German Top 100 Singles/Albums Chart
Here are my newest comments ... Hope you like them This week marks a full month after Schnuffel entered at the top spot of the German chart and the slow top ten is a sign that he may stay there for quite awhile. The only change in the top five is the 5/4 swap of Fettes Brot and Timbaland, who simply refuses to go away. The week's highest new entry comes from Rihanna with "Shut Up and Drive", which is the fourth single from her "Good Girl Gone Bad" album to chart in Germany, after "Umbrella" and "Please don't Stop the Music" already hit the number one spot in 2007. As a fourth single, the top 10 new entry is quite successful, so well done to her. The second highest new entry belongs to No Angels (#12), with our own Lucy being one of the girls;), and their "Disappear", which will present Germany at this year's Eurovision contest in Serbia. No Angels are one of my favourite pop groups and I'll cross my fingers for their success at the contest. I also have the feeling that as Lucy is currently in the jury of the Bulgarian Music Idol, Bulgaria will support the girls in Belgrade. Among No Angels' most succesful songs rank "Daylight in Your Eyes", "Rivers Of Joy", "There Must Be An Angel". And not to forget to mention that A Fine Frenzy (now at #11) is slowly but surely heading towards the top 10... 18 Bata Illic Und Eike Immel - Both Bata and Eike are participants in the latest season of the German version of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!. As it is a tradition in Germany the two guys decided to record a song. For those who don't know, Bata Illic is somewhat legendary Serbian musician, while Eike is former German soccer player. #19 Flo Rida - "Low" After being number one in the States for several weeks, the time for storming the charts in Europe has finally come... Bravo! #20 Marquess - "La Histeria" - The song was among the contestants to present Germany at Eurovision. I'm glad that No Angels won that. As far as Marquess are concerned, the biggest hit of the Hanover-established but singing in Spanish group is "Vayamos Companeros", which peaked at #2 last year, and even re-enters the chart this week at #78. #44 Cinema Bizarre - "Forever or Never" - As like Marquess, Cinema Bizarre failed to beat No Angels for Eurovision. The biggest hit of the boys, who try their best to copy HIM, is "Love Songs (They Kill Me)", with a peak at #9. Overall "Forever or Never" is their third single so far. #61 Fler - "Warum bist du so" - Following the recently released top 20 single "Deutscha Bad Boy", the Berlin rapper enters the chart at the low #61. This is the second single from his "Fremd im eigenen Land" album. #63 Lisa Bund - "All that I am" - This is the second single of the bronze finalist at the fourth season of DSDS (the German Music Idol). Her first song "Learn To Love You" was a top 20 hit. I think she would have to try harder to have a second album... #68 Adele - Some of you have predicted that as it was only a download last week, the physical sales this week would boost Adele's performance in the chart. Happily they didn't. It is a flop. #71 Fortenbacher - "Hinterm Ozean" - Carolin Fortenbacher is a German singer most famous for playing in the Mamma Mia musical staged in Hamburg. #87 Plain White T's - "Our Time Now" - It's a shame that the #1 hit "Hey There Deliah" should be followed with a flop. But that's the music business after all. That's how one-hit wonders happen...

10,000 BC
Guys, I've watched a preview of the movie and it is really awful even for the standards of the director... Here are the things I didn't like: Potential minor spoilers ahead... The good guys in the B.C. world speeak English, and the bad some strange languages Good idea! The tiger so shamelessy advertised as a fierce beast does not eat anyone, maybe it is because of the rating?!?! As a whole there was almost no violence in the movie, or at least no blood, but how could you explain someone falling from a building and looking only asleep afterwards?!?... and so on, so on. I don't wanna reveal any plot details. At least there are some good effects but still I prefer Apocalypto, much superior...

