Sounds reasonable to me that.

So you'll lose a friendship because of that? :( Can't you accept that he/she has their own opinion.

Rumours that Wimbledon may be played behind closed doors but some players would rather it's cancelled again. They simply don't want to play when there's no crowd. Don't see why not. Most of their practice is like that.

I think I read somewhere that it's to be this year or skip this one until 2024. I don't think they can delay it to 2022 for some reason or other. Too near to the next scheduled one.

According to today's Mail, the Japanese Government has decided privately that the Olympics "can't possibly go ahead" and an official announcement is expected from the IOC soon. Also from The Mail Online: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-91...t-survival.html "Hospitality chiefs issued a dire warning about the future of many businesses last night after doctors advised that the reopening of pubs and restaurants should be pushed back to May. Industry leaders said that just one in five restaurants, pubs and bars had enough cash to get through beyond March. 3.2 million could lose their jobs" Very bleak news indeed isn't it? Costing the hospitality industry half a billion pounds for every month we're in lockdown.

BTW did anybody else see Bill Clinton nodding off yesterday during Joe's speech. ? He managed to get 40 winks but the TV cameras picked it up and it went viral.

I don't know. He's got no work now though as a black cabbie as no-one is about to want a taxi so maybe it's that too.

No I don't honestly think it was stolen now. I have accepted reality and moved on. I can't speak for my neighbour though, who I know truly believes it was stolen by the Democrats. I know it doesn't affect him here, but he says it's the injustice that's eating him up inside. Bit over the top for someone who's not American. He's Irish actually.

He didn't watch yesterday because of Biden being inaugurated. Trump losing has really affected him it seems. :( I watched it as I always watch them.

He didn't go because he honestly and truly believes the election was stolen from him. Would you have gone if you truly believed that and thought Biden shouldn't have been sworn in? I wouldn't have either. People have principles. I know a man along our street, a black cabbie, who's wife says was in tears yesterday and couldn't bear to watch any news. He firmly believes it was stolen too.

Apparently Trump told daughter Ivanka that if she dared to attend the inauguration he'd cut her, Jared and all their 5 children out of his will and they'd get nothing when he dies. She's had some money but stands to get a lot more. He pointed out that families, "the blood" stick together. She knew he meant it they were saying today on Sky News. I agree with him, family loyalty must always come first. She'd have stuck out like a sore thumb there.

Just listening to LBC and there seems to be confusion about the number of people allowed at parties. So they've clarified it. No parties allowed but UP TO 15 the fine stays at £200 and over 15 it's now £800. People were thinking they could have 14 people and no get fined. :o

Ch.4 news says MP's will petition the Cabinet and PM for restrictions to start being lifted on 8th March for the sake of business but an expert on there saying if they lift then we'll just be back in a lockdown in April or May.

That makes sense actually. Hospitality and pubs all may be closed until May. That's a long time and can see some more pubs and cafes and restaurants going to the wall. They say there'll be huge pressure to open up long before then.

Well could be small gatherings of a few people she said and there's evidence that is going on. She doesn't just mean 15, 20, 60 people. Quadrupling the fine should be a deterrent they think. Rachel's three friends want to risk it and visit us but have told them they can't. It's against the law and I can't afford a fine. Does the householder get one too.? I mean how can you be blamed if someone comes to your house? Be rude and not let them in? :o

Agreed. To cancel when it's not until June seems early. May be gone by then.

Fines for EVERYONE attending house parties, big or small, to increase to £800 now for first offence. Priti Patel doing today's briefing is determined to clamp down on people meeting in homes. Additional fines for repeat offenders will be given out up to £6,400.

Totally agree. Probably just did that because he could to waste money. The only ones getting it now should be him and Melania, for life, unless she divorces him then hers ceases which I think is wrong as she could still be a target. She'd still be protected if he died so why not if they divorce? Also Barron until he's 16 and Pence and wife for 6 months although I read that Biden may increase that to much longer, even for life after all the threats he's had.

Brexit II: This Time It's Irreversible
From BBC News. A diplomatic row has broken out between the UK and EU over the status of the bloc's ambassador in London. The UK is refusing to give Joao Vale de Almeida the full diplomatic status that is granted to other ambassadors. The Foreign Office is insisting he and his officials should not have the privileges and immunities afforded to diplomats under the Vienna Convention. It is understood not to want to set a precedent by treating an international body in the same way as a nation state. As it stands, the ambassador would not have the chance to present his credentials to the Queen like other diplomatic heads of mission. The British decision is in marked contrast to 142 other countries around the world where the EU has delegations and where its ambassadors are all granted the same status as diplomats representing sovereign nations.

Trump's cost the US millions in his very final act by extending Secret Service protection by six months for ALL his children, their spouses and children, another 15 or so people. So Ivanka, Jared, their 5 kids, Tiffany and all the others will get it. Trump and Melania get it for life and Barron until he's 16.
