US Billboard Hot 100 - 01/26/2013
hopefully Olly Murs, Conor Maynard and Macklemore's Same Love can reach the top 100 soon... I can't believe Brit Matt Redman has been in the Bubbling Under chart for 24 weeks !!! Must be a record...

The End Of HMV
I agree 100%... Soon enough Internet retail will lead to the closure of many high street shops and the loss of thousands of jobs across the UK and millions across the globe... New laws should be enforced in order to deal with this new trend or the economy is doomed...
-
The End Of HMV
Not everyone goes to London to see the London Eye, a lot of people go for shopping including music and DVD shopping.. The last time I was in London last September, I went to 3 HMV stores and a lot of the customers there were tourists...
-
The End Of HMV
Which businesses should have tax breaks then ???
-
The End Of HMV
It would because there are millions of tourists who flood to the UK each year and a large proportion of them including me and a lot of my friends go to HMV to buy the Cd's and DVD's which are not available physically in my country.... And I'm sure there is a large percentage of sales that comes from tourists...so I don't think amazon can fill that gap.... And contrary to what you're saying HMV does have a very large market, they have 28% of the market share which is definitely NOT a niche market for sure....
-
The End Of HMV
But did u ask yourself why did they charge that much?? Isn't it because they need to pay loads of wages and maintain 250 stores across the country while Amazon doesn't need to!! You're also saying the government shouldn't lower the taxes for the entertainment industry forgetting that it's one of the UK's main exports and that the UK is one of the leading cultural countries in the world....
-
The End Of HMV
The record labels finally woke up from their coma... I hope their efforts are fruitful and that HMV survives... The UK government should also wake up and help the UK entertainment industry and agree on some laws which exempts HMV from paying high taxes in order to help the entertainment industry, which is one of Britain's biggest exports....

The End Of HMV
u didn't need to come up such a lame insult while.my opinion was certainly NOT directed at you.... i didn't mean can't Replace as in won't replace, i meant it doesn't give you the same product quality!!!
-
The End Of HMV
i mean both, online retailers should be taxed more, and high street shops should be taxed less, in order to reach an equal taxation state for both....
-
The End Of HMV
because illegal downloads.can give u the same quality as a legal downloads while they.can't replace physical formats!!
-
The End Of HMV
i never said the government should raise online retail prices, but i mean they should support the high street shops by lowering taxes on some products and industries to keep them.going... otherwise it will.be an inevitable demise of the high street shops... taxes shouls be equally applied to both high street and online retailers without exception...
-
The End Of HMV
i never ignored other people's opinions, ur are only trying to prove that my theory is wrong while i can prove u it's right : statistics proved that there is 99 illegal downloads for each legal download (worldwide) and i'm sure the rate is almost as high in the UK, ok so single sales are at an all time high but i'm talking mainly about album downloads here ... they will never reach the same levels as CD sales and time will prove that... album.downloads are expensive given the quality of.the product u r getting (lower quality, no design...) while.CD albums are relatively cheap ... illegal downloads can make up for legal ones but they can't make up for physical.CD's...

The End Of HMV
then please give me a better one....

The End Of HMV
what does paranoia has to do with anything??? i was just making a point really... sorry for having an opinion.
-
The End Of HMV
it's because most singles can be purchased for 0.99 while albums are at 7.99 as average so most people would pay 99.p but they wouldn't bother paying 7.99 for a download album that they can get for free online....
-
The End Of HMV
it can be somewhat stopped if the government actually gave it some thought by forcing multi-billion dollar US companies like Amazon and iTunes to pay taxes to the UK government and not just let them evade while UK stores like HMV struggle with high rents, costs and taxes....
-
The End Of HMV
you can't just eliminate piracy from the equation... it is indeed the main reason why sales are falling everywhere, more so in other parts in the world than in the UK, especially in Eastern Europe, Latin America and Asia where the number 1 digital album download sells 3 to 5 copies per week !!!! it's not the quality of the music, not the promotion, it's only related to the music being available everywhere on the internet for free, and everywhere, weeks before its actual release.... if u can get the same thing for free why pay for it??? Digital downloads albums will NEVER be a substitute for physical CD's and will never sell as much, and the US which is 2-3 years ahead of the UK in terms of music industry trends has proven that fact since digital has yet to take the larger share of the album markets + besides all the iTunes/ Amazon (25 cent) deals also help inflate digital album sales but it's basically just masking the problem which is that the album format is indeed dead....
-
The End Of HMV
they actually can if they stop online piracy and illegal downloads which killed the music industry in the first place... so yrs the physical format can.be saved but they're not doing anything to save it...
-
The End Of HMV
it's a real shame since it was the first place i'd go to whenever i travel to the UK, also millions of tourists, including me, entering the Uk each year, will not be able to buy the latest Uk releases anymore... such sad news... however i think the Uk government should help save the entertainment giant by reducing taxes and costs since the entertainment industry is a key income for the UK economy....
-
The End Of HMV
expect album sales.to drop.by at least 25% after the closure....

Kylie - Quitting Music
Why would she start a new Career at 44??? People love her for her music not for her acting ... Is acting in Z-rated indie films her career goal??? I hope not... An regarding her sacking her manager it might be for her best, since he hasn't quite helped her the past 10 years and took some really wrong career damaging decisions regarding her last 3 studio albums... She needs a new manager with a new vision..,

These days??? His first UK number 1 'Right Now' had a sample so basically he made a career out of sampling other people's songs...
