The Leona Lewis double A-side charted in 2008 (Better In Time / Footprints In The Sand) with Footprints In The Sand also charting on its own lower down (downloads of Better In Time being combined with the physical and download bundle). As suggested by the quotes from the time, this is completely wrong - its #35 entry was on downloads of a re-mixed version. Its first week at #1 was on downloads of the original and re-mixed version(s), with the physical following the next week.

Thanks for another great thread, Gezza!

The performance of their first hit had an unusual choice of singer (obviously the vocals on the track are sampled): _c-otF1x1v0

    Kygo is Norwegian. :)
  5. Catch - act who reached #70 in 1990 Catch - UK act who reached the top 30 in 1997 after their video was deemed by ITV to be less important than the death of an ex-royal CK - dance act who teamed up with Supreme Dream Team in early 2003 CK - urban act who teamed up with Badfellas in not-quite-as-early 2003, and also with Jaimeson in 2004 Clint Eastwood - famous US actor/director whose I Talk To The Trees was a double A-side with Lee Marvin's #1 but was only listed on the chart for its first 2 weeks Clint Eastwood - Jamaican DJ who teamed up with General Saint for a minor hit in 1984
  6. Alexia - Italian singer who had 3 hits in 1998. Alexia - UK singer who just missed the top 40 in 2003. Bad Company - group who had 3 top 40 hits in 1974-75. Bad Company - drum and bass group (whose members included DJ Fresh) who had 2 minor hits in 2002 before changing their name to Bad Company UK (despite the other Bad Company also being from the UK!) and reaching the top 20 in 2003. Blackout - just missed the top 40 in 1999. Blackout - reached the top 20 in 2001. Plus there was The Blackout (a band from Wales) who only got as high as #90 on the Singles Chart but did have 3 top 40 albums.

Ofra Haza - Im Nin'alu (#15 in 1988) is another.
  8. Tom Novy also had 2 top 40 hits as part of Novy vs Eniac. Your Body had in fact charted a couple of weeks earlier as a track on Various Artists - United Nations Of House - Volume 1 (it charted at #71). I'm guessing that Your Body was considered the 'lead' track on this single (i.e. the track whose downloads counted alongside the physical release as per the chart rules at the time) prior to the single release of Your Body, which the downloads then got transferred to.

The initially published version of this chart had another entry for One Step Too Far at #68 - it was quickly realised that it should not have been there, and was thus removed.
  10. No I'm not referring to that one. :)
  11. This may not be the last mention in this thread of cars turning into robots...
  12. It was originally released in 2002 reaching #56.

Terry Wogan had a gap of nearly 31 years between The Floral Dance in January 1978 and Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth (as part of BandAged) in December 2008. In 2009 he (along with Aled Jones) was individually credited on the follow-up hit Silver Bells/Me And My Teddy Bear.

This week Stargate have hit the top 75 for the first time as artists since Easier Said Than Done in 2002 (although they have produced numerous hits in the meantime). :)

Boris Gardiner charted in 1970 with the instrumental Elizabethan Reggae then did not chart again for another 16 years, when he reached #1 with I Want To Wake Up With You.

Taio Cruz - Come On Girl in early 2008 seemed to kickstart the 'urban artists going down the dance route' craze that was massive for the next few years (e.g. David Guetta collaborating with many urban artists). Lady Gaga - Just Dance in early 2009 kicked off the RedOne electropop sound.
  17. I believe this was Sport Relief, not Comic Relief (which only occurs in odd-numbered years). And I wasn't aware of the Shapeshifters' US name-change!
  18. Cha Cha Slide was the first #1 not to enter the chart at that position since Bob The Builder's Can We Fix It over 3 years earlier (although DJ Otzi's Hey Baby was listed as a climber from 45-1 at the time due to the chart compilers' software being unable to separate the import and domestic releases).
  19. The chorus of this song is sampled from 5th Dimension's Aquarius - Let The Sun Shine In (#11 in 1969). The vocalist on the Milk & Sugar remake is Lizzy Pattinson, the sister of actor Robert Pattinson.
  20. 15/21 :(
  21. Merry Christmas Everyone was apparently originally due to be released in 1984 but was delayed a year to avoid a clash with Band Aid.

    15/15 :)
  23. For some reason I always thought that it was Junior and Senior themselves who did the vocals on this, with the younger-sounding Junior doing the singing and the older-sounding Senior doing the rap (hence their names).
  24. Thanks for another great list, Gezza!
  25. This was his 3rd hit as Jakatta (after American Dream and So Lonely), and at least his 8th in total (he had also had 3 as Joey Negro and 2 as Raven Maize).
