  1. Uhuuu, My first number one ever :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Having in mind that so far I've never even entered the top five (at least I don't remember), there are many reasons to celebrate :hic:
  2. Thanks AshDeluxe for the info :P As for Stefanie Heinzmann - I really like her but just don't feel like she would manage to make another big hit. But perhaps time would prove me wrong...
  3. Yan's German chart comments (Issue date 02.05.2008) As expected no changes at the top of the German top 100 and Madonna unbothered by anyone spends a second week at the number one position. In fact there is not much going on in the top 10 and apart from this week's highest new entry, it is almost static. As for that new entry, it belongs to the guys from Scooter who quite easily add another top ten hit to their account. The long and quite successful career of HP and co. dates back from 1994 when "Hyper Hyper" reached #2. Since then there has not been a year without a Scooter hit in Germany. I doubt that there is another act that can boast such record. Despite several top 5 hits, their only number one is "Nessaja" from 2002. As long as "I'm Lonely" is concerned, it is Scooter's fourth single from the "Jumping All Over the World" album, and with only the previous single with the same name missing the top 10, it won't be an exaggeration to say that Scooter are more popular than ever. I think that we all should learn from HP's marketing strategy. And some comments on the rest of the new entries and important moves this week: #12 Lützenkirchen - "3 Tage Wach" - Tobias Lützenkirchen is a German electronic music producer and DJ, who besides being famous in the club scene has established a music project with Tomcraft and is involved in acts like Paffendorf for example. "3 Tage Wach" marks his first solo entry in the top 100 and is quite a welcome return for the German club music in the upper reaches of the chart. The high placing comes after a number one position in the German dance chart and the support of MTV and the one Bushido for the track. #16 Dr. Stay Dry Feat. Lumidee & Wyclef Jean “Don't Sweat That” - This is the debut single of U.S. hip hop singer Dr Stay Dry, who according to his site has studied philosophy and is obsessed with the green colour and overall has a party personality... :cheer: "Don't Sweat That" features the vocals of Lumidee, who is of course not a stranger to the German chart with "Never Leave You" hitting the number one in 2003. Two years ago she scored a top 5 single with "Dance", a song from the soccer worldcup soundtrack. Dr Stay Dry's song is based on the Twisted Nerve melody made last famous by the deadly Daryl Hannah in Kill Bill Vol 1. #18 Ida Corr vs. Fedde Le Grand - "Let Me Think About It"- Almost four months have been necessary for Ida Corr and Fedde Le Grant to finally enter the top 20 and to peak at #18. Whether the song will advance further is to be seen but it is not to be excluded. The 38-19 jump of Der W., the former member of Boehse Onkelz, is also worth mentioning as the single seems to have a strong potential in it. #29 - Stefanie Heinzmann - “Like A Bullet” - The second single of Stefanie may be a nice song but unfortunetely for now does not seem to have the necessary power to be a decent follower of the still top 10 "My Man Is A Mean Man" (peak #3). We should not rush and write her off as a one-hit wonder, but for now the prospects are not rosy. #40 Melee - "Built To Last" is the first-ever single of Californian pop-rock quartet in the German chart. The song is taken from their second studio album "Devils and Angels" and has already been successful in Belgium and Japan. #57 Thom. - "The One" - Thom. comes from Thomas Hanreich, a former member of German rock band Vivid, who despite an Echo award, appeared in the chart briefly with "Still" being their most successful song reaching #74 in 1997. In 2004 Thom's solo single "Principle of Joy" peaked at the low #51 and now his second appearance in the chart comes with the title song of the German movie "Sommer", who stars the one and only teen star Jimi Blue. #58 Alphabeat - "Fascination" - Though I've never thought that Alphabeat would manage to set the German charts on fire, I've just wished that "Fascination" had done better... #86 Die Fantastischen Vier - "Yeah Yeah Yeah" is the fourth single of the Vier's latest album and therefore it could hardly be considered a flop after "Fornika" had already produced hits like "Ernten was wir säen" and "Einfach sein". The biggest hit of the hip hop quartet is the German classic "Sie ist weg", which hit the top spot some 13 years ago. So that's for this week. Visit BZ over the next days for some statistics and for all who are sick of the Schuffel song - go and check out Muffel :yahoo: Have a nice and great party weekend ! :w00t:

  12. Yan's German Charts Weekly Comments Another week and another welcome and expected change at the top of the German Top 100. After only seven days at #1, Duffy steps down to #2 giving the way to the amazing Madonna to crown the chart with “4 Minutes”, her debut single from her newest album “Hard Candy”. Madonna's presence in the German charts dates back from 1984 when “Holiday” reached #9. Her other number one hits in Germany are quite surprisingly only “La isla bonita”, “American Pie” and “Hung Up”... As for Justin Timberlake, his only number one single in Germany is “SexyBack”. With the new entry of Madonna at the top, the female power continues to dominate the first ten places. The other number one singles in Germany so far in 2008 have been Leona Lewis, Schnuffel and Duffy. Rounding up the top three are the wonderful Ich+Ich, who continue to be mega hot in the country right now. The second highest new entry this week belongs to Die Aerzte. Though I'm not one of the biggest fans of the German band, I cannot ignore the fact that “Lasse redn”, the third single from their latest album, is just great! The boys' first entry in the charts was back in 1987, with “Gehn wie ein Ägypter”, with a peak at #44. They have topped the top 100 three times so far with “Männer sind Schweine”, “Unrockbar” and “Junge”. You may also bet that “Lasse redn” will unfortunately disappear quite quickly from the chart. And a quick look at the other interesting things in Germany this week: #33 Natasha Bedingfield - “Love Like This” - Not quite high but respectable placing for Natasha, who last was in the German chart with “Soulmate”, which peaked at #12 but did not leave the top 30 for months. Her biggest success in the country is the classic “These Words” reaching #2 in 2004. #38 Der W. - "Geschichtenhasser" - Der W., or Stephan Weidner as his real name is, was once member of German group Böhse Onkelz, who for the shock of all pop fans rocked the German charts with three consecutive number two hits in 2000, 2002 and 2004, before they decided to split up. Der W. is the solo project of the band's bassist. #65 DJ Bobo - "Ole Ole" - Following the failure of “Vampires Are Alive” at the Eurovision last year, DJ Bobo has to accept another blow as the debut single from his latest album flops outside the top 60. His biggest hit in Germany is “Everybody”, with a peak at #2 in 1994. More chart statistics over the next week Now it's Easter here and happy holidays to those celebrating ;)
  13. Thanks for the correction Ben ;) I just wish that the other Ben was also gay :P
  14. Oh, I was almost sure that the idols were involved
  15. And my freshest comments. Hope you enjoy them :) So finally it has happened. The reign of the rabbit is over and after two whole months on the top Schnuffel surrenders the leadership and passes the crown to the magnificent Duffy. Though "Mercy" is a wonderful song, I've personally never expected it to be a number one hit outside UK. So cheers to her, she deserves it. Duffy of course follows the footsteps of the record-breaking Leona Lewis who had been number one in Germany before the cute bunny knocked her from the top. As for the Kuschelsong, I wonder how much time Yamba will need to find the next big animal star to stir the charts once again. The good news for the German top 100 however goes also beyond Duffy as the German duo Ich + Ich enters at #3. For me Ich + Ich are definitely the best which the German music can offer at the moment, so I'm completely delighted with the success of "So soll es bleiben", which is even the third single from their latest album. The first two singles "Vom selben Stern" and "Stark" have already been massive, peaking at #3 and #2 respectively and staying in the top 20 for ages. Check them out, Ich + Ich are great! Going down to the number seven this week, we find Mariah Carey, who makes a big leap from her #22 debut last week and somewhat keeps the female balance in the top ten after the fall of A Fine Frenzy and Stefanie and the entry of Udo Lindenberg in the big ten. Both Mariah's "Touch My Body" and Udo's "Wenn du durchaengst" are becoming one of their biggest hits in Germany. Some interesting movements to be seen in the top 30 as Ida Corr and Fedde Le Grant are slowly but consistently registering a new peak week after week, REM's "Supernatural Superserious" is surprisingly still in the top 30, while Seal just doesn't want to go away. I however wonder if No Angels' Eurovision song will still be in the top 50 when the contest finally take place in the Belgrade. As for the re-entry of Take That's "Rule the World", I guess only someone living in Germany will explain the reasons behind it. And more info on some of the remaining new entries. #39 Newton Faulkner - "Dream Catch Me" - Following acts like Duffy, Amy McDonald, Leona, Amy Winehouse, Calvin Harris ..., Newton is the next British singer to register a chart success, albeit moderate, in Germany with a understandable delay. "Dream Catch Me" was a hit in his native country in the summer of 2008. #43 Ben & Kate - "2Herzen" - I have to admit it - I love this song and it's a shame it couldn't chart higher. Ben's biggest solo success are the amazing "Engel" (peak #2) and "Herz aus Glas" (peak #9). Last year he and his girlfriend, Danish singer Kate Hall, recorded several duets, with "Bedingungslos" being