Already dropped the lore in the other thread re: New Lexico. In terms of where I got my previous contry names Allecian - ....no thoughts, head empty (see also: my choice of entries from BJSC 5 - 13) Scruvovnia - idk I was bored of Allecian and it sounded at least slightly more like the name of an actual country, giving defunt eastern european kingdom vibes

These BJSC children have never had to pre-draft a PM with the confirmation details to send it over train WiFi on a pre-refresh BuzzJack on an iPod touch in 2012! Still got NERVO - You're Gonna Love Again though (sorry Klum x)

Just spat my drink out at BJSC themed birthday cake! (please somebody find a photo) My stupid lore drop is that the idea for the country name "Lexico" was inspired by the running joke that several people both online and IRL mistakenly think I'm hispanic (including a kid I taught three years ago who legit asked me "are you Mexican?"). I also entered as Lexico for around 1-3 contests before I took a short break and used that as an excuse to rebrand to "New Lexico" which has stuck ever since.

Dare whoever the host is on the next Cor Lupus win to do this exact strategy!

I also remember a lot of drama over Tim getting vetoed over a "mod discretion" veto when like four people posted to let slip that they already knew what song it was but I think the veto got appealed/rescinded?

The sequel to the Pavel "twist" drama being that he got delt the same treatment when I won BuzzJack BigBrother (forever my lone popularity contest win on this forum). The single digit/early teen contests had the horrors of the "reservation thread". This was back in the days when it was very much a spinoff of the Eurovision forum and a lot of people were having 'national finals' where you could "reserve" about four songs per contest for your national final, only to not use three or, if you found something else, none of them in the actual contest.

So to summarise: That slag Rob steals my entry when he only found it the day of confirmations opening I get robbed of an AQ by the odd number of entries I get screwed by maybe the worst semi-final draw possible BJSC 179, get tae f***!

It's a working theory I suppose that it can be a good thing to have a smaller number of "your genre" voters in your semi as then you're more likely to get a concentrated set of votes from all of them rather than spread across 20 other entries. I say this on the basis of absolutely zero statistical evidence of course!
