  1. We have a busy pre-holiday week this time as 15 new entries make their way into the top 100. They are led by Flo Rida's amazingly popular single "Good Feeling". The song, which is actually based on Avicii's "Levels" (which this week falls to #7), is the pilot single of Flo Rida's latest album and easily becomes the US star first ever German number one. Didn't I tell you last time that Germans are into dance music currently? Video What is more interesting is even that last week's number one, Rihanna's "We Found The Love", falls to #3, while Aura Dione's unstoppable "Geronimo" still holds on to the runner-up slot. Video - Rihanna Audio - Aura Dione At the same time the competition is intensified by Lana Del Rey and her "Video Games", which deservingly goes up six positions and sits pretty just outside the top three. Video The second highest new entry belongs to Rammstein, easily the most famous band to sing in German worldwide. With an already sold out tour, the guys will release their first ever Greatest Hits album, with "Mein Land", which debuts at #5, the only new track. Despite that all expectations are for the track to fall massively next week, it becomes the group's ninth top ten single. Video Further down the countdown, Foster The People's "Pumped Up Kicks" has made it into the top 20 in its third week. The global hit soars from #32 to #20. Video Two positions behind, Pietro Lombardi releases a new material after his number one "Call My Name" and his duet with Sarah Engels "Miss You" (peak #2). "Goin' To LA", which does not feature in Lombardi's debut album, however struggles to make it to the top 20 and with that rate we can expect everyone to forget about the latest winner of DSDS in a year time. Video At #39 Finnish band Nightwish return to the chart in the 12th year after their "Sleeping Sun" peaked at #34. "Storytime" is the first single taken from the group's "Imaginaerum" LP and becomes their seventh top 50 single in Germany. Video A place below the Finnish rockers, newcomer Ardian Bujupi brings his debut song "This Is My Time" to the top 100. Of course, the interest is triggered by Bujupi's participation in DSDS, where it ranked third behind Lombardi and Engels. Video Next up is local band The Bosshoss, whose "Don't Gimme That" fails by a notch to beat their best peaking song "Hey Ya!". The new single enters at #42. Video At #44 Lady Gaga's "Marry The Night" makes a "premature" new entry. Still, the song prospects to climb are not to be underestimated as it will gain airplay in the weeks to come. Live The next new entry is the perfect example for the forthcoming holidays as schlager singer Christian Franke teams up with panpipes player Edward Simoni to come back to the singles chart with "Apfelbaum" at #45. Franke has had a top ten single in 1981 with "Ich wünsch' dir die Hölle auf Erden (wenn du heut' gehst)". Video The song at #48 shows that someone has not forgotten the success of "We No Speak Americano" from last year and tries to copy the formula but in German. "Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen", was made first popular in 1938 by the Andrew Sisters, though it dates way back to 1932. The new version belongs to Ilhama and DJ OGB and I personally expected to be a little more successful than this... Video And the remaining new entries with videos and some info: #54 Justin Bieber - Mistletoe - Poor Justin, even a Christmas song could not make him popular enough in Germany. The teen girls may scream their lungs out but he still has no top 10 single. Video #58 Remady Feat. Manu-L - Give Me A Sign - The Swiss DJs are just unstoppable right now. Just look at the next new entry at #70! Video #70 DJ Bobo - Everybody's Gonna Dance - We have to give it to the man. Hate him or love him, the Swiss star has had 33 top 100 singles in his 19-year long career. Video #80 Professor Green Feat. Emeli Sande - Read All About It - I didn't expect this UK #1 to make it to Germany so quickly. It's not that someone has paid any attention... Video #82 Tom Lüneburger & Stefanie Kloß - We Are One - Yes, I personally don't know who that guy is, but Stefanie has had more fame as part of Silbermond. We need a new album soon! Video #92 Evanescence - My Heart Is Broken - Oh, somehow this time, Nightwish have done it better. The second single from Evanescence's last album makes it even worse than the #84 peak of "What You Want". Audio The Album Chart Kool Savas' arrival in the album charts puts an end to the reign of Udo Lindenberg. Thus "Aura" becomes the rapper's first ever number one LP in the country. Snow Patrol has made a new career-best as their newest "Fallen Empires" comes fresh at #3. Also new to the top ten are the German Il Divo, or known as Adoro and their "Liebe meines Lebens" at #4. 2. RiRi sets a new age on top, while Helene Fischer puts the Album chart under schlager spell. It has taken two months to remove Marlon Roudette's "New Age" from the summit of the German singles chart, with this honour going to Rihanna's smash "We Found Love". Thus the song becomes RiRi's third number one single in Germany, next to "Umbrella" and "Don't Stop The Music". It is also Rihanna's 17th top ten single in the country in just six years, which officially makes her one of the most successful female singers in Germany ever. Let's not also forget the help of Calvin Harris, who has had only two top 100 singles in Germany so far, with "Acceptable in the 80s" reaching #30. Video - Marlon Video - Rihanna Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" will once again has to content itself with the runner-up slot and by looks of it the song will never manage to climb to the number one. Video The top three is rounded by Marlon Roudette, while David Guetta's "Without You" makes a new peak by entering the top ten at #7. Thus, the French superstar has two hits in the top ten, together with "Titanium" at #5. Video At the same time Adele's "Someone Like You" advances further and this week occupies the #8 position. It's also a new peak for Coldplay's "Paradise" at #13, while the latest song of Timbaland arrives new at #27. By failing to enter the top 20, "Pass At Me", despite produced by David Guetta, may have put an end to the extremely successful career of Timbo over the last few years. Perhaps, he should call Nelly Furtado next... Video - Adele Video - Coldplay Video - Timbaland I'm quite surprised and happy with the success of the song which enters at #28. "Video Games" is the debut single of US singer Lana Del Ray and is a perfect example of how great pop music could be. It's fantastic that the charts all over the world are paying attention too... Video With the jump of massive 48 positions to #30, Austrian schlager star Andreas Gabalier finally brings his "I sing a Liad für di" to the top 30. DJ Oetzi's take on the single is also on the rise, this week at #37, but it's a good sign that the initial version has finally outsold the Oetzi one. The two singers also have new albums in the LP chart, where Andreas Gabalier has also managed to beat his fellow Austrian colleague. Video - Andreas Also climbing towards the upper reaches of the Top 100 are Katzenjammer, whose "I Will Dance" breaks the top 40 and is now at #32. Video-Live A history in the making at #35, where Paul & Fritz Kalkbrenner's club anthem "Sky And Sand", taken from the OST of 2008 movie Berlin Calling makes a new peak in its...81st week on the countdown! The song benefits from its current use in a commercial and will go higher in the weeks to come. Still, why the appeal of the single was so strong at first place is beyond anyone's guess. Video And the remaining new entries with videos and some info: #48 Y-Titty - Ständertime - A first entry for the German comedy trio that has gained in popularity via its sketches on YouTube. Video #55 Mark Medlock - The Other Side Of Broken - Flop of the Week #1 - this is the worst performing single of maybe the most successful winner of Deutschland sucht den Superstar, who has had seven top five singles and only one song missing the top 20 so far. Does this mean that the magic (blame the change of style) has disappeared? Video #67 Scooter - David Doesn't Eat - Flop of the Week #2 - After Scooter's previous single "The Only One" turned into their lowest charting ever by reaching #45, the band now breaks this "record" again with its latest song. "David Doesn't Eat" samples "A Walk in the Park" by The Nick Straker Band and by the looks of it will be the first single of Scooter to miss the top 50 in their almost 20-year long chart career. A break-up soon? Video #86 Skylar Grey - Invisible - After successful guest appearances on hit singles such as "Coming Home" and "I Need A Doctor", the first proper solo single of the US singer apparently stumbles to have a big impact. Video The Album Chart Slowly but steadily become a schlager superforce, Helene Fischer manages to bring her fifth album atop the LP charts this week. The Bushido / Sido joint project 23 enters new at #3, while rapper Kollegah has his fourth album arriving at #5. Also new to the top ten is the latest offering of Dick Brave & The Backbeats (or the Sasha cover band) at #7, as well as Chris de Burgh's "Footsteps 2" at #10. Video links active (depending on the country) here: http://yantk.blogspot.com/2011/10/german-c...-date-2810.html
  3. Marlon Roudette's "New Age" seems to be unmovable from the summit of the German singles chart as it stands there for a seventh consecutive week, followed yet again by Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger". The top three is rounded up by Sean Paul's "Got 2 Luv U", which advances three positions from #6. The song thus manages to match the #3 peak of Paul's first major hit "Get Busy" from 2003. Video- Marlon Video - Maroon 5 Video - Sean Paul This week's countdowns is fully marked by the Bundesvision song contest from two weeks ago and therefore winner Tim Bendzko succeeds in having the highest new entry with "Wenn Worte meine Sprache wären" at #5. This is the second single of the German newcomer to go in the charts after "Nur noch kurz die Welt retten", which slowly but steadily turned into one of the biggest hits of the year in the country and this week stands pretty at #10. Video Also thanks to the Bundesvision, Glasperlenspiel's "Echt" soars nine positions and enters the top 10 at #9 for the first time since its release. At #32 Frida Gold bring their NRW entry for the competition "Unsere Liebe ist aus Gold". At the same time, Bosse's proposal "Frankfurt Oder" skyrockets to #35 from #63, turning easily into the most successful single of the German singer. Video - Glasperlenspiel Video - Frida Gold Video - Bosse The Bundesvision news continues at #44, where runner-up Flo Mega arrives with "Zurück", his first ever single to scrap the top 100, while also new to the charts are Kraftklub and their "Ich will nicht nach Berlin", which comes in at #45. Video - Flo Mega Video - Kraftklub At #47 Andreas Bourani's Bundesvion entry "Eisberg" rises from #58, while Thees Uhlmann's "Laichen und Sterben ziehen die Lachse den Fluss hinauf" advances to #52 from #79. Video - Andreas Bourani Video - Thees Uhlmann Let's return to the top 20 now as the second biggest new entry belongs to Seeed and their double single "Molotov / Wonderful Life" at #12. It's the third top 20 single of Peter Fox and co., coming after the #5 peak of "Ding" in 2006. Video Also new to the countdown is Adele at #16. After the mega success of "Rolling in The Deep" and "Set Fire To the Rain", "Someone Like You" is the third single taken from Adele's "21" multiplatinum LP to enter the charts. Unlike UK and USA, though, for the time being it seems that the single won't be able to conquer the top, which is understandable having in mind that everyone owns the album now. Video This week also sees Lady Gaga having her second ever single to miss the top 10 as "You and I" arrives at #21. The single fares better only compared to the #23 peak of underrated "Judas" from earlier this year. Video The #23 position witnesses the first collaboration of German rappers Bushido and Sido, who, once enemies, have now decided to bury the hatchet and form a joint project under the name of 23 (and it arrives at #23, is this just coincidence?). I just wonder if "So mach ich es" is getting any VIVA/MTV rotation now... Video Schlager veteran Jürgen Drews, who had his only #1 hit back in 1976, returns to the chart this week at #25 with "Wenn die Wunderkerzen brennen". During his resurrected chart career, Jürgen Drews had a major hit in the face of "Ich bau dir ein Schloss", which entered the top 10 in 2009. Video The Twilight mania is gearing up as we speak and is already having its impact on the charts. This time around, the lead single from the OST of Breaking Down I, the latest part of the vampire love saga, is sung by Bruno Mars. Thus, even without a video, "It Will Rain" comes in at #30. It is the first Bruno Mars-led single to miss the top ten though and I wonder why "Marry You" did not get a release in Germany prior to it. Audio And the remaining new entries with videos and some info: 59. Jupiter Jones - Immerfürimmer - The follow-up of enormously popular "Still" didn't quite set the charts on fire, despite also being part of the Bundesvision contest. Video 60. Jennifer Rostock - Ich kann nicht mehr - Also taken from the Bundesvision line-up, it's the second single of the band to miss the top 50. Video 93. Rasmus Seebach - Calling (Nighthawk) - It's the first single of the Danish singer to enter the charts. With no big effect though... Video The Album Chart For yet another week, the German LP chart sees a new album on top of it. This time it belongs to Andrea Berg. "Abenteuer" is the sixth!!! album of the schlager star to top the chart in just eight years. Udo Lindenberg's "MTV Unplugged" keeps steady at #2, while last week's champion "Wir sind am Leben" by Rosenstolz retreats to #3. Reamonn's singer Rea Garvey brings his solo album "Can't Stand The Silence" straight in at #4, while Canadian singer Feist has her "Metals" LP new at #6. Also new to the top 10 are Austrian volksmusic treasure Kastelruther Spatzen, whose nth album "Hand auf's Herz" goes in at #8. Video links active here: yantk.blogspot.com/2011/10/german-chart-comments-issue-date-1410.html
  4. The same old age on top of the German singles hitparade with Marlon Roudette's "New Age" standing there for a sixth week in a row. Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" continues to occupy the second place, while Rio's club hit "Turn This Club Around" is once again at #3. Video - Marlon Video - Maroon 5 Video - Rio Inside the top ten, new peaks of David Guetta's "Titanium" and Sean Paul's "Got 2 Luv U" at #5 and #6, respectively, while following the exposure related to Bundesvision (aka the German Eurovision in which all states participate), several entries in the competition enjoy an increased interest by music buyers. Thus, Glasperlenspiel's (excellent) "Echt" returns in the top 20 and this week stands at #18, while Bosse's "Frankfurt Oder", which won the sympathies of many during the contest, re-enters at #63. Furthermore, despite that they won close-to-zero points on Thursday, Andreas Bourani's Eisberg enters the countdown at #58, while Juli's "Du Lügst So Schön" is new at #67. Juli have had much better days in the chart, while this is Andreas' second single after his debut "Nur in meinem Kopf" was met with incredible success earlier this year and is still in the top 50. As the current chart covers the period before the actual competition took place in Cologne, expect the next issues to be fully affected by Bundesvision. Winner Tim Bendzko is also expected to set the top 20 on fire. Audio - David Guetta Video - Sean Paul Video - Glasperlenspiel Video - Bosse Video - Andreas Bourani Live - Juli Speaking of Tim Bendzko, I've already written in the blog for the increasing interest in German music sung by male singers, with the latest proof coming in at #21. The highest new entry of the week belongs to Philipp Poisel, who after two failed attempts manages to have his first ever top 30 single in Germany. "Eiserner Steg" also benefits from the inclusion in the soundtrack of (you guessed it) "What A Man". Video At #30 we have Pixie Lott returning to the chart with her debut single "Mama Do". I guess the re-entry, which marks a peak position for the single, is related to a performance on the telly... Video Five positions behind Pixie, Austrian superstar DJ Ötzi has done it again - has taken a well-known hit by a fellow home artist, recovered it and has made it a bigger hit. It's, thankfully, not as big as "Ein Stern" was, but is still good enough for the DJ (I know this is an overstatement) to have yet another top 50 single. The song in question is "I sing a Liad für dich", first performed by newcomer Andreas Gabalier, whose version has clocked up more than a year in the Austrian charts, but in Germany this week reaches its peak at #60. It's not that I'm a fan of the genre, but the original is much much better. Video - DJ Oetzi Video - Andreas Gabalier And the remaining new entries with videos and some info: #55 - Abigail & DJ Rebel feat. The Gibson Brothers - Cuba (up from #86) Video #73 - Cascada - Au revoir - It comes after the #13 peak of "San Francisco", but I suppose Germans have had enough of Cascada's unoriginality for the time being. Video #80 - Bruce Berger - Die ganz ganz ganz grosse Liebe - Following the trend of releasing singles from successful German films, this single comes hot from the soundtrack of "Männerherzen und die ganz ganz große Liebe" Video #98 - Christopher S. feat. Max Urban - Star - It's a first entry for the Swiss DJ, who obviously wants to follow the footsteps of his homie DJ Antoine. Video The Album Chart Not breaking the trend set from the last weeks, the storm of new albums in the LP chart continues. This week it's time for Rosenstolz to claim the summit with "Wir sind am Leben" - the duo's fifth number one album. In the top ten we can find new entries also by Subway To Sally's "Schwarz in Schwarz" at #4, Machine Head's "Unto The Locust" at #5, Blink 182's "Neighborhoods" at #6 and "Discovery" - a special box set of Pink Floyd's albums at #9. Speaking of Pink Floyd, their released legendary album "The Dark Side Of The Moon" arrives at #3, while Nirvana's "Nevermind" also returns to the charts at #8. Video links active here: http://yantk.blogspot.com/2011/10/german-c...issue-date.html
  5. German Chart Comments There is no one able to stop Marlon Roudette from being number one and his "New Age" clocks up a fifth week on top of the German charts, while Maroon 5's UK destiny to be the constant number two seems to be repeating in Germany too. Video - Marlon Roudette Video - Maroon 5 This leaves us to the highest and maybe the most surprising new entry at #3. It belongs to local dance project R.I.O., who after several top 100 singles, the biggest of which "Shine On" (peak at #25), brings its first top ten single ever. The success of "Turn This Club Around" can be sought in the huge popularity of dance singles this summer - just look how "Welcome To St. Tropez", "One Night In Ibiza" and all David Guetta stuff has performed so far. Video Speaking of David Guetta, his "Titanium" marks a new peak at #6, though by the looks of it, it won't be the next proper single of the French DJ. Audio New peaks also by Sean Paul's "Got 2 Luv U" at #7, Udo Lindenberg's "Ein Herz kann man nicht reparieren" at #11 and Natalia Kills' "Free" at #16. Video - Sean Paul Video - Udo Video - Natalia Kills Two new entries join the top 20 club this week. First, "Paradise", Coldplay's follow-up to "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" (peak #24), becomes deservingly their fourth top 20 single in the country by arriving at #17. A position behind the UK band, UK singer James Morrison makes a good return to the German Top 100 with his newest single "I Won't Let You Go". The song comes three years after the number-one smash duet with Nelly Furtado "Broken Strings". Live - Coldplay Video - James As the saying goes, it's better late than ever as 85-year old music veteran Tony Bennett has his first ever single in Germany. Never being a real commercial artist, it's not so strange that the singer has never appeared in the countdown prior to his collaboration with late Amy Winehouse. Of course, it's all thanks to Amy, with "Body And Soul" (new at #31) turning into her seventh song to enter the German chart. Video And the remaining new entries with videos and some info: 73 Johannes Strate - Es Tut Mir Weh Dich So Zu Sehen - This entry outside the top 50 is not a flying start for the solo career of the Revolverheld singer. Video 86 Robert Abigail & DJ Rebel feat. The Gibson Brothers - Cuba - It's a new version of the Gibson Brothers single of the same name, which peaked at #22 in 1979. Video 91 DJ Antoine feat. Tom Dice - Sunlight - As "Ma Cherie" entered the charts exactly two weeks ago, do we have a David Guetta pattern here? They at least have a video... Video 94 Samy Deluxe feat. Max Herre - Zurück Zu Wir - A second single from Samy's "Poesie Album", with the previous one peaking at #62. Video The Album Chart Something extremely extraordinary has happened to the LP chart in Germany this week as as many as 29 new entries have flooded it. Blame the weak sales or something else, but I don't think that the chart has ever seen such invasion before. Anyway, the parade is led by Udo Lindenberg's "MTV Unplugged" at #1, while SuperHeavy's "SuperHeavy" is at #2, Fler's "Im Bus ganz hinten" at #3, Luxuslärm's "Carousel" at #6, VNV Nation's "Automatic" at #8 and Opeth's "Heritage" at #9. Video links active here - http://yantk.blogspot.com/2011/10/german-c...-date-3009.html
