  1. Is it just me then that thinks Semi 2 is a LOT better than Semi 1. Norway and Ukraine are my 2nd and 3rd faves, so it's a no brainer which Semi I'm looking forward to more. Though I do think Ukraine need to pull a belter of a performance to ensure at least a place in the final. It doesn't seem to be well received which is a shame...
  2. I always wonder how Westlife do arena tours... all their songs sound exactly the same, god knows how they can distinguish one song to the next! It's pretty disturbing how many songs they have racked up!
  3. I love a bit of DC... but "Survivor" is a stinker of a song. One of the most annoying and chaotic things I've ever heard. Infact, I didn't think they were much cop once they dropped down to a 3 piece. "The Writings On the Wall" remains a great album though!
  4. I am VERY VERY pleased with the winner!!! I had Ukraine 2008 as my 15 pointer, but I could've easily swapped with my 18 pointer (who was Eric Sade). I don't dislike Leaa 2010 by any means (I gave it a few points), but it's no winner.
  5. Would like to watch this as it unfolds but off to my neighbours for dinner... look forward to watching it later though!
  6. This, along with En Vogues relatively brief back cat, capture the style of RnB I worship in droves. That chunky 90s-style RnB, together with those knockout vocals, are fab!
  7. Now, I like a bit of Girls Aloud (who doesn't??!) but this is one of THE worse cover versions ever. Sounds like it was done through lunch along with their equally as bad cover of Tiffany. Yuck! :puke2:
  8. My beef with All Saints was they thought they were the absolute dogs bollocks. IMO, they were little more than a well-packaged girl group with supposedly an "edge". Though I will hold my hands up and say "Pure Shores" was a blindin track (thanks mainly due to Williams Orbits lush production). Their pathetic "comeback" in 2006-ish stunk. They thought they could just comeback with minimal promotion... their arrogance sure blew up in their face eh?! :P
  9. "The Writings On The Wall" is one hell of an album, but "Bills Bills Bills" is barely nothing more than a load of moaning over a limp/half-arsed production. Even at the time is was "meh". Luckily the follow up singles would blow this right out of the water!
  10. Dane Bowers used to make me go weak... embarrassing thought now in 2012!
  11. Fair enough (though I loved it at the time and still do) though a song like this could go as far as number 2 would very briefly restore your faith in the buying public. That aside, very typical of the uppety dance music if this era (see iio and DB Boulevard).
  12. I struggled with Semi 1 - in that there was a lot of tat that I even had to start giving points to towards the end! Semi 2 is a better round, manage to give points to songs I thought were all at least tolerable!
  13. ScottyEm posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Agreed. This can be easily regarded as a classic.
  14. I was only fussed about Albania 2009 and she got through! Yippee!
  15. Yep, it is - and especially given Eurovision standards, disturbingly good! I have high hopes for a win for Sweden this year, but my gut feeling says it will be very close to the wire with Spain.
  16. For me, 2002 was horrible year. Dance music was on its arse (only toy-town trance would trouble the charts) and to add insult to injury... I had to endure shite like P!NK! Another song I hated at the time. :puke2:
  17. I'm probably on my own here, but I hate this song almost as much as the woman herself. Vile!
  18. I've voted, but it was a bit like ranking a set of dog turds in order of which I'd most not like to put my foot in!
  19. Here is mine. I don't like many so I'll only bother ranking those that I like or don't mind too much... 01 Sweden Some light years later 02 Norway 03 Ukraine And a few miles more 04 Cyprus 05 Bulgaria 06 Italy 07 Russia (sorry) 08 Greece 09 Hungary 10 Romania 11 Lithuania 12 Spain That's pretty much it
  20. I gather it's only me who thought Norway's entry was a load of tosh then?
  21. See you there! By the way we're gonna in appropriate attire - that's a tight red vest, high-riding faded jeans, Reebok classics and backward facing cap. So if you spot this spectacle - it's me!
  22. I'll be honest, I really can't stand Steps either. I'll have to ride the rough with the smooth.
  23. Well I've just booked my tickets... have you?
  24. I'm going too! It's a 9am on ticketmaster jobby!
  25. So.... Sweden - The unofficial winner of this Eurovision no doubt! Pure Scandi-style power pop! But was it those hammy lyrics that cost Saade the elusive first place?? UK - A confident and credible-ish entry earned us a place on the left side of the score board. Shitted on a great height by the 'panal', it deserved a better position even though I hate boybands! Hungary - A retro-tinged belter, considered a contender but completely bombed Estonia - See above. Great verse and build up and then.... are you shitting me?? Germany - I thought this was a blinder and far better Lena's entry in the previous year. Probably not an opinion other share, but I thought this was sooo seductive. Azerbaijan - I cannot abide limp MOR pop especially when sung by below average singers and bizarrely walks away with first prize. Still remains a proper head scratcher for me. Slovenia - Not my thing, but I consider this under-rated.
