  1. Thank you guys for participating, it was fun to host this countdown! But that's not all... Most streamed albums in the past years 1 DISCO 204 645 204 2 Fever 198 813 741 3 Kylie Christmas 112 339 755 4 Light Years 45 746 290 5 Kylie 38 873 874 6 Aphrodite 27 838 343 7 X 22 983 209 8 Golden 16 332 016 9 Body Language 16 200 885 10 Rhythm of Love 12 572 556 11 Enjoy Yourself 8 492 397 12 Kiss Me Once 8 289 807 13 Kylie Minogue 5 118 822 14 Impossible Princess 3 697 664 15 Let's Get to It 1 308 126 DISCO tops the "album chart" and proves Kylie can release a current album that can beat her catalogue albums numbers, including even 'Fever'. But at the same time, 'Golden' slipped all the way to the middle of the list. 'DISCO' has way bigger figures and hopefully won't dip too much down in streams. 'Kiss Me Once' slowed down to the extent it's only at #12 out of 15 now. Maybe next time it will slip below 'Kylie Minogue' too. At the same time, 'Kylie Christmas' crossed 100 million spins in 2 years, and judging by the amount of huge gainers in the past two years this trend will only continue. It will probably easily outlive 'DISCO' but slip below the new album if we do another update after the end of the next era. Among the pre-Parlophone albums her debut 'Kylie' by far does the best being streamed more than the other pre-Parlophone studio albums combined. Another fun fact: 'Real Groove' had more streams in the past two years than all of her albums from 'Light Years' and downwards. 'Can't Get You Out of My Head''s last 2 years' streams were bigger than of the whole 'Kylie Christmas too'. And now speaking of the biggest streaming singles in the past 2 years. 1 Can't Get You out of My Head Fever 134 020 990 2 Santa Baby Kylie Christmas 74 876 513 3 Real Groove DISCO 46 312 310 4 Magic DISCO 37 853 631 5 Say Something DISCO 29 495 735 6 In Your Eyes Fever 27 303 680 7 The Loco-Motion Kylie 25 567 973 8 Higher Higher 22 901 216 9 Spinning Around Light Years 21 406 011 10 Love at First Sight Fever 20 120 175 11 A Second to Midnight DISCO 19 283 197 12 Where the Wild Roses Grow Murder Ballads 16 420 909 13 All the Lovers Aphrodite 11 726 015 14 Get Outta My Way Aphrodite 11 119 318 15 Miss a Thing DISCO 10 508 649 16 At Christmas Kylie Christmas 9 743 686 17 Santa Claus Is Coming to Town (feat. Here are all the catalogue songs that were streamed more than 2 million times in the past 2 years. 1 Can't Get You out of My Head Fever 134 020 990 2 Santa Baby Kylie Christmas 74 876 513 3 In Your Eyes Fever 27 303 680 4 The Loco-Motion Kylie 25 567 973 5 Higher Higher 22 901 216 6 Spinning Around Light Years 21 406 011 7 Love at First Sight Fever 20 120 175 8 Where the Wild Roses Grow Murder Ballads 16 420 909 9 All the Lovers Aphrodite 11 726 015 10 Get Outta My Way Aphrodite 11 119 318 11 At Christmas Kylie Christmas 9 743 686 12 Santa Claus Is Coming to Town (feat. 'Golden' became a catalogue seller, leaving 'Dancing' at 19 and 'Stop Me From Falling' at 28. All four 'X' singles are here too, although '2 Hearts' just missed out on the top-40 but crossed 2 million streams nevertheless. Loads of 'Kylie Christmas' songs spread out in the whole top-40, making it the biggest amount of songs in the top-40 of the catalogue streamers of the past two years. 'Light Years' has four tracks here, including 'Your Disco Needs You'. All three 'Body Language' singles are in the top-40 too, with 'Red Blooded Woman' being surprisingly by far the worst.
