  1. Oh god... that's terrible

Tell me about it! :( Any death is terrible but when you just think suicide is the worst it can get... it's such a morbid way of ending your life, hanging yourself. She must've been really troubled.

  2. I can see 'Chandelier' going down as a bit of a classic despite its relatively low peak. There's just something so special about her voice and this song in particular. I really want a mastered studio version of her version of 'Diamonds' too. The live video was amazing.
  3. What shocks me most is the fact that she always seemed so confident - when she was on X Factor, in the media after, as part of G.R.L etc. I guess you really do not know what goes on in someone's life behind closed doors. I don't think it's been confirmed as suicide yet but I notice depression has been mentioned a lot so I guess that's confirmation enough.
  4. I'm shocked that Syco threatened to report that they dropped Leona if she decided to leave their label. What scum.

Also interesting that she's considered leaving Syco multiple times in the past and finally took the leap when they wanted her to record an album that isn't true to her. I'd like more details on what the album would've been like.

  5. Is that Aaron guy on Twitter reliable who said it's for a new single? Even if he isn't I think it must be something to do with music judging by Seb's tweet! I'm thinking single 1 in November (radio premiere late September) and then single 2 and an album in February? I guess its possible but I'm surprised it's happening so quickly! :o

That's the strategy I'm thinking. I can't work out what else that photo shoot could be for... maybe a magazine? But that hardly warrants a "so it begins" caption.

    Rihanna- What's My Name

  7. I'd rather Leona not collab with Jessie J. I don't think their voices will go that well together and it'll be rather messy. Leona's working with Def Jam on the album too, so she could potentially collab with one of their artists (Jay Z is on Def Jam... An "Empire State Of Mind"-like smash hit would be awesome). Either way, it's quite exciting at the amount of people she coul potentially work with now that's she's on Island records! ^_^

Jay Z doesn't just collaborate with anyone though. They're usually R&B/Hip-Hop musicians and in his circle (Beyonce, Kanye, Frank Ocean, Rihanna, Alicia Keys).

I really want Leona to feature on an Afrojack track. He worked wonders for 'Collide' by remixing it and also is signed to Def Jam.

  8. I need a collaboration in my life with Leona featuring.

I don't know who on the Island Records roster is releasing new material later this year except Jessie J but she's already got two female artists on her first single. I doubt she'll have another on her second single. Jessie and Leona are friends though.

  9. All I hope is that it actually has a chorus and no trumpets. Ideally a banger like Only Girl and We Found Love.

I agree. Something as game-changing as those two songs were. OG definitely took Rihanna's career up a notch into superstardom (the whole Loud era did tbh) while WFL went stratospheric.

While I really like 'Diamonds', I was extremely underwhelmed by it at first. It was just very safe from an artist like Rihanna. I hope she doesn't follow the trumpet trend and makes her own lane. A reggae sound would be appreciated.

  10. Why on earth did she sign to RCA? It's a broke label and has been for years. Listening to her output this year suggests that they are still struggling financially. The song itself sounds like it could be really good but the production and vocals are just off throughout. Don't even get me started on the auto-tune.

  12. I can't believe how held back Won't Look Back has been. I remember hearing him play it during his set at Lovebox and even then it wasn't exactly the first time it had been heard.

I'm sadly not liking 2014 as much as 2013 music-wise so far. We had an amazing string of #1s last year. Hopefully Q4 will get me interested. Rihanna must surely be dropping her new single next week. Unless she's going to just drop it all of a sudden in November. I'm dreading the return of Adele and Emeli although I sense Emeli could severely underperform if she's releasing new stuff around Adele's return. Maybe even Adele will underperform herself.

  13. It'd say a lot about Island's faith in Leona if she does release her album out of the Q4 period for once. She doesn't need an X Factor slot and a Children In Need performance to shift albums if she has a cracking lead single and a good relationship with radio. A February release for her next single and then a May release for her album and follow-up single would be ideal.

In the mean time, I hope for One More Sleep to dominate the radio stations this year as well as maybe a feature on someone's single just to keep her name in the spotlight and to extend her chart discography.

  14. Let's not pretend it's at #1 because of Jessie J's stunning performance in the song.

Also, I love how clearly she wants a hit. First Robin Thicke, now Ariana Grande. What next? An ED SHEERAN duet album with guest raps from IGGY AZALEA?

    So true.

For someone who sings about "it's not about the money" and "don't lose who you are in the blur of the stars", she definitely puts getting a hit as first priority. I want to like Jessie but she reeks of desperation. If Ariana hadn't blown up these past two years, would she really be on this?