German Top 100 Singles/Albums Chart
And my new comments ;) So another week has gone. St. Valentine's is far away but the Cutie, aka Schnuffel, is still sitting comfortably on the top of the German charts. I think three weeks are quite enough and hope that someone kicks off the Jamba creature from the top the next week. As for the rest of the top 10, the climb of Kylie in her second week is quite promising. Well deserved. In addition it's good to see DJ Oetzi out of the big ten. However, as he has several times shown, that doesn't mean he won't be back soon... The 22-15 jump of Fine Frenzy is also worth noting. I'm sure many of you will be happy...As for Basshunter it looks that the English version of Boten Ana will be more successful. That will surely make some of you happy too ;))). The honour for the big new entry goes to Yael Naim and her "New Soul" from the famous advertisement. I'm quite surprised of that but at the same time quite glad she managed to score a hit in Germany. The song is ace after all. The biggest shock this week comes at #23 where Amy Winehouse has jumped from #41 with "Rehab". I will not tell you anything about her as I'm sure that here there are experts far more familiar with her troubles. As for the German chart and her performance in it, this week marks "Rehab's" peak position some 16 months after the initial release of the song. So far she has not had a hit in the country but the time has finally come. I like when such odd things happen in the charts. #24 Sunrise Avenue - Happy to see the guys back in the top 30 as after "Fairytale Gone Bad" they have struggled to make a deep impact on the GE top 100 and have been going on the "one-hit wonder" path. So well done boys. #39 Lupe Fiasco - I didn't expect that Lupe would be able to make a huge hit in Germany like in the UK. However the #39 is not bad at all, having in mind who enters the chart at the much lower #69. #69 Adele - Yeah, she flopped. I am one of the few who thinks that Adele is overrated and quite boring, but will not dwell on the fact she didn't even manage to enter top 60 in Germany :D. Actually I sincerely hope that Duffy will perform much better. Fingers crossed. To sum it up - Quite interesting singles chart this week. Though I cannot express my joy from seeing Schiller at the top of the albums. Bravo! Till the next week...

German Top 100 Singles/Albums Chart
The German chart has always been like that and in the last few years it has become even faster than before :) As for A Fine Frenzy, the 22nd place in a slow chart like the German one, is somewhat considered a success ;)

German Top 100 Singles/Albums Chart
So, another week and Schnuffel, contrary to my expectations, is still eating his carrot at the top of the chart. Just behind him for a second week sits comfortably Leona Lewis and her smash Bleeding Love. The honour for the big new entry goes to Fettes Brot, the German hip hop trio with a long successful chart history and most famous hits "Nordisch by nature", "Schwule Maedchen", "Emanuela" and my favourite "An Tagen wie diesen". Their new single continues the hit lineup of the boys but not without the help of German electronic music duo Modeselektor, who so far have been strangers to the chart. Last week it seemed that the top 10 finally got rid of DJ Oetzi and his neverending Ein Stern. However, this song is unstoppable and once again returns among the top sellers and in addition his new single also climbs and peaks at #7. It seems that the Austrian will rule the chart in 2008 as well. Gemma Bier trinken! Glad to see the new song of Kylie in the top 10. The first single of her X album peaked at #13, but In My Arms is for me definitely the better and more typical Kylie. So cheers to her. #15 Clueso - "Keinen Zentimeter" is the biggest success of the German rapper, whose previous best performance was with "Chicago" peaking at the low #60. A nice song and quite deservingly top 20. #16 Das Bo - A place below Clueso enters another German rapper with far better chart career. Apart from his success with Fuenf Sterne Deluxe, as a solo artist Das Bo had a massive hit with "tuerlich, tuerlich (sicher, Dicker) in 2000. Nice video, check it out on YouTube ;) #26 Basshunter - Last week I was happy that Basshunter didn't manage to score a huge hit with the English version of Boten Ana, but the jump from #39 to #26 in the second week speaks for itself. #28 Panik - Panik are not at all unfamiliar to the top 100, as this is the new name of the German band Nevada Tan. After a disagreement with their management, the boys have decided to rename the group into Panik. As Nevada Tan, their biggest hit was Revolution, which peaked at #15 in March 2007. Though not quite as popular as Tokio Hotel, the guys have managed to cross the German speaking countries and some crazy teenagers know them in Bulgaria as well... #35 Nightwish - "Bye Bye Beautiful" is the followup of the marvellous Amaranth, which even re-enters the chart this week. Nice work lads and gal :) #38 Rapsoul - "Koenig der Welt?" is the third single from the Achterbahn album of the German trio. The 1st single Erste Liebe is so far their most successful song, peaking at #14. #42 Down Below - "Sand in Meiner Hand", Down Below is a German rock band, new to me and new to the chart. #46 Wir3 - "Omi Ist der Hit", That is so far the best performance for the girlie band, which was formed by TV channel Super RTL for singing mainly children songs. As for the other new entries below the top 50 we find some flops from Laith Al-Deen, Smashing Pumpkins and Sportfreunde Stiller. If you wanna know more about them, just leave a note below. So until the next week.