  2. And finally, probably the least surprising batch... OjETibEMbJY 5 4 | Where the Wild Roses Grow | Murder Ballads | 49 765 339 | 49% 4 8 | In Your Eyes | Fever | 54 451 838 | 101% Chart Climber 3 3 | Higher | Higher | 62 016 311 | 59% 2 2 | Santa Baby | Kylie Christmas | 168 206 014 | 80% 1 1 | Can't Get You out of My Head | Fever | 308 350 170 | 77% I remember MTV hosts making lots of jokes how Kylie had less and less clothes with each coming video, peaking at 'In Your Eyes', a beautiful song which she has co-written herself and a second single after a 'Can't Get You out of My Head' behemoth, which is also here coming first. The top-5 is so weird and doesn't make sense to me though! Except for CGYOOMH of course, which is rightfully at the top. 'Higher', a hit for Taio Cruz, is her third biggest streamer but nowhere near enough memorable from her discography. 'Santa Baby' makes her one of the most popular Spotify artists each December. And finally, 'Where the Wild Roses Grow' is probably the most obscure for me, as much as I love it. Who could have thought this top-20 peaking single from 1995 could become one of her biggest streaming hits, as well as Nick's? But I'm really happy it's that popular, as it's a very beautiful song. Now this is it! Tomorrow I'll post some extra stats about the last 2 years' dynamics, and then revise the list again to add some other entries.
  3. And speaking of the biggest gainer in percentages. It may be a surprise, but it is 'GBI', which gained 1151% on the 2020 figure! As far as I remember, it may also be the case with the late addition to Spotify, but now it gains some low-key streams. And here is a reminder of how (I tried to embed it, but due to the age restrictions it wasn't allowed hehe). Moving on up... 10-6 t1DWBKk5xHQ 10 5 | All the Lovers | Aphrodite | 42 950 633 | 38% 9 11 | Spinning Around | Light Years | 43 016 595 | 99% Chart Climber 8 N | Real Groove | DISCO | 46 312 310 | N 7 9 | Love at First Sight | Fever | 46 429 246 | 76% Chart Climber 6 10 | The Loco-Motion | Kylie | 47 697 364 | 116% 10th Biggest Gainer, Chart Climber Now scrolling back to the start from her other label age and the most successful one - Parlophone! 'Spinning Around' opened it and so much more new audience for Kylie. Amazing song, which gained double of her streams in the last two years, it also climbed into the top-10 kicking out 'Get Outta My Way'. 'All the Lovers' is also here, just above 'Get Outta My Way' and falling 5 places too in sync with it. Instead, 'Love at First Sight' gained two places, now being placed as her 7th biggest streaming hit! But what has gained above them all is 'The Loco-Motion', which has added more than double of her previous streams, overtaking 'Love at First Sight', 'Get Outta My Way' and 'All the Lovers' from her catalogue. It is her very first single of course and by far the most popular song from her early days. And finally, here lands the last 'DISCO' track, it's 'Real Groove', obviously helped by numerous versions and remixes, including several with the streaming force Dua Lipa, who made a (slight) appearance in 'Infinite Disco'. I feel it won't grow that much in the next years, but the difference between it and 'Magic' is so big that I don't think they will swap anytime in the coming future. But well done for raising almost 50 million streams for a new single, even if cumulatively. Hopefully the next era will bring us a long awaited new 100-millioner.
  4. Thank you jbjb for the omissions, I will look them up and add them to the final list! I actually thought about 'Devotion' but for some reason it felt in my mind she wasn't officially credited there. And SmileyKylie, On oublie le reste is not far from the top-100 on 1.8 million streams, currently at 110 but will be pushed down a bit once I add everything from above. But it has a 37% gain, which is much more than most of streaming era album tracks. 15-11 -BDImdAfodA 15 13 | Kids | Light Years | 25 256 531 | 57% 14 48 | Say Something | DISCO | 33 443 127 | 747% 2nd Biggest Gainer, Chart Climber 13 7 | Dancing | Golden | 35 808 205 | 23% 12 NE | Magic | DISCO | 37 853 631 | N 11 6 | Get Outta My Way | Aphrodite | 42 037 025 | 36% 'Dancing' is an opening for the album 'Golden' and her first BMG release which turned around quite a bit her career trajectory. It has still gone Silver in UK and is her last (new) top-40 single from BMG era. 'Golden' era was so exciting to follow, and BMG did a very good job keeping it afloat for the whole year. Nevertheless, now it is the second slowest track in the top-20 after 'Stop me from Falling' off the same album, but hopefully it will be remembered and continue gaining more streams. Now we have the first two singles from another BMG era - the newest 'DISCO'. 'Say Something' is the second biggest gainer pretty much by default, as in the previous countdown it had only just been released. It took a while to grow on me, but now I really love it, and I love how the song "unfolds" with something new until the very last seconds. 'Magic' is a bit higher and is actually one of my least favourite tracks from 'DISCO', never got the fuss over it. But well done for having such a streaming hit for her. 'Get Out of My Way' left the top-10 but is still having a healthy increase in streaming, but even the better are dynamics for 'Kids' - a duet with Robbie, the follow up for which we might get in the coming years.
  5. Actually there's another version on 3 million, so that makes the total on 5.3 million streams! That would be enough to place it at #59. I will edit it in in the recap.
  6. Couple you please state all of the omissions you found? I based my list on the previous one from Dannyboy and included the new entries. But I will be happy to add to the final list whatever that was missed out

But it is also the highest track from 'X' beating all the rest fair and square. Definitely a highlight, but it nevertheless swapped places with another highlight, now from 'Light Years', which gained slightly more and that was enough to overtake it. 'I Should Be So Lucky' is a big climber here and has a big chance of overtaking the rest of this batch in the coming several years. Especially 'Stop Me From Falling', which definitely lost traction and doesn't gain much. It is still the bigger gainer of the 'Golden' tracks, most of which gained 11-15%, the worst surprisingly being 'Lost Without You'. 'At Christmas' is gaining steady though and may have legs for more pushes later.

The song is very unique in her catalogue and, as far as I know, gained some fans outside of her usual circle. It also got to #1, but due to the change of sound or for some other reasons the album wasn't that much successful. 'Come into My World' is the only Grammy-winning recording for Kylie and has an amazing music video. Still it's the first single to go from 'Fever' with three more to come. 'Timebomb' is also here. Due to the Friday release, its peak wasn't what it could be and unfortunately I didn't have much longevity in the charts - but has a nice streaming tally nevertheless. Finally, we have a lead of the 'DISCO' re-release. It is still among the most popular Kylie tracks currently, and if it had enough time, it would probably land at around #15. I guess we can see how it catches up to the other singles later.
  9. 'Chocolate' becoming a bigger streaming hit is a surprise for me too, but a pleasant one, as I very much prefer 'Chocolate'. And 'Beautiful' pretty much stopped gaining in streams, so we can expect the further slumps down. 30-26 fL6FaI-wJxs 30 38 | Santa Claus Is Coming to Town (feat. At the same time that album had very nice streaming initially, which is still felt well throughout this rundown. Right now most of the album streams have stalled, and 'Into the Blue' is no exception. Personally I like some 'Kiss Me Once' tracks (my favourite is actually 'Sleeping with the Enemy'), but the album as a whole felt a bit flat and too... artificial? to me. Even 'Kylie Christmas' album is better in that regard to my taste. Speaking of, we have another huge gainer from it, this time it's 'Santa Claus Is Coming to Town', which racked up almost 10 million streams in the past 2 years, almost double of what it had before. Will it go further? We'll see soon. But I never thought the Christmas album would have so much longevity for her. Now we're past all of the album tracks from 'DISCO' we will see more climbers, but you still need to earn it. One of them is 'Better the Devil You Know', which climbed just one place but soared 80% extra streams in the past 2 years. 'Rhythm of Love's first single is deservedly cementing its place closer to the top of her most streamed songs. It ran over 'Wow', which slid 3 spots but had a healthy streams gain nevertheless. To my surprise, 'Really Don't Like U' also gained very healthily. It will be interesting to watch how it fares in the next 2-3 years: will it continue gaining big and rivalling the big catalogue singles or slow down?

