  1. Tbh my thoughts too admittedly. 😂 2000 really wasn’t the greatest year lol.
  2. CHART BATTLE REWIND Rewinding back to October 2000 when the Spice Girls were releasing their first album post-Geri, ditching their signature sound for a more Americanised R&B approach - their first single being a double A-side of the Darkchild-produced Holler and the ballad Let Love Lead The Way. Martine McCutcheon was busy shedding her Tiffany Mitchell persona; having scored a #1 single and a #2 Platinum album the previous year, she kickstarted her second era with I'm Over You. Ricky Martin was also following up a breakthrough era from the previous year, with She Bangs leading second album Sound Loaded. The dominant Spice Girls still managed to have enough pull by 2000 to win this battle, bagging their 9th UK number one, while Martine missed out on what turned out to be her last real chance of reaching the top of the charts again, settling for #2. Ricky hit #3 with She Bangs, becoming his final visit to the top 3 to date. But which is your number one? Vote above. Other chart battles: Kelly Clarkson vs Taylor Swift Timbaland vs Mark Ronson Alexandra Burke vs Robbie Williams Cascada vs Michael Jackson Geri Halliwell vs blink-182 The Shapeshifters vs Rachel Stevens Christina Aguilera vs DJ Sammy Atomic Kitten vs Destiny's Child Rage Against The Machine vs Joe McElderry Eric Prydz vs Girls Aloud vs Green Day Arctic Monkeys vs Biggie vs Will Young vs Beyonce Leona Lewis vs Take That Sonique vs S Club 7 Oasis vs Rihanna

Brokeback Mountain, the film was incredibly brave for the time, as were Jake and Heath for their roles!

  9. As someone who only followed the midweeks from 2009, this is very interesting to hear! I had no idea she started as low as 7. Going with Rihanna too. Eternal banger!
  10. I know the shorter series probably secures a few of the bigger names but it would be so much better being a month long. I’m still hoping the regular series later this year will be extended by a couple weeks.
  11. Obviously Mean Girls and White Chicks! They’re the first two that spring to mind. So many quotable moments!
  12. CHART BATTLE REWIND Late August 2005 saw an extremely busy week of new releases from the likes of Simon Webbe, the Black Eyed Peas, Girls Aloud and the White Stripes - in fact there were 6 new entries in the top 10 and 11 in the top 20!! - but the real contenders for number one emerged as Oasis and Rihanna. Oasis released The Importance of Being Idle as the second single from their sixth album Don't Believe the Truth, following up their number one Lyla from earlier in the year. Meanwhile, Rihanna was launching her debut single, the dancehall-pop banger Pon de Replay, after it found huge success in the US. Oasis ended up winning the war, scoring their 8th number one(!) while Rihanna settled for a #2 debut, where it stayed for two weeks. But which is your number one? Vote above. Other chart battles: Kelly Clarkson vs Taylor Swift Timbaland vs Mark Ronson Alexandra Burke vs Robbie Williams Cascada vs Michael Jackson Geri Halliwell vs blink-182 The Shapeshifters vs Rachel Stevens Christina Aguilera vs DJ Sammy Atomic Kitten vs Destiny's Child Rage Against The Machine vs Joe McElderry Eric Prydz vs Girls Aloud vs Green Day Arctic Monkeys vs Biggie vs Will Young vs Beyonce Leona Lewis vs Take That Sonique vs S Club 7

  15. I haven’t heard it but from fan reactions online I wouldn’t be surprised to see Plastic Box as the focus track. Is this the real Jade Room? Maybe they are teasing Natural Disaster?
  16. That makes a lot of sense. The teaser does sound a bit Blood Orange-y.
