Again, not quite what you’re looking for, but I’m sure Beyonce re-released her B Day album after just two singles (Deja Vu, Irreplaceable) with Beautiful Liar tacked on.

I watched the Irish one last year (the only funny international version imo) so couldn’t wait for the UK version. It didn’t disappoint! I’d say Daisy, Bob, Richard and Lou were the 4 funniest. Rob Becket too. There were some moments that might not have been funny in any other context, but in this context of trying to make others laugh when they’re not supposed to, really cracked me up. Bob and Richard’s dinner date, Daisy’s rollercoaster ride and a certain comedian getting themselves a red card for laughing at their own joke are just the standouts off the top of my head.

I've unearthed the original chart battle thread from October 2009. October 16, 2009 Much prefer Bodies. X Factor winner Alexandra Burke will probably be a flash in the pan and I bet her album doesnt do as well.

Rachel Stevens was my first thought with Funkydory. I remember getting the version of the album without Some Girls and being annoyed it wasn’t on there. Not really the same but I always find it amusing Rihanna released her two singles from her debut and then stuck them on the end of her second album which came out less than a year after.

CHART BATTLE REWIND Travelling back to 2009 now for chart battle #3, when reigning X Factor champ Alexandra went head-to-head with the then-chart heavyweight Robbie Williams. 'Bad Boys' was Alexandra's first proper single, heavily inspired by the RedOne electropop craze of the time, while 'Bodies' was Robbie's first new release since his divisive Rudebox album three years before. Alexandra won the battle by quite a clear margin in the end and gained her second #1 in the space of 10 months while Robbie would have to wait a few more years to top the chart again. I agree, it seems her/their idea was the more straight-forward Pop songs would be her best chance at chart success when in fact the more innovative songs have the most appeal or at least get the most attention. She’s definitely shown versatility with these 5 releases but I think Single 4 needs to be on the more experimental side and gag people the same way Angel did.

I think September would be too early. If the album is coming in June, I think theoretically we’d get another single alongside the album release and then a final single in September time. I don’t expect the J2 lead single until next April earliest.

She needs to strike while the iron is warm because a few years is a lifetime in Pop. She could justify a 4 year gap after FN's success but considering the result was RO, taking another 3-4 years for a follow-up would be silly. If I were her dad management, I'd get a single out for summer and one that sounds completely unexpected and left-field. Most of the criticism I've seen towards RO is how it's not radically different from what we've heard before so she's needs to change that discourse pronto.

I agree, Britney's INAGNYAW is very limp compared to Slave and Overprotected. I think it peaked so high because Britney's movie Crossroads was released in the UK around the same time.