This is a very diverse pack of songs, with every track having its own origin, except for two singles from 'Body Language' almost being back-to-back. Despite doing poor on streaming as a whole, Body Language produced three singles, which fare very well in general. I'm very happy 'Chocolate' was released as a single, it adds a lot of value and diversity to her singles collection, and the public seems to like it as well, more than 'Red Blooded Woman', which was pushed way harder in the time of the release. And of course, we still have one more 'Body Language' single to come. 'I Believe in You' released as a lead single from her greatest hits collection 'Ultimate Kylie'. Often artists release sub-par songs as the leads to the greatest hits compilation. It is clearly not the case with 'I Believe in You', which became another Kylie classic, and the numbers prove that. And another classic here, it's 'Confide in Me', which opened the 'Deconstrucion' age and gave us the whole new image of Kylie. 'Especially for You' enjoys an enormous jump within the last two years, helped by the ending of 'Neighbours' lately and will be boosted even more for sure. But there are two tracks which seemingly will continue sliding down pretty fast: 'Beautiful' and 'Right Here, Right Now', both only gained 7% in the two years. 'Beautiful' also had the sharpest slump within the top-50. 'The One', the final single from 'X', opens this top-40, and is the third biggest gainer from the album (the first weirdly being 'Nu-Di-Ty' which gained 80% to 948k plays). And the biggest album track from 'DISCO' is also here: 'Miss a Thing' gained 10 million plays from scratch, amazing feat for a Kylie album track.

They are here to stay for long. 'DISCO' got us another pair of album tracks, now 'Supernova' and 'I Love It' (the latter was a grat though, and it definitely has helped). Nice traction from 'Hand on Your Heart' as well, it very seems like the fall is temporary and it will regain some spots in the coming years, unless the next album is very popular. Here we have the first of the four singles from 'X' - the lead '2 Hearts', and like with 'Let's Get to It' the lead single became the least streamed one. Another single is 'I Was Gonna Cancel', a flop follow-up to 'Into the Blue', but surprisingly it is also the biggest gainer (in percentages) on the album. Finally, 'Your Disco Needs You' slid down to 45, never-released-as-a-single-in-the UK, yet beating by 3.5 times 'Please Stay', which was released here instead.
  12. And before we move on to the upper half of the top-100, let me give you some ~album stats~ FyOnxPc1VdM Between the 15 studio albums, in the top-100 14 of them are represented to some extent. 1 DISCO 18 2 Kylie Christmas 13 3 Golden 8 4 Aphrodite 7 4 Fever 7 4 Kiss Me Once 7 7 X 5 7 Light Years 5 9 Enjoy Yourself 3 9 Impossible Princess 3 9 Rhythm of Love 3 9 Kylie 3 9 Body Language 3 14 Kylie Minogue 2 By far the biggest represented album is 'DISCO', but mind you, last time it was 'Golden' and it has lost 6 tracks from the top-100 in the past two years. 'Aphrodite' also lost 5 and 'Kiss me Once' lost 4. 'Kylie Christmas' is the album that stays on 13 tracks in the top-100, losing one (100 Degrees) but also gaining one (Oh Santa). Its longevity so far is the best out of the streaming era albums (from 'Aphrodite' till 'Golden'). The only 'DISCO' track, which didn't make the cut, is the Gloria Gaynor duet: 'Can't Stop Writing Songs About You' still had more than 1 million streams but landed only at #137. To me it feels as such a wasted opportunity of having a duet with the classical disco era star. And the only album which doesn't have any representation in the top-100 is 'Let's Get to It', the highest track from it being 'Give Me Just a Little More Time' at #125. And the lead 'Word is Out' is actually only the 4th popular track from the album being only at #193 in the whole list. Seems like it was a bad idea to open the album with it by any measurement. And this is how the overall streams of the studio albums look: 1 1 Fever 448 408 461 2 2 Kylie Christmas 272 149 524 3 14 DISCO 208 592 596 4 3 Aphrodite 110 444 648 5 5 Light Years 107 381 807 6 4 Golden 97 842 829 7 8 Kylie 75 350 264 8 7 X 66 483 066 9 6 Kiss Me Once 65 586 983 10 9 Body Language 46 040 958 11 10 Rhythm of Love 28 450 439 12 12 Enjoy Yourself 20 412 001 13 11 Kylie Minogue 17 721 676 14 13 Impossible Princess 12 509 907 15 15 Let's Get to It 4 121 843 Her 90's albums by far fare the worst, with 'Let's Get to It' as a whole having lower streams than 12 'DISCO' tracks. But what's more emotionally damaging is that many of her albums have less streams than some stand-alone singles. And yes, 'DISCO' is her by far third biggest streamed album now, climbing from #14 (based on early streams of 'Say Something' alone). Another album which gained a place is her debut, now being higher than 'X' and 'Kiss Me Once'. I think if it continues going the way it goes, in 2-3 years it will overtake 'Golden' too. More extra stats to come!

Step Back in Time is another catalogue climber in the list, gaining almost double in the past 2 years. It was released right before the fan favourite 'Rhythm of Love' and even became a title of her latest greatest hits. Great job, and I have a feeling it will continue leaping over the songs which are currently in front of her. This is the section we have the most new entries, two of which are technical though: in the previous edition 'Can't Get Blue Monday out of My Head' was seen as a remix of 'Can't Get You out of My Head', but given it is essentially a mash-up and has its own title, I decided to move it to its own place here. Another one is 'What You Waiting For', which wasn't tracked in August 2020, so I don't know its streams as of that time. But even without those two, we have four more new entries here, three of which are the DICSO tracks, finally breaking the pattern of two per each section of 10 slots. 'Dance Floor Darling' was given a low-key single release, but the more upbeat 'Where does the DJ Go?' managed to gain more streams. And here is another recent Kylie feature, now in a remix of the Years and Years' single 'Starstruck', which landed just outside of the top-50. Another collaboration, 'Music's Too Sad Without You', despite falling 10 places, now becomes the third highest 'Golden' track and has a way better longevity than other 'Golden' songs.
  14. I dunno, I have 'Put Yourself in My Place' on 181k, as per the video above and I can't find the other one. Maybe it's something about the location (I'm in Mexico right now). And thanks aeroco for clearing up about the older catalogue! I'm going to post some extra stats about the recent climbs within the last two years too. 'Kylie Christmas' songs are all over the place: some stall and barely move anywhere, and the others have enormous leaps, like 'Oh Santa'. The power of playlisting! But it's really interesting that the labels (I guess it's Parlo still?) successfully push for the Kylie Christmas tracks and that album has become such a big driver of Kylie's streaming even without 'Santa Baby' being included in the pot. And yeah, it sometimes even is annoying to watch a random album track being above some classic in streaming, and we're gonna have much more of that.

We have another new entry here, it's the 'Marry the Night' cover of Gaga released for Gaga's 'Born This Way' 10 years anniversary's celebration. We have two title tracks from albums - 'Fever' and 'Golden' - back-to-back at 62 and 63, with two more songs from 'Golden'. Unfortunately, 'Lifetime to Repair' is stalling and not going anywhere and it seems like it won't overtake 'Sexercize', which fell 20 spots but gained better. 'Did It Again' is the highest 'Impossible Princess' track and it has almost crossed 4 million Spotify plays. 'New York City' is also still here, with a nice gain way above 4 million plays as well.

It has less than 200k youtube plays, which seems quite ridiculous. Meanwhile 'Tears on my Pillow' made a giant leap up, and, as you can see, is now higher than some of her more successful at a time singles. A 3-pack of 'Aprhodite' songs are here as well, with the title track, which is also the only non-single of the three, actually gaining the most out of them. Speaking of album tracks, 'Like a Drug' gained very well here and 'Sexy Love' faired a bit better than most of other 'Kiss Me Once' songs. And furthermore have two more 'DISCO' songs for the third time in a row, which really do love to come in pairs.

Here we scroll back to the time of her debut album 'Kylie' and her first of many #2 singles, it's 'Got to Be Certain'. Those were the days when Kylie rose to the heights and kick-started her enormous career, but the streaming era kinda doesn't reflect it that much. Nevertheless it still had a healthy gain, as well as 'Celebration', which is one of the very few occasions of actually climbing in the overall chart. Here we have two more of the deluxe edition of 'DISCO' tracks, as well as two more 'Kylie Christmas' tracks, with 'Oh Santa's play count rising by six times (!). Guessing it got some very nice playlisting in the past two years. Two more 'Kiss Me Once' tracks are here as well, with their streams stalling and making the way for the other tracks. Not much better fairs 'Sincerely Yours' from 'Golden', which also slides at a pretty fast speed. Last, but not least, it's 'Breathe', another Impossible Princess single. In fact, it is the first Kylie song I have heard in my life, bought by my mom for me as a part of a pirate Russian compilation, I was very intrigued, as the song stood out from the rest I was hearing at the time. And it is still one of my favourites and her career highlights. From here on, the streaming gainers are measured in percentages, not in actual streams.
