United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2017
I think a "professional" jury stake is a good move. BBC2 is more viewers... But it's also more likely votes for the token "trashy' song (if there is one, which wouldn't surprise me) as casual viewers will stumble on it off the cuff. I genuinely think there will be at least one familiar face there. I'm amazed the rumour mill has barely moved up to now...

Novelty only works when you have a "charm", which rarely features. Scooch most certainly did NOT have it. The 50/50 jury split ha, I think, upped the quality and I'm glad to see the back of novelty entries (or mostly anyway).

United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2017
I'd doubt the BBC would upgrade to a much larger venue without at least one familiar face? Not that I'm suggesting a well know face = a decent tune, but an all round better round up of tunes and general spectacle is surely a reasonable expectation? I'm not going to Kiev next year (I'm getting hitched!), but I think a weekend trip to London instead may soften that blow...

Oh god... I've sprayed my pants. This partially makes up for Brexit, Trump and generally all shitstorms of 2016.

Has 2016 been the worst year for UK top 40 in its existence
Since streaming has contributed to the charts, I've stopped following. The charts are to reflect what's popular but I no longer feel it does its job sufficiently. The bulk of people using Spotify are just playing a ready made playlist, not cherry picking. Hence why the charts work on a snail pace. Makes me wonder how NOW! still manage to rustle up three compilations a year. Quality wise, the tunes are still there, just not necessarily in the charts. This whole half-arsed tropical house/pop sound is nauseating. But, we're still a long way off from the horror of 2008. :puke2:

2016 US Election.
These polls are usually accurate however they sometimes struggle to accurately capture the more conservative/right wing votes as some people feel ashamed to admit. A left wing vote is more idealistic and thus carries less stigma. It's unfortunate that the pool of "shy republican votes" was large enough to go under the poll radar and slyly find its way through to the ballot paper this creating a shock result. Very similar to Brexit.

2016 US Election.
I felt very disappointed with Brexit but that completely pales in comparison to this. I couldn't hold food down all morning, the sickly feeling in my stomach was too much. I drove to work in a daze, bemused, trying to make sense of HOW exactly so many people feel they have nothing left but to vote against a candidate who was still likely to be reliable and keep the US economy steady. This article however does go some way is making sense of this f***ery, it's made me feel a tad better about the whole shitstorm. https://socialistworker.co.uk/art/43681/We+...r+do+the+bosses

2016 US Election.
I've been reading posts closely over the past couple of weeks. A bit finger in the air, but I reckon Clinton will sail through. I think she'll command a 53% over Trumps 45% (that leaves 2% for the remainder). I think there is small wave of uncounted hispanics that will sway this. I also think she'll get Florida but I think there will be a random swing state she will unexpectedly lose (take a pick, not sure). I also have to remind myself on regular occurrences that this THING is in spitting distance of the white house. This is perhaps comprehendible in a tiny, chaotic state that has little to zero influence on world politics. But, no. It's the United States. Now watch me get this totally wrong...

2016 US Election.
Financial times show a 2.5% difference in the polls for Clinton including a marginal win in Florida, as of 21:00. these various polls by broadcasters are a way to keep people revisiting their websites to up the hits. Since when has there been a US election without fanfare? This one is more noticeable but for, sadly, the wrong reasons. I genuinely believe this is Clintons to lose.

2016 US Election.
In "political" terms, he is. But I agree with the sentiment. He's bulldozed his way through this campaign but, alas, is very likely to fall at the last crucial hurdle.

2016 US Election.
How ANYONE could chose an inexperience, narcissistic candidate over someone fully experienced and qualified is beyond me. I would put my cat in before a Trump. At least a cat would be assisted by moderate republicans so things would be so-so. Trump doesn't listen to anyone and having him getting access to nuclear weapons is a thought I don't want to entertain. I get voting for an under-dog. But not in this instance...

2016 US Election.
This election is very much Hillarys to lose. As it stands, the only way she will lose is by would-be Democratic voters not showing up on voting day and thus giving Trump the edge. The email situation is nasty. However, if this gets sorted and comes inconclusive again, it will help her campaign more so, IMO. I can't see him winning... But then we didn't see Brexit happening either.

They seem to be the only country that are consistently in my bottom (well, "Birds" was tolerable). I hope they break the pattern for 2017.

Theresa I think will be in for a short term before an upfront general election. Boris is odious.

Ireland · Eurovision Song Contest 2016
Absolute tosser. There wasn't a single redeeming thing about the whole package - weak song, poor vocals, absolutely no charisma. He should be grateful for the 31 points and shut the f*** up. One of the worse songs in the whole contest IMO.

Eurovision Song Contest 2016 · Odds
I don't know what's happened to Bulgaria either. I'm coming to the conclusion on the basis that she's fell by default due to a lot of past outsiders have gone up in the odds. Given so many semi final 2 entries have odds of over 300/1, in taking some comfort from that. This is easily my favourite entry this year too. A catchy, chart-ready track - surely the jury will reward it?!
