MTV Dancefloor Chart 2009
2008-10-18 The Italian electro producer Phonat enters the dfc at number 10 with the single "Set Me Free". He has produced music for The Young Punx whom we know for their single "Mash It Up" last winter when it peaked at number 3. At just number 3 is where we find this weeks highest new entry and its the Danish singer, songwriter and producer Ida Corr with "Ride My Tempo". We therefore note 2 Danish artists on the chart. Ida´s biggest hit was the collaboration with the Dutch house DJ Fedde Le Grand in "Let Me Think About It". In the Autumn of 2007 it reached the number 1 spot for 2 weeks but half that time was the time that elapsed for Scottish Calvin Harris´ victory with his biggest hit "I`m Not Alone" earlier this year. Although he reached the highest position with this second single taken from the album with the name the same as that of the third single which however only reached the lowest possible position; that is number 10 for "Ready For The Weekend". This week he puts the weekend preparations aside and takes a trip down memory lane with a "Flashback" trying to paint the images of a drunk evening with the help of polaroid shots. He does this at number 9....to begin with! Although Ida Corr enters the dfc in the top 3, she shouldn´t get too comfortable considering that two artists just got cut from the chart in the top 3; Pitbull and Bob Sinclar. That is the worst performing song for a song peaking at number 2 in the case of Pitbull`s "Hotel Room Service". It has only spent 2 weeks in the chart and one of those weeks at number 2. This becomes interesting when we remind ourselves that his earlier hit "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" was the song to perform the best for a song peaking at this peak when his hit spent 7 weeks there last summer.

MTV Dancefloor Chart 2009
2009-10-11 After having a discontinuous chart run of 15 weeks, Cascada leaves the chart abruptly after reaching the peak position of number 3. This is becoming common this year as David Guetta´s "When Love Takes Over" left the chart last week at number 2 after the duration of 16 weeks all of which were spent in the top 2. This is what he has in common with Lady GaGa´s "Poker Face" which dropped out from the highest possible position; number 1! Cascada´s discontinuous chart run had a break of 1 week; that is she left the chart for 1 week and returned but these breaks can be as long as 8 months and such was the case for the French producer and DJ Laurent Wolf and his "No Stress". This track left the chart at number 6 in March and now he´s back with "Walk The Line" which climbs in at 9. Paul Van Dyk´s last appearance on the dfc was a few months ago where he was breathing life into one of his own old songs for the third time in "For An Angel 2009". The song took itself to number 3 at best. However, at number 6 he´s brought fresh material where Johnny McDaid assists him in "Home". It was also a few months ago since the Romanian dance singer Inna debuted on the dfc with "Love" which peaked at number 7 and now she´s already outdone herself together with Bob Taylor as she rockets in at number 4 with "Deja Vu".

MTV Dancefloor Chart 2009
2009-10-04 The year DVD`s were discovered, the year South Africa won the Rugby World Cup or the year the Oklahoma City bombing took place...that was what 1995 could be remembered for but Pitbull has his mind set on the biggest club tracks of that year as evidenced when he sampled The Bucketheads with "The Bomb! (These Sounds Fall Into My Mind)" in "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" which leaves the countdown today and is replaced by the second single with also samples a 1995 dance hit with Nightcrawlers; "Push The Feeling On". "Hotel Room Service" storms in at an amzing number 4 and Pitbull also keeps the simple counting lectures in check just like in the first hit. When Nordic songs become extremely popular in their region then it´s time for a UK release and also in the rest of the European continent and such is the case for the response to "Kun For Mig"; a song by the Danish singer Medina who topped the Danish single chart for six weeks earlier this year. Since the song rocked the dance clubs in Denmark it was decided to write the song in English for an international release and then the song gets a new name "You and I" and now it finds its way to the dfc at number 10. Medina has another hit "Velkommen Til Medina" which has almost repeated the success of the first single.

MTV Dancefloor Chart 2009
2009-09-27 Madonna leaves the chart this week after only one week and as high as number 4. This is the first time such a chart run is performed in the top 10 and has become a bit of a trend if we remind ourselves that Shaggy´s "Fly High" also spent only one week in the chart and at number 5. This is one of Madonna´s worst chart runs. Cascada moves up one place to number 4 with "Evacuate The Dancefloor" and this is her fifth week at this peak and also the longest time there. The records for the longest stay at a peak in the top 10 has been refreshed over the last year. Guru Josh Project´s "Infinity 2008" topped the chart for 18 weeks and this is obviously a record for the peak of number 1. Pitbull who remains at number 3 has peaked at number 2 for a record-breaking 7 weeks with "I Know You Want Me". Axwell`s "What A Wonderful World" peaked at number 3 for 8 weeks last year. This weeks new entry is DJ Fresh with "Hypercaine" and goes in at number 10.

MTV Dancefloor Chart 2009
2009-09-20 David Guetta`s neck-to-neck status on the dfc continues as his singles swap places and thus he consequently replaces himself at the top of the chart which also happens for the first time ever on the dfc and will remain quite memorable. After 13 weeks on top, "When Love Takes Over" ends up reigning the top 10 for the second longest time after "Infinity 2008" by Guru Josh Project. Madonna is no stranger to the dfc and appears every now and then with evident success just like she does this week when she takes "Celebration" straight in at number 4. Benny Benassi recognized for the hit "Satisfaction" in 2003 has mixed the song.

MTV Dancefloor Chart 2009
2009-09-13 This is the first time on the dfc where an artist has two songs neck-to-neck in the top part of the chart. David Guetta moves up a spot with "Sexy Chick" to number 2 and parks behind his biggest single yet "When Love Takes Over" which has now spent an amazing 13 weeks on top of the countdown. Pitbull moves down one place to number 3 after a total of 7 weeks at number 2 which is the record for that peak (in terms of number of weeks spent at a peak). The last time the Dutch DJ and producer Armin Van Buuren charted in the top 10 he did so with his biggest hit "In And Out Of Love" at the end of last year and then he had assistance from the lead singer of the Dutch rock band Within Temptation, Sharon Den Adel in order to peak at 2. In the latest single he has replaced Sharon with another Dutch singer to help him and so far enters at number 9. Considering the responce to the song over the continent this far its doubtful whether he´ll be able to repeat last years success.
