That percentage though for round 2. :o Akon gets the boot after the vast majority of voters (including myself) chose to oust 'Lonely' from the competition! The track spent two weeks at number one in May 2005 and became Akon's first chart topper/real breakthrough single globally. For me it is difficult to listen to whether it is Akon's lacklustre rap-singing on the verses or the horrid high-pitched vocals on the chorus. Am I imagining this or was "high-pitched vocals" a trend in the mid 00's?

Out in sixth place is Westlife's cover of Billy Joel's hit 'Uptown Girl'. I'm actually shocked a Westlife song lasted this long (#garethwasrobbed) but I guess that's a testament to both the song and the fact Westlife decided to go up-tempo for once! The song was released as the official Comic Relief single in March 2001 and topped the UK Singles Chart for one week and in turn became the group's 7th number one after eight releases! Their cover is harmless to the ears but the original is far better imo. Fun fact: 'Uptown Girl' mirrors 'American Boy' in getting 14 out of 40 votes to be eliminated and therefore getting a percentage of 35%. :P

Whenever we dip out of the competition, perhaps we should do a rate or survivor including our AF Idol choices? :D

Surely it has to be out of 2B1, Too Much, SUYL and Goodbye for this round. Or Maybe. :gaycat:
