Speaking of Ireland, it is the first country to chart 'Tension' on Apple Music, NEW at 170 so far!

For me too... Given UK had the second best Spotify market regarding Padam's peak after Ireland, it seems very rude! Not sure if we can expect big numbers with this now... Hopefully Apple Music makes up for it a bit.

Easy number one on 60k+ I'd say. I see that 'Tension' has cassettes on first week too now, so the formats compared to 'DISCO' are roughly the same. So big coverage and 'Padam' success should bring it up. What 'Tension' doesn't have compared to 'DISCO' is a chart battle. Doja Cat clearly won't put such a threat like Little Mix did and cares mainly of the USA market where Kylie has no chance anyway. So 60k+ might be a bit optimistic, but let's see how 'Tension' the single fares too. If it becomes a hit, now that could give a multiplicative effect to the album!

Also — zero posts on TikTok! I mean she gained by a half in followers during Padam release there, and it’s the biggest platform to promote music right now. I really hoped for a different pre-release rollout. It is a shame the SMM strategy didn’t get an upgrade, but let’s hope it catches on its own.

I get what you mean, and chords in the snippet sound quite basic to me, unlike with Padam’s “alien-y” intro, which grabbed everyone’s attention immediately. But people kept praising it, so I keep my hopes high! Also some described it as numerous songs in one, which should give more “moments” throughout the song? The video could be ‘Say Something’ on steroids indeed, and I hope they spend some budget on it. Surely they know that two hit singles could do WONDERS for the album sales? And also give longevity on streaming.

If they concentrate physicals intensively on the album release week, it could get a decent peak, but so far we still don’t have an announcement for the single vinyls. Also we are yet to see if it is going to catch with the general audience or will be Stop Me from Falling / Say Something / Magic all over again with a 50-ish peak. FINALLY an announcement but it really feels too little too late at this point. Hopefully it won’t hurt the debut!

I’m surprised that there’s a complete lack of the official announcement? It’s about bloody time, I’d say? Maybe they delay it because the track got leaked, but I think it didn’t stop them with Padam? I agree that the song seems to be overhype by those who are writing the US articles! At the same time I wouldn't say it's a minimal return, as it is gaining similar streams from USA as from UK, we just don't see those! There was also an article stating she has 2.8m USA listeners compared to 2.2m UK's. That means it has its market and contributes a lot to Kylie's tally on streaming! And being a minor hit on the radio should help her album sales outside of typical Townsend's figures hopefully.