  18. ... I guess it's the streaming era for us, but I'm pretty sure both of these classics will manage to hang around the top-100, given how much did they gain in the past 2 years! And here is what managed to make the cut instead: 100-91 qBSg4_WStsU 100 72 | I'm Gonna Be Warm This Winter | Kylie Christmas | 2 199 517 | 24% 99 79 | Some Kind of Bliss | Impossible Princess | 2 298 268 | 47% 98 N | Spotlight | DISCO | 2 324 858 | N 97 81 | More More More | Fever | 2 377 615 | 54% 96 70 | Cupid Boy | Aphrodite | 2 411 687 | 24% 95 67 | Closer | Aphrodite | 2 441 069 | 21% 94 68 | Let It Snow | Kylie Christmas | 2 522 311 | 26% 93 N | Hey Lonely | DISCO | 2 529 090 | N 92 65 | Shelby '68 | Golden | 2 541 088 | 15% 91 78 | Please Stay | Light Years | 2 578 972 | 63% Here we have two more singles, including the first single from one of her least successful albums - 'Impossible Princess'. But for a flop single 'Some Kind of Bliss' manages to have some legs in the streaming era and got a healthy gain in plays. That's not the end for 'Impossible Princess' anyway and only the beginning for 'DISCO', which first two tracks appear at #93 and #98. Given they're the last two tracks from the original Deluxe edition of the album, you might have to get the idea of how many more are going to come. Same with 'Kylie Christmas', many more to appear about the most wonderful time of the year. Two 'Aphrodite' album tracks landing here too, with 'Cupid Boy' closing in on 'Closer' to my surprise, as I very much prefer the latter.
  19. Starting with the tracks which fell just outside of the top-100, but nevertheless had more than 2,000,000 streams per each. Yes, that also means that the whole top-100 crossed that threshold! Or_rCFLQJcQ Place 2022 Place 2020 Song Album Plays Aug 2022 Gain 106 112 | Wouldn't Change a Thing | Enjoy Yourself | 1 936 198 | 105% 105 80 | Speakerphone | X | 2 011 200 | 30% 104 97 | Shocked | Rhythm of Love | 2 052 691 | 71% 103 74 | Everything Is Beautiful | Aphrodite | 2 075 644 | 22% 102 73 | Illusion | Aphrodite | 2 148 956 | 22% 101 71 | Kiss Me Once | Kiss Me Once | 2 156 601 | 13% Also including 'Wouldn't Change a Thing', which was one of the only few songs of Kylie's catalogue that gained more than double in the last two years! Plus we have 4 album tracks falling out of the top-100 and a single 'Shocked' from Rhythm of Love, which also fell but not as harshly.
  20. Hi guys! I thought it would be fun to make a full-scale update of Kylie's Spotify streaming figures. We had another one almost exactly 2 years ago by Dannyboy, so given another Kylie's era has come to an end, this should be a nice way to wrap it up. I'm going to post the whole update in the Spotify thread while I'm finished here. And I used Dannyboy's figures to compare the progress to 2 years ago. rules The tracks counts are combined with the remixes, live versions etc. If there are two track titles in the live version of some song, I don't combined it with anything and leave it as it is. I generally didn't combine overtures, intros etc. especially if there's another version of the same song in the live album. I also gave 'Can't Get the Blue Monday out of my Head' its own life, given it's more of a mash-up rather than a remix with its own title. Tried to include most of the known features to the list too, hopefully didn't forget anything important. While most of us pretty much know what's gonna be in the lead, but still it should be interesting to see the progress outside the top-2! So let's see where the DISCO tracks landed, what gained the most, and what on the contrary stalled! Btw Kylie is on 1.8 billion streams of her catalogue, and she has gained 800 million streams in the past two years! Not too bad, eh? (if it is not fine with the mods, feel free to merge / close the thread)
  21. What i like more interesting is that Joji made the top-10 here while never achieving the feat in the official chart with some ACR songs penalised.
  22. Kylie has indeed pulled up on streaming massively with Disco. The album versions of 16 tracks of the deluxe edition of Disco accumulate 136m plays on Spotify, while for Golden the same number is on 78m. The biggest song is still 'Dancing' though, but it had bigger lifetime to pick up the streams. I hope the streaming success of Golden and (hopefully) the quality of the next album will open more doors for the streaming playlists next time.
  23. ^ I wouldn’t be so sure even about the nuclear equipment to be honest and thankfully! ~Some~ of the rockets can fly and even to the ordered destination, but apparently most of them will get stuck or won’t reach the target. I really hope we won’t actually witness the state of those rockets at all though. PS: hi Pavel, I hope you are fine too!
  24. Thank you guys for the kind words, now I’m in Mexico and planning the further steps for the time being. It is interesting that you mention Brexit, as the Russian public perception of this war reminds me of the evil twin of the UK public perception of Brexit. Literally the older demographics gets — the likelier it is to meet a supporter of this war. So older generation literally robs the younger one of a decent future with nice perspectives. That said, everyone should take any news on public support of this war with the greatest precaution: the amount of people who agree to answer fell by three times, and obviously those who stay on the line are far more likely to get the right answers for the propaganda machine. And yes, Ukraine is holding greatly against pretty much the biggest army in the world, and the time is in its favour, as Putin’s resources are draining and Ukraine consistently gets the military and humanitarian support from all over the world.
  25. Hi guys, It's been a huge while since I actively posted anywhere on here, but since I've been talking to many of you, I hope you won't mind if I squeeze in a thought or two. Right now I'm in Turkey, I fled Russia the day before yesterday and moving to Mexico tomorrow. I bought the tickets on 4th of March, when Parliament was rumoured to claim a martial law, but instead voted for a set of very repressing laws about the "fakes" of this "special operation". Since I can be quite easily put into the action of those laws, the decision was made. And the next day the flats of tens of my acquaintances got searched by the cops, some of them got detained, accused of "false terrorism calls". I was happy to wake up by myself but moved my laptop and money to the other place the same day. Now I feel free and relieved. I: Genesis How did it all come to this? One can say it goes back to 1917 - 1918 with the liquidation of the Russian Constituent Assembly. And they are not wrong: the lawful evolution of power was interrupted there and is still held by the descendants of those people. Decades of total repressions and emigration of many people who can even try to think differently also played the fatal role. But overall this war and its consequences can be described by one word (other than obvious moral degradation and total lack of empathy of any kind) It's delusion. Putin basically built the system of the folders laying on his desk. He was happy receiving good news in them and complemented such departments, and those who brought the difficulties weren't fired - but weren't treated nicely either. And from year to year he was fed the information that Ukrainian government is controlled by NATO / nazis, normal Ukrainians are unhappy with that, and once the Russian army enters the territory, the opposing part will immediately withdraw and people will meet the Russian soldiers with flowers. And it seems that he genuinely believed in all of it. He also believed that all the money he threw in the army wasn't stolen. Why would it be different to any other sphere, where loads of his acquaintances often didn't even bother to hide anything, he didn't even try to ask, because - again - he is delusional. The delusion of oligarchs that he would hold on to his initial role as a guarding dog of their treasures. The delusion of opposition thinking that he cannot be that crazy. The delusion of masses, who got very poor after USSR falling and held to the idea of the "special nation", trying to stick onto that idea as a replacement for lack of any decent physical life. II. Collective responsibility. Where does it start and how far does it go? I've been reading a lot of very different answers to this. Very popular opinion that it's only [mainly] Putin is to blame, and it has its basis. This decision is his and solely his own. He stopped consulting on most key decisions with anyone for a while, he literally makes most of them by himself now. Western leaders keep saying that too, but then we see most of the sanctions hitting mainly the people who don't agree with the war. It became really hard to fly away, and EU pressed even Serbia to stop flying to Russia. Visa / Mastercard banning abroad (not internal!) operations means that people who fled due to the danger of being prosecuted now can't sustain themselves and they might have to go back simply because they stopped having the funds to live. It also means that donating to independent journalists and activists will become much harder. VPN - a magic saviour from numerous blockings of independent media - can almost only be paid through abroad visa / mastercard