  1. No hyperbole intended, but, is this even qualifying? All drama and no song. I hate it. In my bottom you go* *41st place ;)
  2. Very happy with the outcome. Too Late For Love winning by an empathic margin perhaps highlights how piss poor MF was this year, but still, great stuff and jury cat nip come May. Not sure if it’s impactful enough to get the televote?
  3. Bring on that 23rd place finish
  4. I’ve forgotten how terrible this is.
  5. Wow. Netherlands in not-sending-something-that-is-utter-toilet shocker.! It’s nice, well produced but not very catchy.
  6. The EBU must be very nervous at how unbelievably shite 2019 is fast becoming.
  7. This is hideous! Why is Eurovision revisiting the bad old days of the mid 00s?
  8. I don’t believe casual viewers are thinking rationally enough to avoid Sweden for sending the same idea (are they even sending the same idea?). They will just vote for the song they like/connect to the most. Dance You Off tanked because there was no connection, it was too aloof and looked like a music promo. I can’t see Too Late For Love not walking this. Juries will eat this slick, gospel pop track. I’d even suggest this will win the jury vote in May, especially given 2019 is shaping up to be quite the shower of shite.
  9. I’d suggest this will be a 5th DNQ? Juries will almost certainly loathe it. Televoters will probably need to dump this in the top 3 for this to squeak over the line. I applaud Iceland for selecting some industrial S&M (I’ve just invented a new micro genre), but the WTF factor quickly turns into awkward and I want to turn the bloody thing off.
  10. Denmark’s place as my 43rd favourite Eurovision country remains intact for another year then. Utterly, utterly woeful.
  11. This dark banger is very necessary and it’s infuriating to see there’s a chance we could still end up with Electro Velvet mark 2.
  12. 21 songs in and I’ve liked ONE song - Lovers Of Valdoro. Slovenia had two absolute gems fighting for the prize, by contrast. MelFest has Managed to be a shitload worse than last year. The songs sound like they’ve been cobbled together in minutes.
  13. It’s not terrible, which tbh is the best I can ask for from Romania.
  14. Twice on the bounce this puny Balkan country is gonna send the token “underground” entry. This is sublime. They need to create a connection for this to translate, but this is indeed pretty special and could well cut through the noise in May. And, for the record, Ljubljana is a beautiful city and I recommend anyone to pay a visit!
  15. I was in the studio for it too. BBC did good with their limitations, Mel and Mans work well together. I think we can find ourselves 15th-18th in Tel Aviv, thanks to juries identifying he at least has a knock out vocal and hopefully will connect on the night. The song is bloody rubbish though. Uninspired, pyro by-numbers fodder.
  16. ‘Light On’ is extremely drab. So it’s at least inkeeping with most Lithuanian entries.
  17. Weird thing with iItaky and they’re rather “yeah whatever” approach to Eurovision. They are the least enthusiastic nation at this but they are statistically the most successful out of the big five.
  18. Agreed. The first Italian entry I can get behind since 2012.
  19. Bottom 3 in the semi for Montenegro again then...
  20. I’m inclined to agree.
  21. “You Are The Only One” was very average IMO and so dated, very much in-keeping with Russian entries.
  22. Juries will respond to his strong vocals on the night but the song is ultimately useless. I was there at Media City last night and it was a done deal but even I was surprised how boring it was on TV. And boring is a sure fire way to get 26th in the televote.
  23. I’m ELATED. That’s how you reverse your trend, right out of the box with a thudding pop-op banger. Needs touching up a little, stage-wise, but otherwise great. I thought Shepard was mediocre in studio form and quite amateur live. I don’t think it would’ve done great in Tel aviv tbh.
