I think they Are doing this in order to increase digital album sales and now most record labels will start using this way to promote their artists new albums....

Kylie signs with Roc Nation...
as much as i adore Kylie but i don't think.she will be recognized internationally if she's not known in the US, like it or not, the US rules international media, therefore success in the US means her international fanbase will triple.... she NEEDS to make it big in the US otherwise she's doomed... i don't know if she will.be accepted aa a 44 year old lady and get airplay in ageist America...

US iTunes Top 100 [JAN-JUL 2013]
up to 51 now... I can't believe Little Mix outperformed the Saturdays with zero promotion, except the fact that they're backed by Simon Cowell of course which makes all the difference..

Right Now and Nobodies Business are the 2 obvious single choices from Unapologetic, the rest is fillers.....

it's quite sad that Marina's How to Be a Heartbreaker wil NOT be her first 10 hit, it's by far her catchiest most instant song ever , ( not mentioning the sexy video with loads of hot guys )... but as many Buzzjackers said it's been held back too long without promotion therefore she couldn't create interest outside her fanbase....

i'm not a xenophobe and i`m neither British or American, i'm Lebanese living in Beirut but i'm just happy that UK artists are making an impact in the US since Uk artists were completly ignored by US radio for 15 years from 1993 till 2008 and I'm glad that some.UK artists are now getting recognition worldwide... besides i don't hate americans at all : my two sisters live in LA and have US passports...i.just happen to like UK music that's all...

Kylie - Quitting Music
Better than today should've been the 2nd single not the 3rd, it's Get outta my way which was pointless... Cupid Boy and Aphrodite should've been released as 3rd and 4th singles...

The End Of HMV
Laws should be enforced regarding any trade that happens in the UK whether physical stores or online shops.... foreign sites should also be banned from trading in the UK and any imported product should be taxed...
-
The End Of HMV
Yeah but Internet retails are not paying taxes therefore can sell at much lower prices which leads to more shops closing down and more people losing their jobs in favor of cheaper Internet retail... No one is gonna pay 30% more to buy a product at a store just to keep them alive because people want Cheaper... Same goes for the HMV/Amazon situation...Therefore laws are needed in order to force Internet retails to pay more taxes and help the shops stay alive...

US Billboard Hot 100 - 01/26/2013
hopefully Olly Murs, Conor Maynard and Macklemore's Same Love can reach the top 100 soon... I can't believe Brit Matt Redman has been in the Bubbling Under chart for 24 weeks !!! Must be a record...
-
The End Of HMV
I agree 100%... Soon enough Internet retail will lead to the closure of many high street shops and the loss of thousands of jobs across the UK and millions across the globe... New laws should be enforced in order to deal with this new trend or the economy is doomed...

The End Of HMV
Not everyone goes to London to see the London Eye, a lot of people go for shopping including music and DVD shopping.. The last time I was in London last September, I went to 3 HMV stores and a lot of the customers there were tourists...
-
The End Of HMV
Which businesses should have tax breaks then ???
-
The End Of HMV
It would because there are millions of tourists who flood to the UK each year and a large proportion of them including me and a lot of my friends go to HMV to buy the Cd's and DVD's which are not available physically in my country.... And I'm sure there is a large percentage of sales that comes from tourists...so I don't think amazon can fill that gap.... And contrary to what you're saying HMV does have a very large market, they have 28% of the market share which is definitely NOT a niche market for sure....
-
The End Of HMV
But did u ask yourself why did they charge that much?? Isn't it because they need to pay loads of wages and maintain 250 stores across the country while Amazon doesn't need to!! You're also saying the government shouldn't lower the taxes for the entertainment industry forgetting that it's one of the UK's main exports and that the UK is one of the leading cultural countries in the world....
-
The End Of HMV
The record labels finally woke up from their coma... I hope their efforts are fruitful and that HMV survives... The UK government should also wake up and help the UK entertainment industry and agree on some laws which exempts HMV from paying high taxes in order to help the entertainment industry, which is one of Britain's biggest exports....
-
The End Of HMV
u didn't need to come up such a lame insult while.my opinion was certainly NOT directed at you.... i didn't mean can't Replace as in won't replace, i meant it doesn't give you the same product quality!!!
-
The End Of HMV
i mean both, online retailers should be taxed more, and high street shops should be taxed less, in order to reach an equal taxation state for both....
-
The End Of HMV
because illegal downloads.can give u the same quality as a legal downloads while they.can't replace physical formats!!
-
The End Of HMV
i never said the government should raise online retail prices, but i mean they should support the high street shops by lowering taxes on some products and industries to keep them.going... otherwise it will.be an inevitable demise of the high street shops... taxes shouls be equally applied to both high street and online retailers without exception...