the most success with a peak at #16. #49 Nneka - "Heartbeat" - Nneka is unfamiliar to me hip-hop singer with Nigerian origins. "Heartbeat" is her first ever chart entry. #65 Alexander Klaws - "Welt" - It's a pity that the first single of Alexander in German flops like that but now the times when the ex-DSDS winner scored huge hits seem long gone. Alexander's biggest hits are "Take Me Tonight" and "Free Like the Wind", both hitting the top spot. Nevertheless he still remains the DSDS (German music idol) winner with most consistent chart history so far. Perhaps Mark Medlock will challenge that? #68 King Family - "Perfect Day" - I've said when their debut single flopped several months ago and I'll say it once more, the King Family deserve much better than that... #84 Maria Mena - "Nevermind Me" - "Just Hold Me" is the biggest hit of Maria so far, with a long run in the top 30 and a #14 peak position. That's all folks. See you next week with a new number perhaps ;) :yahoo:
  16. Well done to Duffy and especially congrats to Ich +Ich, who with a third single from their latest album manage to make a hit :yahoo:

  20. GERMAN CHART COMMENTS Another week goes by and Schnuffel is still spreading his cuteness on the top of the German chart, making it two whole months there. And while last week it seemed that Amy & Mark had the best chances to claim Schnuffel's carrot, this week they fall down a place to #4 clearing the way to the wonderful Duffy to attack the rabbit over the next seven days. I have the feeling that next week we will see a new number one in Germany. It's worth also mentioning the 14-8 jump of Moby and the fact that "Disco Lies" is now his second biggest hit in Germany, trailing behind "Why Does My Heart Feels So Bad" and its peak at #3. As a whole in the top 10 we have 7 songs of female artists (excuse us Mark Ronson, but Amy is the star), one DJ (with female vocals), a band and a rabbit... :yahoo:: This week's highest new entry belongs to Mariah Carey at #22, which admittedly is quite a bad place for a diva like her. She may break records in the States but in Europe this apparently is not so easy. I will spare my comments on her new song and only say that I like her ballads more that her R&B attempts. Her best performance in Germany and only number one single is “Without You” from 1994. #24 Jimi Blue - "Hey Jimi" is the third single of Jimi who has been a TV actor before storming the music scene. The first singles from his solo album “Mission Blue” peaked at #5 (“I’m Lovin”) and at #13 (“All Alone”). Time will tell how long Jimi would keep the love of the German teenage girls… #27 REM - "Supernatural Superserious”, - To prove me wrong, REM are trying their best to have a hit in the new millennium. "Supernatural Superserious” jumps from #48 in its eight week in the Top 100. Its sales are most probably boosted by the sales of the band’s new album, which debuts at #2 in the album chart. #30 Calvin Harris - “Acceptable In The 80s” was a smash in the UK in March 2007. Nevertheless the song deserves to be a hit everywhere and the man deserves consolation after the lost laptop in the Heathrow baggage crisis. Fingers crossed the song will advance higher. #40 Christina Stuermer -“Traeume Leben Ewig”. Apart from DJ Oetzi, Christina is one of the best selling Austrian singers in the post-Falco era. Her debut single “Ich lebe” is her biggest, albeit not best, single so far, peaking at #3 in 2003. I personally prefer “Engel fliegen einsam” and “Mama (Ana Ahabak)”. “Traeume Leben Ewig” is taken from her Unplugged album “Laut-los” #54 Potbelleez – “Don’t Hold Back” – Potbelleez is a four-member electro group from Sydney. “Don’t Hold Back” is their breakthrough hit. Check it out, the song is really good. #55 The Kooks – "Always Where I Need To Be" - The Kooks are currently extremely hot in the UK but expectedly Germans are not so much impressed. Nevertheless the 55th place is still something. Their other only song in the German chart is “She Moves In Her Own Way” reaching #66 in 2007. #57 Kettcar – "Graceland" - Kettcar is an indie pop German band from Hamburg and this is the first song of their third album called “Sylt”. They were in the German chart only twice before with “48 Stunden” and “Deiche”, peaking at #45 and #69, respectively, in 2005. #62 Andreas Martin – “Ich fang dir den Mond” – Andreas is a famous German lutenist, who actually is not unfamiliar to the chart, with his biggest hit being “Amore mio” peaking at #25 in 1982. #65 Rooney – “Are You Afraid” – Rooney surprised the chart with the success of “When Did Your Heart Go Missing“, its long run and its peak at #17. However, no surprises here as their second single expectedly flops. #78 Gnarls Barkley – “Run” – Unfortunately Gnarls Barkley will struggle hard to repeat even partially the success of “Crazy”, which reached #3 in 2006. “Run” is the first single from their second album and as it seems, the duo will continue to wear the “one-hit wonder” status. So that’s for now. Check out the thread over the next week for more statistics and see ya :cheer: :yahoo: :cheer:
