2010-01-17 At number 10 we have a new entry from Nick Douwma, an English drum and bass record producer with stage alias; Sub Focus. He has been producing and releasing music since 2003 but only until now when he drops a self-titled album with the first single being "Could This Be Real" does he stumble into the Top 10 this week as a debut. The new entry at number 6 is Calvin Harris who isn´t a debut and infact has already topped this chart twice last year and now goes in with "You Used To Hold Me".

It didn´t enter the chart at all! This site has the biggest archive of the European Top 20, the real chart being from August 1991 to 2009 April 11. From April 18 of 2009 after the cancellation of the real European Top 20, the charts come from the chart shown on MTV Europe. The charts of 1989/1990 are the charts posted by Grybop in the ukmix forum which I shared on buzzjack about a year ago. By the way, I examined these charts very closely and I have several reasons to believe that the 1989/1990 editions aren´t part of the real European Top 20. Many of the songs in these editions charted in only one or two European countries. Even though the top part of the charts contain big hits of that time, it feels like it may have been a completely different chart altogether.

2010-01-10 There has been so much talk about David Guetta and his records on this chart and here comes more. At the end of last year we determined how an ideal BEST OF 2009 chart would look like and David Guetta would have two of his songs neck-to-neck in the Top 2 of the chart and now when he spends his seventh week on top with "One Love" he would now have three of his songs in the Top 3 of the end-of-year chart; "One Love" at number 3, "Sexy Chick" at number 2 and "When Love Takes Over" at number 1. All this has happened in just half a year and began when last years best song entered the chart at number 1 on June 14, 2009. If we jump one year backwards to the same chart in 2008 we find "Daddy-O" by Wideboys at the summit and at number 2 we find "Wearing My Rolex" by Wiley. This song topped the dfc for 2 weeks and now the British MC/music producer is back at number 10 with "Take That" together with Chew Fu.

The World Chart Express...used to be a chart showing the number 1 from 10 countries but somewhere along the way they changed it to a Top 10 where each position is occupied by songs from different countries where they currently hold such a position...has the compilation method changed ONCE again???

2010-01-03 Welcome to the first Dancefloor Chart of 2010. Three weeks ago Dizzee Rascal entered the dfc with "Dirtee Cash" which is a cover of the 20-year old hit "Dirty Cash" by Adventures Of Stevie V. On this same chart Chuckie entered with "Let The Bass Kick In Miami Girl" and notice how the first verse sounds a lot like the first verse in "Gossip Folks" which Missy Elliott took to number 4 in 2003. Chuckie has since then remained at number 2 for 4 weeks now. During this period there hasen´t been any new entries just like in the latest chart. Three consecutive charts actually stands for the longest time this chart has been aired without new entries!

QUESTION FOR EVERYONE Was anyone of you watching the European Top 20 10 years ago, specifically in 1999? The chart dated December 18, 1999 was obvously the last chart of that year in which 5ive´s "Keep On Movin´" rose to number 1. If memory serves me, Eden the week after that presented the BEST OF 1999 chart and at the end of the show she said that "next week Trey will present the best songs of the decade". We were promised the BEST OF 90´s chart but the following week after that the same chart (BEST OF 1999) was aired once again. The week after this they showed the first chart of 2000. Did anyone actually see this BEST OF 90´s chart or did MTV not bother compiling it at all???