German Top 100 Singles/Albums Chart
Yes, the carnivals seem to be finally over and all of the Volksmusik dictating the German Top 100 is dropping like leaves in the autumn. However there is always something to spread its shadow over the German chart and this time it is the sweet Schnuffel. Following the footsteps of "stars" like Crazy, where have I gone, Frog and Sweety, this animal, a rabbit I suppose, has gained into popularity as a ringtone in a blink. Of course its sales were boosted by the St Valentine's Day and that was enough to dethrone miss Lewis from the top after only four weeks there. Having in mind that Feb 14 is long gone, I think that Schnuffel will lose the peak position quite soon. What do you think, does this thing deserves to be #1 and what are its chances for success in UK? So let's look at the rest of the chart. #11 Dj Oetzi - The second highest new entry comes from the man himself. The titan of 2007, DJ Oetzi. He was not in hurry to release a follow-up of his immensely successful Ein Stern, which is still in top 20 for over a year now. Finger crossed that I Will Leb`n will disappear much quickly, like a falling star... #15 Snoop Dogg - One of the hip hop legends returns to the charts sitting comfortly at # 15. He has been absent from the German shores for quite awhile. I think last he made the top 5 with Pharrel and Justin and their Signs. #22 Culcha Candela - The self-titled Culcha Candela album of the German hip-hop/reggae band has already produced a #1 hit with Hamma and a top 10 one with Ey DJ. So it is a surprise that the third single didn't flop and its 22nd place is actually quite respectful. #29 Soulja Boy - After being a massive hit in US and the rest of Europe, Soulja Boy and his crazy dance finally score in Germany. Not so well as in the other countries, though... #32 Sugababes - As in the UK, the second single from the girls' Change album, did not manage to set the chart on fire. A nice song but especially for Germany it lacks a chart potential. #39 Basshunter - It would have been a great shame if the English version of Boten Ana becomes a hit in Germany since the original was a huge success not quite long ago. I know that desire to cash in is enormous, but have Tokio Hotel released their English songs in Germany? No they haven't... #46 Kevin Michael - Despite not being a fan of such music, I actually like the song of Kevin. The 46th place is however not a surprise #62 REM - Does anyone really expect REM to make a huge hit nowadays? The Valentine's Day not only triggered the sales of Schnufel but made many love-themed songs to re-enter the chart. So that's it for this week. If you have some comments on my comments pls share them. Any feedback is welcome ... :cheer:

German Top 100 Singles/Albums Chart
So here are my comments for this week :) No surprises in the top three. Another week and Leona is once again queen of the German Top 100, for a fourth consecutive time. As I've predicted the horse, the cowboy and the doner are all in the top 10. Fingers crossed this is the last week in which they are climbing, but I fear that we'll see more of that s**t in the months to come... So the honour of the big new entry this week goes to the one and only Britney. As a lot of music journalists have stated, no publicity is a bad publicity for Spears and despite all that is going on around her, she still manages to score hits. The first single of her latest album peaked at #7. #15 Scooter - The third single of the latest "jumping" album of the German band has once again proven the consistency with which HP and co. make hits. They perhaps are the one and only group from the 90s, which has not stopped making music with a huge success in Germany. Scooter have a lot of haters, but I'm not one of them. So well done boys. Jump, jump, jump... #30 Gregor Meyle - Gregor is the runner-up of the SSDSDSSWEMUGABRTLAD casting show of Stefan Raab, which some of you may remember has been won by Stefanie #3 Heinzmann. #55 Hermes House Band - As "Country Roads" and "I Will Survive" covered by Hermes House Band are one of my favourite "beer" songs, it's a pity that their original vocalist has left the band. Now they are quite poor as chart performance. Shame! #68 Morrissey - Despite the low new entry, the fact that he even charts in Germany is astonishing. #96 Subway To Sally - That is the first single from the ninth studio album of the German folk metal band called bast*rd. So far they have not managed to have a massive hit. To summerize - Not many new entries. Britney fans to celebrate once more & the Volksmusik is gaining more and more popularity. So as Scooter put it - Jump until the next week!

German Top 100 Singles/Albums Chart
Yeah, I guess that the fact that some songs keep climbing for weeks and stand at a certain position for months has confused me (After all it's not a pattern for a chart involving only sales). But as Wikipedia says Top100 Singles or VIVA Top 100 are the German single charts. It charts only consists of actual CD and download sales. Between 1989 and 2001, airplay was also involved but only for the ranks between 51 and 100. Since September 2004 downloads have also been added to the calculation. Songs that do not climb higher than position 50 within nine weeks are removed from the charts. The system was once again changed in July 2007: Singles no longer need a physical release; they are now allowed to enter the charts based on legal downloads only. The charts are provided by Media-Control.