  6. It's a fourth week for Marlon Roudette and his "New Age" at the summit of the German singles chart, while Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" stands steady at #2. Video - Marlon Video - Maroon 5 The top three is rounded up by the highest new entry of the week, belonging to German duo Rosenstolz. Anna and Peter's previous album spawned their only number one - "Gib mir Sonne", as well as two other top ten singles. By debuting at #3 the magnificent "Wir sind am Leben" becomes their third top three single and their 11th top ten song. A well-deserved success for one of the best German acts out there. Video The second new entry can be found just outside the top 10, coming from UK singer/rapper Example. After storming the UK charts for the last year and a half, Example's first UK #1 "Changed The Way You Kiss Me" makes more than spectacular entry at #11 in Germany. Video Example, or Elliot John Gleave as known to his friends, is followed in the countdown by what is German legend Udo Lindenberg. The singer, whose career enters a fifth decade, has just recorded an Unplugged session for MTV and the single to promote it "Ein Herz kann man nicht reparieren" arrives at #12. The original version of the song reached #29 when it was first released twenty years ago. The new recording features also Inga Humpe, who is part of the 2raumwohnung project (their "36 Grad" hit even has a brand new 2011 version), and also happens to be a sister of Ich + Ich's Annette... Video Another German new entry docks in at #13. Glasperlenspiel is a new band, whose first single "Echt" will present the Baden-Württemberg state at the forthcoming Bundesvision contest on 29 September (20.15 CET on Pro7). Video Somewhat surprisingly one of the new hits comes from British band Snow Patrol, whose "Called Out In The Dark" shoots itself directly at #15. It thus matches the #15 peak of "Shut Your Eyes", while "Chasing Cars" is the group's only top ten single in the country. I personally didn't expect the guys to be back in the top 20 in Germany, especially in times when the rock music is more typical for the upper reaches of the LP charts. Video At #17 Rea Garvey, most famous as the vocalist of German group Reamonn, releases his first proper solo single and by the looks of it with a considerable success. Apart from his credits for "Be Angled", a Jam & Spoon single that reached #16 in 2001, Rea has never been so high in the top 100 without the support of Reamonn. Oh, and timely, this autumn he will also act as a coach for the "The Voice of Germany", good work man... Video And the remaining new entries with videos and some info: 40. James Blunt - I'll be Your Man - Believe it or not, all released singles of James Blunt have entered the top 50 in Germany. Video 48. Jessie J - Nobody's Perfect - A great song but obviously not a worthy successor to the top three peak of "Price Tag". Video 75. Bosse feat. Anna Loos - Frankfurt Oder - A third single for the German singer in the top 100, and having in mind the success of guys such as Tim Bendzko and Andreas Bourani, it's a shame that he is not charting higher... Video 81. Steve Murano - Passion (Twenty Eleven) - The original version was released in 2003 and reached #76 back then. Video 84. Jamatami - Ma-Ya-Hi - The next TV produced pop band makes its appearance but as the numbers show doesn't need our attention at all. Oh, and it's a cover of O-Zone.... Video - Short 93. The Kooks - Junk Of The Heart (Happy) - A third single for the British group to ever stir the German charts. Video The Album Chart In the album chart we have something which is not happening very often - a number two album to rise and peak at #1. However, after the megasucess of almost every song from the LP, David Guetta's "Nothing But The Beat" makes it and is this week's German best selling album. Red Hot Chili Peppers slip to two, while "A Dramatic Turn Of Events", the latest from Dream Theater, fails to crown the chart as many expected and arrives at #3. The other new entries in the top 10: 6 The Kooks - Junk Of The Heart 7 Katzenjammer - A Kiss Before You Go 8 Wynton Marsalis & Eric Clapton - Play The Blues - Live From Jazz At Lincoln Center 10 Chris Rea - Santo Spirito Blues Video links active here: http://yantk.blogspot.com/2011/09/german-c...ue-date_23.html
  7. Yan's German Chart Comments It's a third week in a row for Marlon Roudette on top of the singles chart in Germany, though the competition from Maroon 5's global smash "Moves Like Jagger" is intensifying and the latter moves up to #2 this week. Whether it will be the next number one or like in the UK the song will be destined to be a constant runner-up only the next weeks will tell. Video - Marlon Video - Maroon 5 The interest in Sak Noel's " Loca People (What The F**k!)" is also growing and the dance hit advances to #4 this time around. Top three next? Video The highest new entry has been present in the download charts for a while now and has been finally allowed to chart in the official top 100 at #9. It belongs to Sean Paul, who has been absent from the chart since his "Hold My Hand" burned at #60 two years ago. For his new single the star has teamed up with UK newcomer Alexis Jordan (her own "Happiness" reached only #57 in Germany) and thus "Got 2 Luv U" sees him return to form. The single becomes Paul's fourth top ten song in Germany next to "Get Busy" (peak #3), "Baby Boy (#4) and "We Be Burnin’" (#5). (Now "Got 2 Luv U" should only reach #6 to keep this peculiar trend going on). Video Further down the top 20, David Guetta's Usher collaboration "Without You" reaches #10 and becomes the n-th top ten single of the uberproducer, while Natalia Kills' "Free" reaches a new peak at #17. Audio - David Guetta Video - Natalia Kills New singles can be found at #21 and at #26. First Lena Meyer-Landrut returns to the countdown after the #2 peak of "Taken by a Stranger". "What A Man", which if you ask me is her least appealing single, is taken from the soundtrack of the German hit movie of the same name. The film is already "responsible" for the number one single for the past three weeks. "What A Man" is most famous with its version by Salt' N Pepa from 1993, which reached #39 in Germany (by the way, the peak position of the song means that nowadays it would have never been played on Viva for more than two or three weeks - oh, how things change!). Five positions behind Lena, we can find a far more inspired song coming from Bad Meets Evil, aka the group with the Eminem participation. "Lighters" song marks the first appearance of Bad Meets Evil in this chart and kudos also should go to the man of the moment Bruno Mars, who provides the vocals. Video - Lena Video Following the #2 peak of her duet with (now boyfriend, the good PR always work) Pietro Lombardi, Sarah Engels has entered the period when she should test the chart waters on her own. Thus "Only For You" enters this week at #33 and we can put money on the fact that it's gonna be out in a week or two. Video The German rap scene continues to show some signs of being alive and this week Fler has brought his latest single at the respectable #38. "Spiegelbild" is the first single from the rapper's new album "Im Bus ganz hinten". Video And the remaining new entries with videos and some info: #63 Luxuslärm - Atemlos - a sixth single of the German group in the top 100 and the sixth to miss the top 50. Video #64 Eko Fresh feat. Nino de Angelo - Jenseits von Eden - a brave move for the once famous rapper to make a cover of the famous German number one single from the 80s. Eko Fresh has even invited original singer Nino de Angelo to appear in the song, but with no great success. Video #76 Herbert Grönemeyer - Zu dir - An improvement from the great "Fernweh" (peak #93), the third single taken from Herbert's newest (and quite successful) LP however still charts disappointingly. Live #80 Boy - Little Numbers - It takes a lot of courage to name your music project just Boy, and especially when there are not any boys in it. But anyway, here come the girls, with their first entry in the top 100. Video #93 DJ Antoine feat. The Beat Shakers - Ma Cherie - I don't think that a top hit such as "Welcome to St. Tropez" should be followed in this manner... Video The Album Chart Despite that RHCP and David Guetta keep the first two positions for two weeks, a surprising influx of new names can be seen in the top twenty. So take a deep breath, here come the new entries - #3 Saltatio Mortis - Sturm aufs Paradies #5 Eko Fresh - Ekrem #6 Marlon Roudette - Matter Fixed #9 F.R.- Ganz normaler Wahnsinn #13 Hubert von Goisern - Entwederundoder #14 Boy - Mutual Friends #16 Melanie C - The Sea If you didn't recognize many of them, don't worry, you are not the only one. 8. German chart comments Looking at the changes on the top of the German singles chart, one thing is sure - the autumn is really coming. So, Lucenzo and Don Omar have to give up the #1, where their "Danza Kuduro" stood for just a week, to lead the way to Marlon Roudette to debut directly at the summit. Marlon who? many would say, but the closer look shows that the man is no stranger to the number one position in Germany as part of UK duo Mattafix he stood there in 2004 with the Europe-wide (UK excluded) smash "Big City Life". "New Age" marks the first solo success of Marlon and the song use in the soundtrack of "What A Man" - a German blockbuster and in some commercials of Pro7 meant that is was destined to be a huge smash. In addition, it's a radio friendly song, which Germans always like. The fact that it is also a good tune also helped. Video - What a Man Version Video Thus "Danza Kuduro" steps down to #2, surrounded by new entries as at #3 US band Maroon 5 makes their comeback with aplomb. "Moves Like Jagger" is not only the first top ten single of the group since "This Love" reached #5 in 2004, but is also Maroon 5's biggest successful song in Germany ever. The Jagger hymn also marks the return of Christina Aguilera in the top 3 for the first time since "Hurt" peaked at #2 in 2006. Video In quite busy with new entries week, another one can be found at #9. Big things for Spanish DJ Sak Noel were forecast as early as the summer was reaching as peak, so expectedly dance anthem "Loca People (What The F**k!)" shoots directly in the top ten. The song is already a major hit in Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands and eastern Europe, and like it or hate it, it's definitely one of the hits of summer 2011. Video Over the past weeks I wrote that David Guetta should release all his songs as chart-eligible singles and as it seems his record company has paid attention. This week we have two new entries belonging to him - at #12 his collaboration with Jennifer Hudson "Night Of Your Life" becomes his 13th top 20 song in Germany, while at #84 enters his team-up with Afrojack "Lunar". It would be interesting to see whether other big acts would be able to follow the same release strategy with a success...Oh, and at #7 David's "Titanium" makes a new peak - perhaps it would gain a video soon? Audio - Night of Your Life Audio - Lunar Audio - Titanium At #20 UK singer Natalia Kills returns to the top 20 with "Free" for the first time after her smash "Mirrors" reached #10, while follow-up "Wonderland" stumbled at #45. Video A much better song is on the rise in the mid-twenties, where "Jona Vark" of Gypsy and The Cat is advancing by three slots to peak #22. Hopefully the VIVA anthem will reach the top 20 next. Video At #28 "Next To You", Chris Brown's team-up with Justin Bieber turns into the fifth top 30 single for both the rapper and the teen star. Video After the somewhat surprising success of Caro Emerald's "A Night Like This" (peak #4), the Dutch singer's follow-up "Stuck" debuts this week at the respectful #41. Video Three positions behind, Lenny Kravitz, who this week can congratulate himself with the #1 album, brings his latest single "Stand" in the top 50, up from #69 a week earlier. Video And the remaining new entries with videos: #46 - Doreen - Wie konntest du nur - the ex-Nu Pagadi (remember them?) singer brings another solo single in the countdown. The top 25 however is still out of reach. Video #61 - Nicole Scherzinger feat. 50 Cent - Right There - seeing the poor placing of this UK top 3 smash, the decision to not release previous Nicole's singles in Germany was probably a good one. Pussycat Dolls were never that much successful in Germany either... Video #72 - Thees Uhlmann - Zum Laichen und sterben ziehen die Lachse den Fluss hinauf - The first single of the German singer to enter the charts. Pls, next time give it a try with a shorter title... Live #80 - Haudegen - Zu Hause - Another first top 100 single for a German act. Video #98 - Kim Wilde - It's Alright / Sleeping Satellite - Despite Kim's popularity in Germany, her decision to cover two classics was obviously not welcomed well. Video - It's Alright Video - Sleeping Satellite The Album Chart "Black And White America", the 9th studio album of Lenny Kravits becomes the star's first ever number one in Germany, while Adele's "21" falls to #2 and heavy metal band J.B.O.'s "Killeralbum" debuts at #3. In the top ten we have a new entry also at #5 by Daniel Wirtz, the singer of German group Sub7even, and his solo project "Akustik Voodoo". 9. Yes, I know, but still I liked watching it in the morning before work.
  10. MTV has asked the cable operators to cease transmitting it as of May 1 (at least that is what the operators say). I guess if I buy a satellite dish I'll be able to watch it, but the German VIVA is not on my cable any more. And yes, perhaps Ban was not the most suitable word, but I'm not a fan of MTV so it felt appropriate when I was writing ;)
  11. German chart comments The domination of Alexandra Stan in Germany continues for yet another, actually seventh week, as "Mr. Saxobeat" remains the dance anthem of top choice in the country. However, the reign of the Romanian singer is most certain to come to an end next week as Don Omar's "Danza Kuduro" intensifies its competition by rising to #2 and most probably will claim the number one title next Friday. Video - Al. Stan Video - Don Omar The highest new entry at #8 belongs to the man of the moment (perhaps the biggest commercially successful DJ and dance producer over the last few years?) David Guetta. "Titanium" is the third offering of David's latest album (to be released on 26 August) and comes only six weeks after "Little Bad Girl" entered the countdown. As it is a tradition now, the song still has no video but that doesn't stop it from becoming Guetta's ninth top ten single in Germany. I think that if he releases all songs from his LP in this way he would make a record of top ten singles in the country... This week "Little Bad Girl" is at #10, while "Where Them Girls At" can be found at #26. We should also not forget Guetta's involvement in Snoop Dogg's "Sweat", which occupies the 19th position. Audio Two new peaks worth mentioning in the top 20 by Jason Derulo's "Don't Wanna Go Home" at #11 (up from #12) and of Bag Raiders' "Way Back Home" at #17 (up from #19). Video - Jason Derulo Video - Bag Raiders The second highest new entry arrives at #19 in the form of the way too American "I'm Into You", the second single from Jennifer Lopez's current album. The song comes after J.Lo. made the world dance lambada again (or sort of) with "On The Floor" (this week at #7), which is already a frontrunner for the number one slot on the year-end chart. If you ask me "I'm Into You", with the support of Lil Wayne, has no flava to be a smash hit in Germany and its belated release doesn't help either. Video After the success of Bag Raiders, Gypsy & The Cat, another act from Australia, also finds its place in the top 100. The energizing "Jona Vark" comes new at #27, its sales also boosted by the music use on VIVA's spots. It's not that someone watches VIVA anymore (it's forbidden here in Bulgaria, but that's another matter). Last time around, the MTV-owned music channel used The Naked And Famous' "Young Blood", which reached #30 at the start of the year. Video Following the relatively poor performance of "Gebt alles" (peak #31), "Tanz", the second single of Cassandra Steen's newest album, manages a little bit better by entering (surprisingly) at #28. Video The German presence in the countdown is backed up by the new entry of Klee's "Willst du bei mir bleiben?" at #29. The single, taken from the band's fourth album, reaches the same peak as "Zwei Herzen", the best performing single of the Cologne-group from 2008. Video A special note also to Martin Solveig's "Ready 2 Go", which like predecessor "Hello", is slowly month after month burning its way up the chart and this week makes a new peak at #45. Video The remaining new entries with videos: 60 Dorfrocker - Auf der Alm Video 72 Lenny Kravitz - Stand Video 80 Auletta - Make Love Work Video 81 Big Time Rush - Worldwide Video 89 Lovers Electric - Beating Like A Drum Video 94 Evanescence - What You Want Lyrics Video The Album Chart So Amy Winehouse has actually made it, three weeks after her "Back To Black" album returned to the top three of the charts, it managed to overcome the schlager and German rap competition and to reach the summit once again after its initial success back in 2008. The only new entry in the top 10 comes at #8 in the face of "In Waves", the latest album of US trash metal band Trivium. 12. German chart comments - Issue date - 5.08.2011 No one can stop Alexandra Stan's "Mr. Saxobeat" to spend a fifth week on the top of the German singles charts, although Tim Bendzko's "Nur noch kurz die Welt retten" is increasing its pressure by advancing a position to #2. The competition is also intensified by one of the summer hits of 2011 as "Danza kuduro" by Lucenzo & Don Omar moves up four to peak at #3. Video - Alexandra Stan Video - Tim Bendzko Video - Don Omar Further down the top 10, DJ Antoine vs. Timati's "Welcome to St. Tropez" reaches another milestone as it finally breaks into the top. The summer hit soars six and stands comfortably at #6 in what is (I think) its 18 week in the countdown. Video At #16 Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" moves once again by a single slot and by the looks of it will not be able to enter the top 10. Video The highest new entry comes in at #17 belonging to Enrique Iglesias, who is continuing his dirty session with "Dirty Dancer". Enrique's collaboration with Usher and Lil Wayne comes after the admittedly low #12 peak of "Tonight". Video The big news of course is the return of Amy Winehouse's back catalogue in the Top 100. "Back to black", Amy's biggest hit in Germany albeit from her Mark Ronson collaboration "Valerie" (peak #3), leads the pack as it re-enters at #18. First time around "Back To Black" reached #8. Video Here is a list of the remaining Amy's re-entries this week and their peaks: #27 Amy Winehouse - Rehab, peak #23 Video #48 Amy Winehouse - Valerie, peak #48 Live #52 Mark Ronson feat. Amy Winehouse - Valerie, peak #3 Video #71 Amy Winehouse - You know I'm no good, peak #71 Video #81 Amy Winehouse - Tears dry on their own, peak #56 Video Among the non-Amy news, local punk rock band Broilers scores its second ever single in the top 100. "Wie weit wir gehen" enters new at #28 and arrives after "Harter Weg" debuted at #41 several months ago before disappearing completely just a week afterwards. Video Now we have officially entered a period when a single of Britney Spears in the top 50 will be considered an achievement. Thus, "I Wanna Go", the third single taken from Britney's newest album "Femme Fatale", debuts at #32, managing to become her second least successful song in Germany next to the #36 peak of "If You Seek Amy". She however continues to be popular in her native USA... Video A position behind Britney, Red Hot Chili Peppers bring their comeback single "The adventures of rain dance Maggie" to the countdown. The song becomes the ninth top 50 single of the band, which strangely continues to have only one top 10 song in the face of "Snow ((Hey Oh))". Audio Following the mega-success of "Nein, Mann!", which peaked at #5, "Weightless", the second single of dance project Laserkraft 3D stumbles to have the same impact as it arrives at #46 this week. Video The remaining new entries with videos: #58 Darius & Finlay feat. Daz - Here comes the night Video #92 Lolita Jolie - Joli garcon Video #96 Firefox AK - Boom boom boom Video The Album Chart Contrary to all expectations, Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black" failed to score the number one in the LP chart, where it was outperformed by schlager group Die Amigos, whose latest album "Mein Himmel auf Erden" shoots itself straight at #1. Thus "Back To Black" re-enters at #2, burdened maybe by its lower price, which has curbed its chances for a great performance. It still continues to be the best selling album in Germany for 2008 though... Video links active here: http://yantk.blogspot.com/2011/08/german-c...issue-date.html
  13. German chart comments It was expected as early as last week, but the resurging interest in Jennifer Lopez's "On The Floor" had prevented then Alexandra Stan to reach the summit in Germany. Now, all is settled and done as the Romanian beauty rises #3-#1 to claim the crown. Following O-Zone's mega-success in 2004 (yes, they are actually from Moldova), now the honour goes to Stan to justify the statement that Romanians have advanced considerably in their music industry. Her success comes after last year Edward Maya scored one of the hits of the summer with "Stereo Love" and is also hot on the heels of Inna, who has conquered UK and other parts of Europe, though still lacks a top 20 in Germany. Video Down in the top 10 two peaks worth mentioning - at #6 Lady Gaga's "Edge Of Glory" advances a position, proving my assumption that it's gonna be a hit and at #7 Tim Bendzko's "Nur noch kurz die Welt retten" rises from #9. Video - Lady Gaga Video - Tim The highest new entry of the week comes from superstar Rihanna. "California King Bed" is the fourth single taken from her current album and by entering at #9 it becomes the 16th!!! top ten song of the singer in Germany. An achievement surpassed only by Britney Spears and Madonna in terms of solo female power. Video Only ten days ago the music TV channels welcomed the fact that David Guetta was ready with the video for his "Where Them Girls At" (this week down to #20) and that they can actually rotate the hit, which peaked at #5 without any real promotion. Now, however, the record company decides to release in a rush a second single from the latest, still to come out, album of the French DJ. Thus, Guetta's collaboration with Taio Cruz & Ludacris "Little Bad Girl" enters new at #11. Should I say that it has no video? Audio After last week we had only four new entries in the entire top 100, this time around there are eight in the top 50 alone. Jason Derülo, the current king of the UK charts, brings in the pilot single of his second album at #14. "Whatcha Say" and "In My Head", the first two offerings from Jason's debut LP reached the top 10, a feat which "Don't Wanna Go Home" will have to match in the weeks to come. Video Four positions beneath Derulo enters the latest discovery from Deutschland sucht den Superstar. Sebastian Wurth ranked fifth in the final for 2011 but that didn't stop him and his producers from releasing a single - a move which turns successful as Sebastian now has a top 20 single on his account. Only time will tell whether he really is the German Justin Bieber. Video Expectedly, Don Omar's summer smash "Danza Kuduro" soars 19 positions this week and enters the top 20 for the first time at #19. The summer vibe is really up to the maximum. Video At #22 Katy Perry arrives with the fifth single of her second album, already a home of four top ten singles. "Last Friday Night", and especially its video, is a welcome addition to the charts, though for now (understandably) being outside the top 20. Video If you by now haven't noticed that DJ Antoine's "Welcome To St. Tropez" is slowly climbing towards the top 20 over the past few months, you probably haven't paid much attention. The dance anthem rises this week to #24. Video Ending their remarkable top-10 series of singles The Black Eyed Peas enter this week at #28 with "Don't Stop The Party". The party may have not stopped but this is the second song of BEP to miss the top 20 in their Fergie years. The other one was last year's "Imma Be", which reached #49. Video At #38 there is a return to the charts for ex-Spice girl Melanie C. "Rock Me" comes four years after "This Time" stalled at #69. And let's not forget that unlike her native UK, Melanie is much loved in Germany, where it had a number one hit in the face of "First Day of My Life" in 2005. Video Two more new entries in the top 100: #42 Pigeon John - The Bomb Video #78 Brandyn Hwood Bordeaux - Could It Be You Video The Album Chart The changes atop the album chart may have shocked many but the truth is that rock fans and teenage girls should not be underestimate. I'm speaking of course for the fact that Limp Bizkit's newest album "Gold Cobra" shoots directly at the top, while Sarah Engels' debut "Heartbeat" follows close behind. The problem is that the much anticipated and heralded album of Beyonce "4" enters as low as #5. Actually we shouldn't be so surprised as the facts are that in Germany there was nothing to support the release of her latest album - a proper and good single I mean... At the same time last week's #1 - In Flames' "Sounds Of A Playground Fading" collapsed to #12 this time around. German chart comments - Issue date - 1.07.2011 Fuelled by a TV appearance in Germany, Jennifer Lopez' former number one single "On The Floor" returns this week to the summit after giving up the top in May. Thus the Pitbull collaboration spends a sixth cumulative week as a number one single in Germany. Video The most successful new hit of the week is also TV-related and comes from Pietro Lombardi and Sarah Engels, respectively the winner and the runner-up of the latest edition of Deutschland sucht den Superstar. Pietro gave up the number one position only three weeks ago, after his debut single "Call My Name" entered directly at #1 and stayed there for four weeks. Sarah Engels debut single of the same name peaked at #2. Curiously enough, "Sweat", the duet between last year's winner Mehrzad Marashi (whose career seems to have ended rather quickly) and Mark Medlock, also reached #2 in the summer of 2010. "I Miss You" now comes after the hot reports that Pietro and Sarah are dating. It's marvellous how broad publicity can bring boring songs like this to the heights of the charts. Video At #3 Alexandra Stan retreats a position with "Mr. Saxobeat" but as J.Lo. will definitely collapse next week and Pietro & Sarah's love affair is destined to fade away in a glimpse, the chances that Alexandra may actually hit the top spot are not to be underestimated. Video A welcome peak for the revival of German music at #9 as Tim Bendzko brings his, may I say great, debut single "Nur noch kurz die Welt retten" in the top 10 for the first time since its entry two weeks ago. Video Not much going on in the rest of the top 30 apart from the #26 peak of DJ Antoine's "Welcome To St. Tropez". Video The second highest new entry of the week comes from reggaeton musician and occasional actor Don Omar."Danza Kuduro" is the first single of Don Omar to enter the top 100 and despite starting slowly at #38 perhaps the hot summer days will shoot the catchy song, which features in the soundtrack of megahit Fast Five, in the top 20 soon. Video Only two new entries in the remainder of the top 100. At #50 dance project Tom Hangs feat. Shermanology comes in with "Blessed" and at #67 Annemarie Eilfeld changes her name for a third time, which however doesn't help "Seele unter Eis" do wonders in the countdown. As Annemie the singer had a top 30 single with "Animal Instinct" in 2010. Video - Tom Hangs Video - Annemarie The Album Chart Changes also on top the album chart, with Swedish metal band In Flames bringing its 11th album Sounds Of A Playground Fading directly to the summit. Thus three-week winner Pietro Lombardi slips to #2, while Adele completes the top three. Tim Bendzko brings his first CD called "Wenn Worte meine Sprache wären" new at #4, while he-is-so-hot-right-now-it's-unbelievable Pitbull enters at #6 with Planet Pit - his first album to enter the German top 10. German chart comments - Issue date - 24.06.2011 "The Party Rock Anthem" of LMFAO seems locked down at #1 this week, for a second time in a row. Making a third week on the top, however, would be quite a feat for the guys, in view of the increasing competition from Alexandra Stan, whose "Mr. Saxobeat" rises to #2 from #4. Video - LMFAO Video - Stan Boosted by a performance on the finale of Germany's Next Topmodel, "The Edge of Glory", Lady Gaga's third proper single from her second album soars to #7 from #37. Perhaps the flop of previous single "Judas" to even enter the top 20 is already behind her? I personally expect, now, with a video, "The Edge of Glory" to have quite a decent run in the top 10 in Germany over the next weeks. The song is Gaga's ninth single, out of ten, to reach the top 10 in the country. Video Also supported by an appearance on Germany's Next Topmodel, Keri Hilson comes back to the German top 20 with "Pretty Girl Rock" at #14. Last time around miss Hilson topped the chart with her single "I Like", which was used in a local Till Schweiger movie. That once again shows how important the good promotion for a song placement is. Video The second new entry comes from British superband Coldplay, who bring their energizing new single "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" at #28. Maybe the lack of a video will stop the great song to reach other heights, or even enter the top 10 as "Violet Hill" and "Viva La Vida" did before it. Live The only other activity worth noting in the top 50 is the #28-#24 rise of Natasha Bedinfield's "Pocketful of Sunshine", which is steadily turning into one of the summer hits in Germany despite actually several years old. Video The other new entries with videos (just watch how Lafee and DSDS's 2010 winner flop (for now at least) massively): #60 - Anna-Maria Zimmermann - 100.000 leuchtende Sterne Audio #80 - Lafee - Ich bin Video #85 - Mehrzad Marashi - Beautiful World Video #88 - Rob & Chris - Eskalation Video The Album Chart Despite that he is fading quickly in the singles chart (this week down to #13), Pietro Lombardi sticks to the number one in the albums for a third consecutive week. The highest new entry belongs to local punk band Broilers at #2. "Harter Weg", the pilot single from the "Santa Muerte" album, entered the singles countdown at #41 before vanishing completely in the following week. New entries in the LP top 20 also by supergroup Black Country Communion and "2" at #7, while Thomas Anders and Fahrenkrog bring their collaborative album, also called "Two", at #11. German chart comments - 17.06.2010 Expectedly, the worldwide smash hit of LMFAO "Party Rock Anthem" has taken the crown in Germany after a steady climb for several weeks. Blame it on the weather, but we have another dance hit on the top just five weeks after Jennifer Lopez's "Lambada" rendition stood there. Video Last week's number one "Call My Name" of superstar Pietro Lombardi plummets to #7 but expect him to return in the upper positions of the countdown with his duet with Sarah Engels, which is already getting a solid airplay. Video - I Miss You The retreat of the DSDS winner leaves a way to a completely dance top five, with Pitbull taking the second and the third positions with "Give Me Everything" and his participation on the "On The Floor" anthem of Jennifer Lopez. At #4 Romanian newcomer Alexandra Stan shoots herself with "Mr. Saxobeat", up from #14 last week. Have I mentioned that fellow country star Inna has never had a top 20 hit in Germany? Video - Alexandra Video - Give Me Everything Video - On The Floor The summer vibe is also completed with the #5 position of Snoop Dogg and David Guetta's "Sweat". Video Further down the top 10, Adele's "Set Fire To The Rain" has finally been hit (expectedly) and falls for the first time since its entry in the top 100 and this week occupies the #8 position. At the same Jupiter Jones' "Still" finally makes it to the top 10, bringing a German-language song there for the first time in ages. Adele - Live Video - Jupiter Jones Dance music continues its dominance at #13 where the highest new entry of the week can be found. Dancefloor project Cascada enters the chart with the brand new single "San Francisco", which is one of their most lacklustre ones but that's just my opinion ... Cascada has three top ten hits on its account - "Everytime We Touch" (peak #5), "What Hurts the Most" (#9) and "Evacuate the Dancefloor" (#5). Video The second highest new entry comes in at #26, belonging to Shakira. "Rabiosa" is the third single taken from Shakira's current album and follows the #1 football anthem "Waka Waka" and the #6 peak of "Loca". Video In the top 30 three new peak positions worth mentioning this week by Frida Gold's "Wovon sollen wir träumen" at #21, Natasha Bedingfield's "Pocketful of Sunshine" at #28 and DJ Antoine's "Welcome To St. Tropez" at #29. Did I say that it's summer? Video - Frida Gold Video - Nat. Bed. Video - DJ Antoine The non-summer new entries this week come in the lower end of the top 50. At #40 Avril Lavigne continues with its so-so performance as "Smile", the second single taken from her newest album, also fails to set the charts on fire. It comes after the #21 peak of "What the Hell". Video Two new entries also at #44 and #45 in the face of Bushido's "Wärst du immer noch hier?" and Natalia Kills' "Wonderland". The two singles follow the top 20 success of Bushido's "Vergiss mich" and the top ten entry of Natalia Kills' "Mirrors". Video - Bushido Video - Natalia Kills Between #51 and #100, the honour for the only new entry goes to Simple Plan and their collaboration with Natasha Bedingfield as "Jet Lag" arrives at #65. Video The Album Chart Despite giving up the number one in the singles, Pietro Lombardi sticks for a second week on top of the LP chart with "Jackpot", which has already been granted a gold status for just seven days in the shops. The highest new entry comes from Paul Kalkbrenner at #2. The German DJ has been in the lower parts of the singles chart with "Sky and Sand" for more than a year. Proving once again their chart longevity in Germany, Depeche Mode's latest compilation under the name "Remixes 2: 81 – 11" enters new at #3. In comparison "Remixes 81...04" reached #2. The latest LP of German hip hop group K.I.Z. enters this week at #4, while all grannies in Germany brought Semino Rossi's newest "Augenblicke" in at #6. At the same time UK finest, Arctic Monkeys, arrive at #10 with their latest CD. Video links active here: http://yantk.blogspot.com/2011/06/german-c...ue-date_18.html

There are no German charts here lately but if you're interested you can read my comments on the latest chart below: German chart comments - Issue date - 10.06.2011 A fourth week atop the German singles chart for Pietro Lombardi, who can now congratulate himself with doing a double as his debut album shoots itself straight at the summit of the LP chart. Video - Vbox Pietro's closest challenger in the singles chart is the "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO, which by the looks of it is destined to be next week's number one. Video Inside the top ten new peaks this week by Adele's "Set Fire To The Rain" at #6, whose climb will finally come to an end soon either by reaching #1 or by being outsold by other strong contenders for the top. Last week's debutant Brooke Fraser is also on the rise and advances a position to #8 with "Something In The Water". Adele - Live Video - Brooke Fraser The highest of only four new entries in the Top 100 comes from Bruno Mars, who follows his number one smash "Grenade" with "Lazy Song". The latter creeps this week at #9. Video After last week we had Andreas Bourani entering the countdown for the first time at #16, this time around German music (and especially its male solo representatives) shows yet another sign of renaissance as Tim Bendzko brings his pilot single "Nur noch kurz die Welt retten" at #12. Video In the top 20 new peaks achieved this week by Jupiter Jones' "Still" at #11, Alexandra Stan's "Mr. Saxobeat" at #14 and Bag Raiders' "Way Back Home" at #20. The latter soars eighteen positions in its second week and for now looks to be yet another advertisement-inspired hit in Germany. Live Jupiter Jones Video - Alexandra Stan Video - Bag Raiders Two steps behind the Aussies climbs Frida Gold, whose "Wovon sollen wir träumen" is increasingly becoming a strong hit for the German band. Live The third new entry comes at #30 from so-hot-right-now Chris Brown. His collaboration with DJ Benny Benassi marks the second release from Chris Brown's current album "Fame" and comes after the mega success of "Yeah 3X", which now occupies the 28th position. Video After appearing for just a week at the lower end of the chart several weeks ago, the latest remixes of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" return for yet another, this time more successful, attempt for a countdown dominance. Thus the single reenters at #36 this week. Video The latest new entry at #40 belongs to Thomas Anders, the better half of Modern Talking (just kidding here), who has teamed with Fahrenkrog for "Gigolo". Nostalgia at a full max! Video The Album Chart As it became clear Pietro Lombardi has managed to kick off Lady Gaga's sophomore album at the summit as his "Jackpot" goes straight at #1. In comparison, the debut album of last year's winner Mehrzad Marashi reached #3. Thus Gaga retreats to #2 and Adele to #3. The next new entry comes for the pleasure of all schlager fans as Michael Wendler's latest album "Donnerwetter" goes in at #7. German duo Haudegen is responsible for the third and last new entry inside the top ten with "Schlicht & Ergreifend" showing at #10. 18. German chart comments - Issue date - 13.05.2011 Still a slow period atop the German singles chart, where Jennifer Lopez's "On The Floor" clocks up a fifth week. Once again J.Lo. biggest challenger is Snoop Dogg and the David Guetta remix of "Sweat". Video - J.Lo. Video - Snoop For a change, this week we have a powerful new entry straight in the top three. The song in question belongs to Jessie J, the extremely hot newcomer from UK. "Price Tag", her second single, has already made history in UK and is also climbing inside the USA top 100, thus unsurprisingly it lands at #3 in Germany. In comparison, Jessie J's pilot single "Do It Like A Dude" peaked at #41 several months ago. Video Further in the top 10, we have another new entry, coming from LMFAO & Lauren Bennett & GoonRock, whose "Party Rock Anthem" launches directly at #7. The song has already been a smash in UK, but though it's not the worst out there, I'm still not getting the appeal. Video Inside the top 10, we should also mention a new peak by Caro Emerald's extremely popular "A Night Like This" at #4 and the #11-#10 climb of Pitbull and his "Give Me Everything". The latter already has a video, so I guess only big things lie ahead of the single. Video - Caro Video - Pitbull At #12 Aloe Blacc shoots back in the top 20 with his second single "Loving You Is Killing Me", which still has to rise in the top 10 to match the success of "I Need A Dollar". Video It's now obligatory but yes, once again, Adele's "Set Fire To The Rain" goes up and enters the top 20 for the first time in its steady climb. Video (live) The third highest new entry comes from Groove Coverage at #22. The German act is responsible for dancefloor anthems from the early 2000s, such as "Moonlight Shadow", "God Is a Girl" and "Poison". Continuing the tradition "Angeline" is once again a cover, this time of "Lotusblume" by German band Die Flippers, but nevertheless it so reminds me of the great VIVA days, that all I can do is love it! Video It's better late than never, but despite the success of O Zone and Edward Maya, Romanian singer Inna has never had a top 30 single in Germany. And she even had a top 10 hit in UK! Now all this changes, as "Sun Is Up" enters new at #26, beating by ten positions the #36 peak of "Amazing". Inna Enjoying a steady career after their Eurovision performance exactly a year ago, Norwegian band Madcon bring another single in the top 30. "Outrun The Sun" comes after "Glow" reached #4 and stood in the top 50 for ages, and "Freaky Like Me" peaked #9. Video At #41 German punk band Broilers (a great name btw) finally makes it to the top 100 with its "Harter Weg". The band has been active since the mid-1990s, but this is the first time the commercial market smiles at it. Anyway, if you, like me, have been unacquainted with the Broilers, they are worth checking out... Video Though I expected "Friends Turbo", the latest single of super band Scooter to soar quickly, it actually faded to #59 last week but this time rebounds 16 positions and peaks at #43. It still is the least successful single of H.P. and co. but at least enters the top 50. The song, which features in the soundtrack of #1 movie "New Kids Turbo", is based on Scooter's 1995 hit "Friends", which reached #3. Video Between the 50-100 positions we have only one new entry, belonging to heartthrob Nick Carter, of Backstreet Boys fame. "Just One Kiss" is the third solo single of Nick to enter the top 100 after the 2002 "Help Me" peaked #18 and the 2003 "I Got You" flopped at #87. Video The Album Chart Five new albums enter the top ten this week, with veterans Beastie Boys leading the pack with " Hot Sauce Committee Part Two", which enters at #3. The guys have had only one number one album in Germany - "Hello Nasty" from 1998. Despite being #1 in the singles chart, Jennifer Lopez fails to capture the same kind of magic in the LPs, where her "Love" album enters at #4. Nevertheless, apart from the misjudged "Brave", all albums of the latino star have entered the German top five so far, with "J.Lo" reaching the summit in 2001. "Mir so nah", the third solo album of Cassandra Steen, comes new at #5, becoming her most successful in terms of peak positions. A great news for fans of club music as ATB brings his eight album "Distant Earth" straight at #7, a position, which the DJ has never reached so far in his long career. The last new entry in the top ten belongs to House MD, or as his friends call him Hugh Laurie, who has conquered the music scene with his blues albums "Let Them Talk", which comes in at #8. Once again the top two positions remain unchanged, occupied by Adele and Herbert Groenemeyer, whose freshest new single can be heard via the link below. 19. German chart comments - Issue date - 29.04.2011 It's once again Lambada time on top of the German singles chart as Jennifer Lopez stays there for a third consecutive week. There are also no changes at #2 and #3, where David Guetta/Snoop Dogg and Rihanna, respectively, spend yet another week. Video J.Lo. Video Snoop Video Rihanna Not much going on down the top 10 with only Katy Perry making a new peak at #9, up from #10, and Usher's amazing "More" jumping five positions to #10 and thus being among the first ten for the first time since its release. Video Katy Video- Usher In the top 20 there are also new peaks for "Loving You Is Killing Me", Aloe Blacc's "I Need A Dollar" follow-up, which rises to #16 from #33 and Jupiter Jones' "Still", up three to #20. Video - Aloe Video - Jupiter The highest new entry can be found as low as #25, seeing the return of hip-hop legend Dr Dre in the countdown. The great "I Need A Doctor" is the first single of Dr Dre as a lead artist since 2001 to enter the charts, while only "Keep Their Heads Ringin" has been more successful by reaching #23 in 1995. Video Two positions behind Dr Dre, Britney Spears comes back in the charts after the misfire of her last single "Hold It Against Me". However, the latter still managed to peaked at #23 despite plummeting quickly in the next weeks, while "Till The World Ends" is already Britney's lowest charting single in Germany apart from "If You Seek Amy". She definitely needs to do something to win again the big German market... Video At #44 the Top 100 sees a new entry by Selena Gomez, whose "Who Says" is her fourth single to chart in Germany. The song becomes her second most successful albeit no nowhere near the #14 peak of "Naturally". Video A few more peak positions worth mentioning are at #43 by Mads Langer's "You're Not Alone" and at #49 by Big Time Rush's "Boyfriend". Oh, and once again let not forget Adele, whose "Set Fire To The Rain" is already in the top 30 at #29. Video - Mads Video - BTR Adele - Live And the remaining new entries with videos: 51 Scooter - Friends Turbo - I guess it is going to soar in the forthcoming weeks Video 55 Michael Jackson - Hollywood Tonight - a follow-up to the #7 peak of "Hold My Hand" and a real grower Video 78 Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus 2011 Remix - Alex Metric 100 The Baseballs - Hello - based on the current top hit of Martin Solveig (this week at #11) Video The Album Chart It's Herbert Groenemeyer who has reclaimed his lost #1 in Germany and spends a second week atop the LP charts. The highest new entry belongs to the guys from The Baseballs, who enter the chart at #6 with their sophomore album "Strings'N'Stripes". Their 2009 album "Strike" also came in at #6 and since then the cover specialists have become one of the best exports from Germany. In addition, Big Time Rush's "BTR" debuts this week at #16, while Frida Gold's "Juwel" comes new at #18. Video - Frida Gold - Zeig... 20. good publicity I suppose :D but no time for a video
  21. German chart comments - Issue date - 22.04.2011 No changes atop the German singles chart where Jennifer Lopez' great "On The Floor" spends a second week. At the same time, Rihanna, J. Lo.'s biggest competitor last week, retreats a position to #3 due to the strong leap of Snoop Dogg and David Guetta's collaboration - the extremely catchy "Sweat", which reminds of the forthcoming summer whichever way you look at it. By reaching #2 "Sweat" not only becomes one of the most successful singles of David Guetta but also quite easily beats the #3 peak of "Signs" - Snoop's best performing song in Germany. Video - J Lo Video - Rihanna / Britney - check out the new S&M remix Video - Snoop Further down in the top 10 Caro Emerald can congratulate herself with her first ever top 5 single in the country as driven by a performance on Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS) her "A Night Like This" shoots from #18 to #5. Video Not more of a great importance in the top 20 with the highest new entry coming in at #21. It belongs to Menowin, who lost last year's DSDS to Mehrzad Marashi in a battle which spread not only on RTL but also on all media in Germany. "If You Stayed" is the pilot single of the notorious singer, who was even in jail several years ago, and by entering at #21 it has all chances to fade quickly away. Audio This week also sees the return of one of the finest German bands in the last decade - Söhne Mannheims, whose "Ist es wahr (Aim high)" bears all the trademarks of Xavier and co and should have entered considerably higher than the #27 position. Video (bad quality) Live TV Total There are also two re-entries worth noting in the top 50 (fuelled of course by performances on DSDS) as Kings of Leon's biggest single in Germany "Use Somebody" comes back at #30 and Michael Andrews & Gary Jules' smash "Mad World" re-enters at #49. Video Kings Video Before "Mad World" however we have Taio Cruz's latest single "Telling The World" coming new at #35. The single, maybe somewhat overshadowed by the continuing strong performance of "Higher", Taio's team-up with Kylie Minogue (this week at #14), is taken from the soundtrack of current hit movie "Rio". Video Two positions behind Taio Cruz, "Set Fire To The Rain", Adele's follow-up to "Rolling In The Deep" soars 16 places and peaks at #37 in its third week in the countdown. Can't wait for the video for the great song! Live Oh, let's pay also attention to the #33 peak of Aloe Blacc's "Loving You Is Killing Me", perhaps the man will not be a one-hit wonder as I've expected. Video And the remaining new entries with videos: (three of them strongly supported now by VIVA and one supported by the "music" channel back in the great old pre-MTV days) 51 Big Time Rush - Boyfriend Video 61 Emma6 - Paradiso Video 70 Laith Al-Deen - Sicher sein Audio 82 Beatsteaks - Cheap Comments Video The Album Chart Despite many expecting Herbert Gronemeyer to return this week at the top in Germany, its Foo Fighters who claim their first ever number one in the country's album chart with "Wasting Light". German rapper Fler brings yet another new album in the top ten as "Airmax Muzik 2" enters at #6. The rapper can now boast his sixth top ten LP out of six released - a great achievement. 22. German chart comments - Issue date - 15.04.2011 It has been 12 years since Jennifer Lopez made her astonishing music debut with "If You Had My Love" and 12 years since her pilot single reached #5 in Germany - a peak she was unable to defeat for more than a decade. Now, however, this all changes as "On The Floor", one of the most energizing songs this spring, shoots from #6 to #1 to not only beat the performance of "If You Had My Love" but also to become the first number one of the diva in Germany. Video Congratulations also should go to Rihanna, whose excellent "S&M", the third single from the artist's newest album, rises three positions and peaks at #2. It thus matches the peak reached by "Only Girl", the first offer from the album, and eclipses by far the #12 success of "What's My Name". As "S&M" is the superior and more European-friendly song, no regrets here. Video This leaves us to Bruno Mars, who has to fall from the top for a second and maybe the last time and this week occupies the third position. Video In the top 10 we should also pay attention to how the Snoop Dogg and David Guetta collaboration soars 13 positions to reach #6 in its second week on the countdown. Now it becomes the second most successful single of the US rapper after the #3 peak of "Signs". "Don't You Want Me", the Felix dance classic from the 90s on which the "Sweat" remix is based, reached #2 in Germany. Video In its third week in the top 100, the amazing "E.T." from Katy Perry rises seven places to enter the top 10 and thus to make all four of the singles from her second album top-ten hits in Germany. Video Before jumping to the highest new entry, let's pay attention to new peaks by Caro Emerald's "A Night Like This" at #18, Jupiter Jones' "Still" at #23 and Beth Ditto's "I Wrote The Book" at #24. Video Caro Video Jupiter Video Beth The honour for the highest new entry goes to Cassandra Steen, whose "Stadt" was one of the biggest hits in Germany in 2009. "Gebt alles" marks the release of Steen's third solo album but by entering at #31 it seems that giving everything was not enough even for the top 30. Video Fuelled by the #1 success of their latest album (see below) Guano Apes' "Oh What A Night" soars #55-#37, two positions above the second new entry this week. Frida Gold's "Wovon sollen wir träumen" comes on the back of the band's enormous support by VIVA but for now this is not enough to even beat the #38 peak of their debut single "Zeig mir wie du tanzt". It's a catchy song though, so check it out. Video - Guano Video - Frida At #53 Adele's powerful "Set Fire To The Rain" skyrockets from #89 where it entered last week. Video The last new entry of the week can be found at #65, where Austrian volksmusician Andreas Gabalier brings his "I sing a Liad für di". (Pass the beer please) Video The Album Chart Despite thinking that Herbert Grönemeyer was unmovable from the top spot in the LP countdown, Guano Apes do the impossible and bring their fourth album direct at #1. Having in mind that the two previous studio albums of Sandra and the guys also reached the summit, perhaps this was not so huge feat after all. And of course, expect Herbert to reclaim once again the crown soon. At #3 Norwegian legends A-Ha end their career (which was extremely successful especially in Germany), with their live album "Ending On A High Note - The Final Concert - Live At Oslo Spektrum", while Milow follows the success of his single "You and Me (In My Pocket)" by placing his second album at #4. And finally let's pay a tribute to the one and only, the greatest, the strongest and the biggest of them all as The Hoff returns to the music scene. His newest album "A Real Good Feeling" follows his recent tour and enters at #26. Enjoy! Video Video links active here - http://yantk.blogspot.com/2011/04/german-c...ue-date_15.html
  23. German chart comments - Issue date - 1.04.2011 Lady Gaga has to retreat from the number one in Germany two weeks after reaching it as Bruno Mars' "Grenade" regains strength and bounces back to the summit. The song, whose sales were boosted by performances on the DSDS show, has now five non-consecutive weeks as the German number one. Video The highest and for sure the most surprising new entry comes in at #3. Belgian singer Milow was extremely successful in 2009 with his take on 50 Cent's "Ayo Technology", which reached #2 in Germany. The song was followed by the #15 peak of "You Don't Know" and the #19 of "Out of My Hands". At that time, Milow was destined to be a one-hit wonder but now this all changes as his "You and Me (In My Pocket)", the lead single from his new album, enters directly at #3 in Germany. Video Milow even manages to outscore superstar Rihanna, whose "S&M" finally charts in Germany. Strangely, the singles from Rihanna's latest album have a somewhat delayed release schedule in the country, but you'd never know what's going on in the heads of these record companies. So the scandalous song shoots in at #5 this week, and deservingly becomes more successful than her previous "What's My Name" (peak #12). "S&M" is the 13th top 10 single of the singer in Germany. Video Further down the top 10, Jennifer Lopez advances to #6 from #10 and if "On the Floor" doesn't move further up, it would be her third single to peak at #6 in the country. Video In the top 20, new peaks for Usher's "More" at #14 and Die Atzen/Nena's "Strobo Pop" at #15, while Caro Emerald's "A Night Like This" is gaining pace and reaches #24. Before Caro, however, we have a third new entry at #18. With only a promo video until yesterday, "E.T." is the fourth single of Katy Perry's latest album and despite for now her least successful, expect it to soar in the upper reaches of the countdown as the song promotion gets a boost. The track is so good that it has to be among her best ones in chart terms. Video New peaks to be observed also at #29 by Beth Ditto's "I Wrote The Book" and at #31 by Bullmeister's "Girls Beautiful". And the remaining new entries with videos: 41 Jessie J - Do It Like A Dude - As it is often the case, to be extremely successful in UK doesn't translate directly in a success abroad. Still, follow-up "Price Tag" may have better chances... Video 43 Medina - Gutter Video 46 Guano Apes - Oh What A Night - Despite not so successful, it is always good to see the great German band back in the top 50. Video 57 Alexis Jordan - Happiness Video 58 Plastik Funk - Everybody Dance Now! Video 82 Andrea Renzullo - Heal - Andrea ranked fourth at the last year Supetalent casting, where his take on "Run" of Leona Lewis triggered the enormous interest in the song observed towards the end of 2010. Video 94 RLP And Barbara Tucker - R.E.S.P.E.C.T Video The Album Chart This week's LP chart is flooded by seven new entries in the top 20. The highlights are once again set on Herbert Grönemeyer, whose 13th album "Schiffsverkehr" goes straight at #1. The German legend now has a total of 69! weeks atop of the LP charts and it's certain that this number will go up in the next weeks. Since his fifth album in 1984, Grönemeyer has never missed the number one slot - that's quite a record to be jealous of. Another German veteran, Udo Jürgens, brings his latest album "Der ganz normale Wahnsinn" at #3, while Green Day's live compilation "Awesome As F**k" is at #5. New entries also for Joe Bonamassa's "Dust Bowl" at #10, Die Atzen's "Party Chaos" at #14, The Strokes' "Angles" at #15 and Avantasia's live LP "The Flying Opera - Around The World in 20 Days" at #18. 24. German chart comments - Issue date - 11.03.2011 (Chris Brown - the RiRi days are over and we can't get enough of BEP) Though Lady Gaga tried two weeks ago to replace him at the top, Bruno Mars' reign over the German chart continues this week. And for the time being it seems that no-one is gonna remove "Grenade" from the number one soon. Adele moves up one to #2, while Taio Cruz' collaboration with Kylie Minogue (far better than the Travie McCoy version) enters the top three for the first time this week. Further down the chart Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" wins back a position and moves up to #5, while Sunrise Avenue's "Hollywood Hills" continues its ascend and this week enters the top 10 at #6. The highest new entry comes in at #8 belonging to Chris Brown. The notorious star has been in the top 10 only once with his debut single "Run It" (peak #5) from 2005. Of course "Yeah 3X" marks a new era for him and not surprising the single, with its good (European) dance flavour, shoots in straight at #8. Surprisingly, the single has not managed yet to enter the US top ten...Last Chris Brown was in the German top 100 with "Forever" which reached #20. Video A position behind Rihanna's best friend enters the latest single (and actually the second one from their latest album) of Black Eyed Peas. "The Time" already has been massive in Germany, while its follow-up "Just Can't Get Enough" duly becomes the tenth single of Fergie and co. which enters the top 10 in Germany. It is also an another example of the rising and still irritating trend to release singles well ahead of their videos, which is bad... Video The latest news for Roxette is far from bad though. The Swedish legends finally return to the top 10 in Germany as "She's Got Nothing On (But The Radio)" moves two to #10. It is the first single of Roxette to reach a position as high as this after "How Do You Do!" was number two 19 years ago... Video The next new entry sees the comeback of Avril Lavigne in the charts. After "What The Hell" more or less flopped around the world, it was never to be expected it would do bigger things in Germany. Still by entering at #21, it is by two positions more successful than the latest single of Britney Spears, which this week goes down to #29 from #23. Avril has three top 10 hits in Germany on her account. Video A curious new entry at #25 where schlager singers Ute Freudenberg and Christian Lais bring their Berlin hymn "Auf Den Dächern Von Berlin". However, don't let the schlager title stop you to check it out - it is a good pop song. Video Yet another curious new entry can be found at #31. "Snowflakes" is the debut single of US synthie pop group White Apple Tree, for which the English version of Wikipedia has never heard of. And of course, the song has no video but it features in the soundtrack of German blockbuster "Kokowääh" which most of you know was responsible for the success of Hurts' "Stay" (this week at #4). Video And the remaining new entries with videos: 45 Rockstroh - Wolke 7 Video 59 Eliza Doolittle - Pack Up - yes, the fact it was huge in UK last year did not help in Germany. Video 63 Wir Sind Helden - Alles Auf Anfang - a surprisingly catchy song Video 72 The Black Pony - Scars And Bruises Video 81 Bläck Fööss - Mir Han E Hätz Für Kölle - blame the carnivals Video 92 Räuber - Wunderbar (Der Hochzeitswalzer) - see above Video Video links active here: http://yantk.blogspot.com/2011/03/german-c...ue-date_12.html
  25. German chart comments - Issue date - 04.03.2011 (Lena takes control, while Britney flops) It's an interesting week in the German charts, with Bruno Mars still standing at the summit, with his "Grenade" clocking a third week there in a row. The lights are however all on Lena, who manages to bring five new entries in the countdown. The hype of course comes after Germany's decision to once again push the singer as its representative to the Eurovision song contest. As we all know, it was Lena who last year won the contest with her "Satellite". I'm still not quite sure whether the strategy to back her again would be of any good. At least, the single to present Germany "Taken By A Stranger" shoots itself directly at #2 in the top 100. Other Lena's songs which were considered as Eurovision entries can be found at #15 ("Push forward"), #53 ("Maybe"), #55 ("A million and one") and #58 ("Mama told me"). All songs are included in Lena's second album "Good News" which returns to the summit of the LP chart this week. Video - Lena With Lena going at #2, it's Gaga who has to fall to #6 from #2. Her single now has a video, so its sales should stabilise. Video Proving once again why she is a superstar in Germany, Pink brings yet another single in the top 10. "f***ing Perfect" follows the #5 peak of "Raise Your Glass" and enters this week at #7. The formula is once again the same as Pink retells another underdog story, which obviously is loved by music fans around the world... Video In the top 20 it's great to see Sunrise Avenue rising seven to #11 with "Hollywood Hills" and also Roxette finding a new generation for their music as "She´s got nothing on (But the radio)" sticks to #12. A lot of lessons should be learned by the music industry on how it managed to make Britney Spears's comeback single "Hold It Against Me" flop in Germany. Yes, the song is still in the top 30, by coming in at #23, but is the third least successful single of the superstar in Germany so far. So what went wrong? First, the song was released in UK and USA weeks ago, and in the era of Internet who has expected that Germans would wait passionately for the official release? And second, the video was released too late... Just watch UK, the song was going out of the top 40 when the video (which is expensive, I'm sure) hit the TVs and Internet. What was the point of all that? Video Further down the chart, backed by the enormous support of VIVA, The Naked And Famous have their first hit in the country as "Young Blood" enters new at #30. All who watch the music channel (which is an overstatement as now you can only watch soaps, cartoons and reality $h!t on it) should know that as of January 1, the song is used for VIVA's new programme spots/advertising blocks. Video And the remaining new entries with videos: #33 Caro Emerald - A night like this (first top 40 single for Caro Emerald, after previous "Break It Up" peaked at #70) Video #45 Depeche Mode - Dreaming of me (the song re-release is a celebration to the band's first new entry 30 years ago) Video #46 R.E.M. - Oh my heart (believe or not, but one of the greatest bands ever has only one top 10 single in Germany with "Shiny Happy People" reaching #10) Video #56 Robyn - Indestructible (never being popular in Germany, the Swedish star biggest hit here is "With Every Heartbeat", which peaked at #39) Video #70 Darius & Finlay feat. Nicco - Till morning (a great dance track from the Austrian producers) Video #81 In Extremo - Zigeunerskat Video Video links active here : http://yantk.blogspot.com/2011/03/german-c...issue-date.html
