  1. Tub Thumping by Chumba Wumba Hedonism by Skunk Anansie The Ketchup Song - Los Ketchup The Fast Food Song - Fast Food Rockers Amnesia - Chumba Wumba (Not totally sure about this one) New York Mining Disaster - Bee Gees
  2. Adele will have a couple of big days sales, but is certain to tail off by Saturday, whereas Jesse J will remain about the same and Lady GaGa will get a boost from the Grammys which were broadcast tonight. I predict on Sunday 1. Lady Gaga (100k) 2. Jesse J (90k) 3. Adele (85k)
  3. There appears to be a typo. Wiley's song is Never be Your Woman. The original version of Number One Enemy is by Daisy Dares You; I am not aware of any fake versions.
  4. The IPL is being broadcast live on YouTube. Don't know if one has to pay though.
  5. I thought it was Where is Captain Kirk by Spizzenergi
  6. Didn't like it at all I'm afraid. Too many singers singing one line each just made it sound disjointed and a total mess. Agree that they could have halved the number of artists and had them singing a verse or chorus each. Can see it being number 1 for just 2 weeks.
  7. The physical has only 7 tracks, although the American version has 1 bonus track and the Canadian version has 2 bonus tracks. I guess the I Tunes version includes Common Denominator.
  8. My daughter managed to see Justin Bieber today, and believe me, there were around 2,000 screaming teenage girls there going crazy about him. This is probably why his tracks were downloaded enough to get to the lower end of the I Tunes chart. I don't think he is making any other personal appearances so I would expect those tracks to start dropping down in a couple of days. The album is a 2 parter with the second half being released in America in March. Part 1 only has 7 tracks on it and only lasts 26 minutes which is probably why it is only £4.99 on I Tunes and £5.80 in Tescos.
  9. It didn't go straight in at number 1. It re-entered at number 28 on the chart announced on June 1st 2008.

In the last update, RATM seem to have gained a little ground on The Climb, but when most the people who download The Climb are out of school, it will pull away again I think. I agree with the principal of RATM, but I think there were better songs which could have been released. It couldn't be by any artist who is likely to be invited to appear on the X Factor, but 2 suggestions of Christmas songs are Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses which despite being very well known, only reached number 41 in 1981, and Christmas Time by The Darkness which narrowly lost the last true race for Christmas number 1 in 2003. If they had to go for a non Christmas song, preferably in the rock genre, what about Afterlife by Avenged Sevenfold. Despite failing to reach the top 150 when released last year, it is a brilliant rock song.

Is that latest update correct? Can't believe Peter Kay has fallen from 11 to 14. I would have thought it would be number 3 or 4 by now.

BEP's had a huge lead on Friday's mids so I think it is a racing certainty that they will go back to number 1.

Jules Rimet was a person. He was president of FIFA when the first World Cup was contested, and as he was the brainchild behind it, the trophy was named after him.
  14. Because it featured on Big Brother tonight. (Seriously)
  15. I actually thought the sales should have been 20,900, not 2,900 for Mr Hudson last Tuesday. Regarding the current chart, JB had no sales on Sunday and only reached the top 10 on Monday with no physical release or other versions of the track being available. Number 30 sounds right to me and I would expect the popularity to fall away by the end of the week resulting in a position of around 15 to 20.
  16. Candle in the Wind was actually released on the Saturday after Diana's funeral. I remember searching all over for a copy and not being able to buy it until Monday. Back to the original question, wasn't Mercy quite low down on the first set of mids?

Apart from the Cheeky Song, the Cheeky Girls had 4 other top 40 hits. Take your shoes off - No 3 2003 Hooray, Hooray! (It's a Cheeky Holiday) - No 3 2003 Have a Cheeky Christmas - No 10 2003 Cheeky Flamenco - No 29 2004 I think the Cheeky Girls are the only act to fail in the first audition and have a top 40 hit.

Does Escala with Palladino count? It just crept into the top 40 for 1 week and they were finalists in the 2nd edition of BGT.

Jessica actually finished 9th in the first Pop Idol and actually represted the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest with that song. Also didn't the Cheeky girls have a couple of other hits including Hooray, Hooray its a Cheeky Holiday or something like that. I also vaguely remember Chico entering the top 40 for 1 week with D I S C O.

I just checked last week's thread and Beat Again got to number 2 at around midday and got to number 1 at 1pm.
  21. Based on the popularity bars, I reckon JLS will sell 120-130k copies this week. By Tuesday, I think they will be on 35-40k so You won't have to put your head in an oven, Martin ( although the gas isn't poisonous these days)!
  22. I think the Arctics will be number 1 by the end of the day. If people download it at the current rate they will have a massive lead on I Tunes by tomorrow evening when their early sales stop counting. Surprised at the way Chipmunk seemed to get to number 6 quickly and has stalled. Will end up number 7 or 8 on Sunday I think.
  23. Have to agree with the above poster. I am sure Cascada would have preferred to have released Evacuate the Dancefloor so it didn't compete with Michael Jackson. My family love MJ's music and have been watching one of his video collections and some of the documentaries. Would have been nice to see an MJ song at number 1, but looks like it won't happen this week. Evacuate the Dancefloor is an excellent pop song and if it makes it, will be a worthy number 1. I do feel sorry for Cascada, especially Natalie, as this may be their only chance to have a number 1, and in some people's eyes it will be thought of as the song which prevented MJ having a posthumous number 1.
  24. I now think it will be very close between Cascada and The Man in the Mirror. Evacuate the Dancefloor is a very catchy tune and I think would be a worthy number one if it makes it. Even if MJ doesn't make number one on the singles chart, its still a brilliant week sales wise for his music, he has the number 1 album, is number 1 in the big 40 and will probably have 3 of the top 4 albums this week plus number 1 or 2 in the singles chart. Lots of younger people are getting the chance to hear some great music they may not have heard before. I think it is very wrong to criticise people for downloading a song they happen to like. Everyone's tastes are different and we should all respect that.
  25. Bulletproof is catching up with The Man in the Mirror and Cascada is catching up both of them. I predict in the next couple of days we will have Cascada at number 1, La Roux at number 2 and MITM at number 3.
