Votes are coming - had an absolute manic day for the last week of Term so they will be late.

Imagine Suella Braverman being your MP (and Mordaunt’s constituency being about 2 minutes away!) in this contest. I think it’ll come down to Sunak against one of Mordaunt or Truss with the non-Rishi candidate getting it by offering red meat to the Tory Members. In partisan terms I’d hope Penny doesn’t get it as I think she’s the only one who’s potentially dangerous due to being the only one in possession of any brains.

My votes will be in (albeit late)
  12. Let us (the mods) know if you want more rates of an entire country's output over the summer.
  13. Oooh I was thinking we should run something like this! 05 2003: 'Hasta la Vista' by Oleksandr 09 2004: 'Wild Dances' by Ruslana 04 2005: 'Razom nas bahato' by GreenJolly 08 2006: 'Show Me Your Love' by Tina Karol 10 2007: 'Dancing Lasha Tumbai' by Verka Serduchka 11 2008: 'Shady Lady' by Ani Lorak 08 2009: 'Be My Valentine! (Anti-Crisis Girl)' by Svetlana Loboda 03 2010: 'Sweet People' by Alyosha 06 2011: 'Angel' by Mika Newton 07 2012: 'Be My Guest' by Gaitana 10 2013: 'Gravity' by Zlata Ognevich 08 2014: 'Tick-Tock' by Mariya Yaremchuk 10 2016: '1944' by Jamala 04 2017: 'Time' by O.Torvald 07 2018: 'Under The Ladder' by Mélovin 11 2019: Siren Song by Maruv 04 2020: 'Solovey' by Go_A 10 2021: 'Shum' by Go_A 08 2022: 'Stefania' by Kalush Orchestra Ukraine truly are the queens of modern Eurovision. All three of their winners were deserved as would have Verka, Ani Lorak, Zlata or Go-A(2021) been as well!
  14. New Lexico's votes are in!

Be it as a backup or as the plan A, the OVO Hydro in Glasgow doesn't seem to have any events scheduled for May 2023...
  16. I don't know how you'd mathematically get this to work but I think I'd be in favour of altering the weighting of the public to jury to something like a 60% Public 40% Jury (as well as all of the other things mentioned in the thread so far). It's a difficult balance to strike since you need both to avoid the excesses of a 100% jury vote and 100% public vote system and as much as we protest against this being the narrative, certain countries will always have an inbuilt advantage on a televote system so you do need some kind of jury system in there to make it more of a level playing field. Is there some merit in the Sanremo/Benidorm Fest "demoscopic" jury to be put into the mix somewhere?
  17. Ukraine's televote consisted of 28 sets of 12 points (surely a record!) 8 sets of 10 points, 2 sets of 8 points and one 7 pointer from the out of step Serbia
  18. UK received televoting points from 34 out of the 39 countries in the final.
  19. So there's no detailed jury voting results in Semi 2 for Azerbaijan, Romania, San Marino, Montenegro, Georgia or Poland - that looks like the six "voting irregularities" countries
  20. Azerbaijan qualified from Semi 2 with 0 televote points!
  21. Can't really say fairer than that - must have got virtually everyone's 12 points! I reckon there's a decent chance the UK will be hosting next year though.
  22. Ukraine stay back you slags!
  23. Okay make it 5 each for Spain and Sweden and one a piece for Czech Republic and Netherlands
  24. So at the present time I’ve put in 2 votes each for Sweden and Spain. Possibly more to come…
  25. Sam Ryder smashed it! Whatever the result we should be proud of that in the UK!