transactions, potentially cutting off loads of Russians who want to get not the official information. When IELTS cancels the examination in Russia, will it make Putin angry, or will it make it even harder for kids to pass the test and try to escape Russia by going to a foreign University? When internet network operators cut Russia off, does it help to stop the war, or does it help Putin to break the internet for the Russians, and now even without even doing anything? Not to mention a ridiculous Meta policy, which confirmed the paranoia of dictators all over the world and justified even further repressions. Some people / influencers / officials say that it is all to help the people go on public strike against the war. Others even dare to add that silence means compliance with Putin. There was an enormous amount of campaigns to make companies quit Russia, blaming them for funding war otherwise - but barely anyone of activists or politicians say that EU literally funds the war every day by buying gas in enormous amounts. Russia already got 14 billion euros for selling fossils since 24th of February alone. Obviously I know that you can't stop buying oil and gas in an instant. But all the bells rang 8 years ago. Yet the corrupt politicians were very fine with not changing this situation at all or even worsening it, therefore funding not only the preparations to this war, but all of the Putin's guards who lock away and scare off most of the opposition to the regime. And now these people want Russians to oppose the huge army of cops, who they helped to fund all these years. Does Putin hold responsibility to this? Obviously, yes. Should his supporters be accountable, even if they believe Russia is "saving" Ukrainians? Should 'I stay out of politics' people be accountable trying to stay in their own shell and not saying or even thinking of anything happening in their country? Should Navalny be responsible for his strategic voting, where he urged to vote for the current parliament parties and 95% of its candidates, all of whom very obviously then supported the war? Should the Yabloko party be accountable for, while opposing Putin and actually predicting this war from long ago, saying the wrong words and often repulsing their own followers? Should the international establishment be responsible for literally funding this war for years before and even now? Should the voters of the west, just like the voters of Russia, be responsible for the actions of their respective governments, since they actually have fair elections and freedom of speech? I believe the answer to all of this is yes. And no. As all of the above were in the comfort zone, and really: no one in their right mind could have thought that in 2022 you can arrange a bloody war with enormous amount of casualties in the center of Europe. All of us underestimated his insanity, and it is really not hard to do so. But I urge to give a chance to people who oppose Putin to at least to leave the country and/or get the current independent information. Blaming Russians for this war while funding its government with easy oil money is hypocritical. Sanctions regarding access to information, money transactions for normal people (say, no more than 200-500 bucks) and the ability to move must be lifted. That said, it is obviously incompatible to all of the damage and deaths of Ukrainian people caused by the Russian army. I have friends in Kyiv and my heart breaks for them when they tell me their news. III. Where it will lead? My prognosis is quite pessimistic, at least for Russia. I know Ukraine will stand up, even if Putin defeats Kyiv and tries to occupy it (but seems like even he realises now it is impossible). Ukraine is an amazing country full of proud people, and I have my full faith in them that they will recover no matter what. As for the Russians... Well, I cannot rule out the nuclear weapons use. But other than that I feel my country will have a very long decay with constant repressions of "national traitors" and "fifth column", as all of the problems will be put on them. Most of Russians will cope, like they did in the Soviet Union. Or will escape in fear, either physically or emotionally. People will buy out all the groceries and drugs from stores and will blame NATO for their miserable lives. Or be silent. And for Putin it will be even easier to run the country, which will become a vassal of China. Mostly I pity the future of kids, who didn't even have the chance to change the narrative and now may be trapped in this system for their lives. But I hope once I can come back and restore my country, as an independent - but friendly and peaceful state for everybody. It would play the rightful part in European society, and any rivalry will be economical. And the people would finally know how to leave without fear and with a real hope for a decent life, respecting themselves and each other. I also hope the oligopoly of the social media will somehow change. They have the power greater than of many countries, but don't really own up to the responsibilities coming with it. And I hope that the system, when a dictatorship that exports oil and gas literally gets even more money by entering into war due to the prices rocketing up, also somehow changes. Many hopes and fears - but one thing is clear. We have entered a new phase of life, and no one knows where it will lead us to.
