  1. i agree. its cool that you spent as much time as you did making the list, and hopefully some people will get into some better music as a result, BUT... an indie list is NOT an indie list without bands like beat happening, galaxie 500, the raincoats, the clean, daniel johnston, beck (i'd pick something from one foot in the grave), the microphones, royal trux, ween (pure guava), happy mondays, jim o'rourke, (possibly) the raveonettes... there are easily a hundred more, but ANY one of those bands i mentioned are more important then 90% of your list. still cool that you made the list though. maybe some day ill work up the energy to do the same. also, and this is simply one music geeks semantic battle with another music geek, i appologise in advance, but... you compared nirvana, pearl jam, and soundgarden at one point... and stated that babes in toyland dont belong with them, but nirvana most definitely does not belong with pearl jam and soundgarden. those two "alt-rock" bands (??) are mistakenly coined as "grunge", which they are not. mudhoney is grunge, babe in toyland are grunge, bikini kill is grunge, nirvana WAS grunge (in their pre-pop glory days, bleach, incesticide)... anyways, thats up for debate i suppose, who really cares. all in all, isnt music just f***ing the best thing in the world! thanks for the list, it was entertaining to go through.