2009-12-27 David Guetta seems to be getting the lion´s share of the attention on this chart especially this year after topping it for almost half of the entire year with 3 different songs. It is unusual for only 1 artist to reign the dfc for 24 weeks of a specific year. He still holds the record for the highest number of hits as his 9th hit "One Love" remains at the top for the 5th week running. In terms of chart points David Guetta´s records are not that impressive as none of his songs have collected more than 199 points; the number of points obtained by his "When Love Takes Over" together with Kelly Rowland this summer. Instead we turn to the master of point accumulation; Guru Josh and his "Infintiy 2008" which managed to attain 367 points this year and is without doubt one of the most successful club tracks of this decade. This man is also responsible for the record of the longest time spent at number 1 with this song; 18 weeks. As if that wasn´t enough this song also survived the longest time in the top 10; 34 weeks although he shares this record with the man incharge of the song "Day ´N` Nite"; Kid Cudi. Cudi is also contributing on David Guetta´s forth single of the album "One Love" called "Memories" and it will be interesting to see how well this collaboration will do in the top 10 next year. It´s also been a great year for Tiesto who currently jumps up to number 3 with "Escape Me"; a song which has already peaked at number 2 just like "Edward Carnby" did earlier this year. The follow up to the latter; "I Will Be Here" was the biggest hit of the three reaching the top spot for one week on the chart of November 1. This was the very same chart in which Deadmau5 did not appear after being present for 8 weeks and peaking at number 6 with "Ghosts N Stuff". This song re-enters the top 10 at number 4 thereby reaching a new peak but this is still the worst of the 3 songs he has placed in the chart one of which is still present at number 10; "Move For Me" which reached number 3 recently. The first hit; "I Remember" was the most successful song and climbed to the summit in May. Fedde Le Grand has had an interesting year as well. Up until this year we have noted three number-1´s for this Dutch DJ. "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit" reached the top in 2006 for 1 week just like "The Creeps" did in 2007. 2007 was the same year in which "Let Me Think About It" reached the peak of the top 10 for 2 weeks. This year he returns and gives us "Scared Of Me" which Europe danced to for 13 weeks and peaked at number 5 for 4 weeks which is the longest stay at this particular peak. 2009-12-20 Its been a while since we haven´t had any entries at all in the dancefloor chart this week, to be precise since July of this year but after the course of 4 weeks were the dfc has been rich in new entries the inevitable takes place. There isn´t much movement in the top 10 either. David Guetta´s "One Love" remains at the top spot for 4 weeks now and Chuckie/LMFAO who entered at number 2 last week stays put as well. So far all artists entering at number 2 have made it to number 1 even if it takes three weeks like it did for Guru Josh Project last year. So are Chuckie & LMFAO strong enough to knock David Guetta of the top or will they be the first to miss the number 1 having entered as first runner up?...

That was the last chart of 2009. Next week we take a break from this chart and summarise the entire year with the greatest Nordic songs in a Top 20 countdown. It has been a fantastic year filled with great tracks were some groups reminded us of the 80´s whilst others were enjoying the spells cast on them but some were worried about losing control. We´ve also had memorable club tracks like "Yo-Yo". Some women kept it simple by spreading butterflies whilst others felt the need to strip their way to the top. Men on the other hand concentrated on their lovers even if it meant being in love with a fairytale. But what ever it is only the very best will make the end-of-year special edition. Wow, I haden´t seen those charts before. With the help of this site one can now compile charts from 1976. I think it´s a great idea tsetsi so you have my vote on it... Are those charts the same as the Eurochart?

2009-12-13 This weeks dfc begins by taking us through a time machine by rewinding 19 years back to 1990 where "Dirty Cash (Money Talks)" was a popular dance hit by Adventures Of Stevie V. Dizzee Rascal cover this track and rename it to "Dirtee Cash" and enter at number 10. Their biggest hit is still "Dance Wiv Me" which Calvin Harris helped climb to number 5 last year. Storming in at number 2 is Chuckie and LMFAO with "Let The Bass Kick In Miami Girl". Entering this high in the top 10 isn´t a shocker as it happens frequently now just like two weeks ago when David Guetta entered at number 1 with "One Love" and remains there for the third week running.

2009-12-06 Can you remember the song "Beeper"? Well, it was with on the dfc last year in spring and was performed by The Count & Sinden and peaked at number 8. The rapper in the song is Melisa Young from Chicago and her stage alias is Kid Sister. Now she´s back on her own to practise her rapping skills at number 6 with "Right Hand Hi". Sidney Samson is a Dutch disc jockey slash dance musician. He teams up with Wizard Sleeve and after making the top 20 in The Netherlands and Belgium with "Riverside" they enter the top 10 at number 8.
