I have recently been checking out old charts via the website Chartstats (undefined. And decided to take a look at what song was the most successful in terms of chart position throughout the whole year. To do this, I all 52 charts of the year. and for each one, I awarded points based on the positions. 1pt was awarded for a week at #75, 2pts for a week at #74, and so on, upto the full 75pts for getting to #1. Now obviously, there are going to be songs directly disadvantaged by this, due to their chart run either starting at the back end of 1998, or finishing at the start of 2000. Obviously there is nothing I can do about that. I will eventually get charts up for other years. I am thinking of going backwards through the 90's. It takes about a week to do the whole year. I use excel so it's not as time consuming as it can be. I plan to reveal one-by-one every song inside the top 250. There were a total of 970 songs which charted inside the top 75 in 1999. Now revealing them all one-by-one would be time consuming, and as quite a lot would have only spent 1 week inside the chart, quite pointless. But before I get on to the top 250, I will give a quick rundown of all the songs 251-970. If anyone wants to comment throughout this feel free to do so. It is being put up for you to observe and comment on, and it would be very much appreciated. But thats enough talk, the first bunch of songs are coming up shortly.

Hi everyone. My laptop still has not been fixed. Think I may need a new battery but has the laptop is quite old I don't know if I will still be able to get one. Anyway, I have had decided to carry this on. I don't have access to the top 100 of each week but do for the top 75 as they are posted here each week. So I will quickly re-do my charts including songs inside the top 75 each week. This will probably be a fairer indication as the top 75 in what most sites use anyway. After todays chart is revealed I will begin the new countdown. Sorry about this, but I wanted to continue the countdown without much disruption.
