Awful vocals, awful song (so dated and contrived). Although catchy, like the plague. Think it will struggle to make Top 5/10 - hope so anyway.

What a shame they didn't pick up any radio support. Seems it's OK to be a girlband but not a boyband. I'm sure I've read somewhere that their next single is better - so there might still be hope (if they get another chance).
  3. Not exactly popular on here is it? I don't think it's too bad actually, his voice sounds OK (nice tone but still a bit off here and there). Will be interesting to see how he copes live. The song's quite good, if very MOR and there are far too many strings. A safe choice I think. Almost definite for No. 1 with the x factor promotion and immediate download.
  4. The song's OK - quite catchy, but his voice is just so irritating. Would have thought it would get in the Top 40 though - so much for the power of Radio One's playlists.

This song is actually good and has the potential to be a fair sized hit IF they get radio airplay. There seems to be some discrimination amongst radio programmers (especially Radio One) against good looking British male singers or boybands. But if The Saturdays can get lots of radio play for their single I think Avenue should too - both songs are good, well produced pop.

I like the song - great production and good vocals from Will. It's a good song and a safe choice, hopefully there are more exciting tracks on the album. It is fairly MOR and a bit too similar in parts to other songs including 'Leave Right Now' and 'Chasing Pavements', I also think the song fizzles out a bit - it starts really well, but the chorus comes in too early and it doesn't go anywhere at the end. As for the charts, as others have said it depends on the competition, but I would think album easily Top 3, single somewhere around 4 or 5.

I'm confused - she's not with SonyBMG anymore is she? She's not listed on their website, and her official website doesn't appear to be the usual SonyBMG website - and yet her My Space etc says Major Label. I think it's very unlikely Simon Cowell would have her on x factor unless she's with one of the SonyBMG labels.
  8. It's a shame you didn't enjoy the concert Simon - I went to Cardiff and had a great time, Shayne looked and sounded great, the audience were very enthusiastic but not over-screamy! I would agree that there were probably one or two covers too many, although I can understand his reasons for including them, and yes the support acts weren't that great. There is a review of the concert you went to in the Manchester Evening News today. and one from The Sun Waits for Will Young fans to find any bad reviews.........
  9. Well that's your opininon as a Will Young fan of course! (Which you're perfectly entiled to have). You seem to have all the charm of your rather grumpy hero. Perhaps he just wants to keep the ballads to the minimum, and make the concert slightly more grittier, too many ballads on his first album, and "Until You" from the second is a bit soppy although very pretty, but yes he should have included "Damaged" although not my favourite from that album.
  10. Interesting chart - I wonder when/if there will be another million selling single? The last one was released in 2005 (I think), even a song that was number one for umpteen weeks "Umbrella" 'only' sold 563,000.
  11. I saw Shayne on his last tour and he was very, very good (much better than I expected if I'm honest) . It was a really entertaining show, he was vocally excellent, and had loads of on stage charisma, and he is actually a good dancer. I am going to Cardiff this time. As for that set list, not sure how genuine it is. Can't see why he would sing "Bleeding Love" - as it is a song surely best suited to a female voice ( as Jesse McCartney found out).

  19. Are you seriously suggesting you think Leona would be where she is now without Simon Cowell :o
  20. I think "Bleeding Love" is a great song sang very well by Leona, and I'm not surprised at it's success. You have to admire the sheer breathtaking efficiency of the whole PR campaign. But come on, Simon Cowell has been hatching this for years, and he has used everything at his disposal to make sure it has done so well in the US. With the huge financial input from Clive Davis's label and Simon Cowell's contacts, Perez Hilton, Oprah, etc, no way was it going to fail- lots of great songs don't do well in the US because they don't have this backing. I found an interesting article about Mike Batt in The Guardian in Aug 2006 concerning his plans to break Katie Melua in the US, this paragraph make interesting reading - it appears Cowell was hatching his masterplan then lol. http://arts.guardian.co.uk/filmandmusic/st...1841188,00.html

  25. Yes I'm not optimistic there will be another single. I think we can safely say that Syco didn't want him getting in the way of Leona's promotional efforts, and they didn't have the time or resources to release a third single off "Breathless". I think the only reason they let him appear on Denmark's x factor was because Leona was unavailable on Friday as she was doing her Sport's Relief appearance!
