Marvin Gaye - Whats Going On Given it's Tony doing this, this will certainly get a mention.
  2. 2013 has been something of a renaissance for dance music IMO. I have been almost blown away by the sheer amount of fantastic dance tunes. Here are my favourites Disclosure - White Noise Disclosure - F For You Disclosure - Voices Storm Queen - Look Right Through Ben Pearce - What I Might Do Chris Malinchak - So Good To Me Calvin Harris - Thinking About You Haim - Falling (Duke Dumont Mix) Chase n Status - Count On Me Foxes - Youth (Seamus Haji Mix) Rudimental - Waiting All Night The worst (I know this might not be popular) Avicii - Wake Me Up (absolutely grated on me, never liked it) Sebastian Ingrosso - Reload (would be far better without the obnoxious vocal from John Martin)

For me, 1992 is THE YEAR. I was 8, starting listening to the UK top 40 RELIGIOUSLY and would be devastated if I missed it!!! 1992 is considered a piss poor year for music but for me it;s one of the best, having no major theme meant the gates were wide open for virtually anything to be a hit. I mean, Jimmy Nail? That aside, dance music was of course massive and I believe it shaped my taste in music for good, I LOVE dance music so there you go. By the way I'm enjoying this run down, I like a lot of these and of course the dance tracks.
  4. I really like it, very much like Todd Terrys mix of EBTG "Missing"

Sorry to digress... anyone have an idea when the tickets will be on sale? They were put on this time last year for Malmo, but not even an alert to say when the tickets will go on sale!
  6. I cannot believe NO ONE has mentioned The Waitresses "Xmas Wrapping". Such a great xmas song, not overplayed but also familiar enough to joe public. No bugger knows it when I mention said name of song though. It's upbeat and positive but without the over-egging and eager-to-please vibe that nearly all over xmas songs contain. You could say it's the perfect xmas song?!
  7. The exact opposite to me. People are buying this PURELY on the merit of the track - NOT the celeb status of said popstar. ;)

The last NOW! album I bought was... wait for it... 38!!! This is the first time I've seen a now album where I know and like a lot of them, almost to the point I'd buy it (I won't). ! Never thought I'd say that ever again! So many great dance tunes, Ben Pearce, Storm Queen, Calvin Harris, Chase and Status... WOW!

Number One... right after Storm Queen (here's hoping!)
  10. OK after hammering the repeat button, I'm bloody loving this now! I think number one is very likely... It's like "Don't You Worry Child" but, like, good.

The first ever vinyl I bought with my own pocket money was Sybil "When Im Good N Ready" back in 1993. I was only 9 and it got played to absolute death! Then from 97 to around 05 I bought about 500 12" inch records. Although I agree there is something lovely about vinyl, I don't buy into the argument that vinyl sounds better than CD. The track(s) that is towards the centre of the vinyl usually sounds terrible (like it's been recorded off a badly tuned radio signal) and they are bloody huge, not practical when you live in a flat!

It's a great track however it's the Seamus Haji mix i've been playing. I'm no expert these days, but these ears of mine are suggesting a comfortable top 20 hit. I'm more interested in an actual career? I know that may depend on how well this does, but she's entering a VERY crowded market.
  13. Considering the calibre of acts on board, I'm a little underwhelmed. Might give it a couple more listens... I love Calvin and Hurts though!
  14. While for me it doesn't even touch Storm Queen, it's certainly not a bad dance tune.
  15. This sounds VERY typical of the house tracks of 93/94 and I'm just about old enough to remember them the first time around! Hearing this and realising its chart potential is both brilliant and bizarre at the same time. Also so great to see proper decent british dance music breaking the charts.
  16. I've never liked the Mercury Prize. Get 10 radically different albums and pick the best...WHAT??? P.S. Disclosure to win!

Well the flights and hotel are booked however we have decided again next year to watch the Friday night show and see the live final in Copenhagen square on the night - the atmosphere was truly unbelievable! And the tickets on Friday night will be a fraction of the price...
  18. I don't care as long as Lynda Woodruff returns!
  19. I was there... I think I slipped out the get a drink! The song is loud and in your face.... but IMO, it's brash and odious. Aside from "Light Years" itself, the entire Light Years album is mostly woeful.
  20. It's no great shakes IMO, not a bad song, but sounds waaay too much like the sort of song Cher would've released at the time. :puke2:
  21. It's a bloody shocking song, how you can defend it is beyond me! Robbie Williams has a go at songwriting... forget it Robbie.. FORGET IT!!! Defo got a zero from me.
  22. 0.0 | Spinning Around 5.0 | On A Night Like This -01 | Kids (with Robbie Williams) (never mind a point, I wouldn't piss on that twat if he was on fire! - the worse song of her entire career!) 1.0 | Please Stay (yes it's fair to say in my humble opinion, the "Light Years" era is her worse by a long chalk! Luckily things improved...eventually!) 0.0 | Your Disco Needs You 3.0 | Can't Get You Out of My Head 7.5 | In Your Eyes 7.0 | Love At First Sight 6.5 | Come into My World 8.0 | Slow 5.0 | Red Blooded Woman 5.5 | Chocolate 7.5 | I Believe in You 6.5 | Giving You Up 6.0 | 2 Hearts 7.0 | Wow 9.5 | In My Arms 2.5 | All I See 9.5 | The One 2.0 | Lhuna (with Coldplay) 2.5 | Higher (Taio Cruz feat. Surprised myself how little I rate above average.

  24. Totally agree with all of this. I wish 2008 could somehow be erased from my memory!
