two types of "Best Of" charts for ET20. The first one is an edition of the chart that plays all the number 1 songs of that year in order like in 1988 and 1993. The second one is an actual Top 20 countdown filled with charting songs that have performed well that year with the idea that the longest number one should be at the top. Not only did 4 of the songs not chart during that year but none of the songs in the above list topped the chart so it certainly makes me wonder...

Let's go even further back with the oldest clip of the ET20 from 1988. Ray Cokes was probably the first regular host of the show and he appears to be presenting the chart of the year 1988 (back then a show with only the Nr 1's of a given year played in order from January to December) in which he reveals two chart-topping songs. Nr 1's of 1988 880829 Kim Wilde - You Came 880905 Kylie Minogue - The Loco-Motion 880912 Kylie Minogue - The Loco-Motion 880919 Kylie Minogue - The Loco-Motion Looking further back I recall a comment about someone who had a VHS tape of the ET20 taped during the summer of 1988 in which Michael Jackson "Another Part Of Me" was Nr 1 though this is yet to be confirmed.

Well a couple of years back I posted links to about 50 ET charts from the 90's available on YT in this thread (a handful of these are no longer available). One of those happened to be the chart of 90-09-29 which is within the 1990-gap. Using the LW-positions in this edition I could almost entirely work out the previous chart.
